Are we doing Janet & Roy this year? I haven't spotted a thread yet.

It's a fantastic idea. I'm definitely up for writing one. Please PM me someone.

Zamboni · 03/11/2014 13:18

Hilarious, I love this. Can do one from Exeter.

MrsCosmopilite · 03/11/2014 15:04

nethuns would you like me to have a go? PM me and let me know what you're after.

FishesTit · 03/11/2014 16:09

I participated last year and also had one sent to my best friend who is planning her wedding. She was getting very vexed about some guests who she didn't want but felt she should invite so in her card it names a few of the unwanted guests and how excited they all were to share their big day.

She was apoplectic she sent me a photo of the card saying 'look what we just got who the f are these people, I can't believe X (unwanted guest) has invited others without my knowledge'

I was crying laughing and finally confessed at dinner one night, it was so funny she's doing it this year too!!

In mine I wrote about Janet becoming chair person of the WI, Roy's piles and the latest edition to the family. I made them sound barking!

nethunsreject · 03/11/2014 21:52

I've been hooked up with Thomas Lynn, but thank you for the offer Smile

nethunsreject · 03/11/2014 21:54

Mrscosmo that was for. Don't worry, I'm sure there'll be other potential recipients Wink

JavaSparrow · 05/11/2014 22:34

I would like to nominate a close relative - letter must involve salsa dancing events in sw region.
Happy to send one to anywhere in uk from London or Croydon.

AndHarry · 12/11/2014 08:22

There are a few people looking for writers - anyone up for sending a card or round-robin who hasn't been matched yet (or wants to do 2!)?

OP posts:
MrsCosmopilite · 12/11/2014 19:57

AndHarry - I think I have you possibly writing for me? I'm happy to send one for anyone unmatched.

AndHarry · 12/11/2014 20:11

Yes you do :) JavaSparrow and AMillionNameChanges do you need someone to write still?

dancingwitch · 12/11/2014 20:28

christmasmcazza - I can do one for you with a Bucks postmark. Tell me a bit more about your recipients. Also, what names would you suggest? Roy would be a bit too unusual amongst my parents' friends for them to forget so I went for Sue and Peter last year when I did one for my parents.
My suggestions for adding to confusion are:

  • if a family member or friend has a wedding, 60th birthday or similar celebration coming up or a distant relative has died, refer to it;
  • if the recipients have been somewhere or done something that they have recommended to all & sundry, say something along the lines of "after you mentioned X, we tried it and enjoyed it as much as you said we would". I love doing these!
Minnie911 · 12/11/2014 22:38

I'm happy to write one for someone with an Aberdeen postmark!
Would really like one sent to my in-laws who would know it was me but be totally thrown off with a further afield postmark..cannot be glasgow as have family there :-)

Minnie911 · 13/11/2014 09:29

Duckbilled - do you fancy doing mine?

RomeoDone · 13/11/2014 10:20

I would love this for my mum and stepdad. Worcester postmark would be brilliant but don't really care. I Can do one to post from Birmingham area xxx

DamselNotInHerDress · 13/11/2014 10:29

CatThief, I know you said you were busy, but pleeeeeaasseee would you consider doing one for my mum again? You did theirs last year and I still crack up when I remember going round there and she handed it to me and was completely baffled! She is the kind of person who makes friends everywhere so she was racking her brains. My god it was funny Grin

RoganJosh · 13/11/2014 10:36

I can do one from Yorkshire. Happy to do two.
I've got one person in mind I'd love to send one to.

Littlegreyauditor · 13/11/2014 12:26

I'm happy to send one from NI...can offer a choice of postmarks as I live right in the middle Grin

Wibblypiglikesbananas · 13/11/2014 13:14

I'm in the US but happy to send one from here. Just PM me. If anyone wants to send one to my PILs in the UK, that would be amazing. They chat to EVERYONE so am sure will assume they actually know Janet and Roy!

ByTheWishingWell · 13/11/2014 13:18

I'd love for someone somewhere in Greater Manchester to send one to my parents. Grin

Reastie · 13/11/2014 13:26

I LOVE this idea but anyone I can think who would be driven mad by this I could not keep a straight face when they told me about it.

CornChips · 13/11/2014 13:36

I am sending one to my parents. Roy had prostate issues, but it was not related to that other business and Janet has forgiven him. Janet has also joined the WI and her lemon drizzle cake recipe is in hot demand. Their daughter has returned home and the ankle tag is barely visible with a nice trouser suit on. And they will be popping by for a decaf cup of tea january 4th, about noon.

To be fair- I expect my parents will know it is me in about 30 seconds flat. Grin
