I was doing so well. Everything I'd bought for Christmas had been on sale. However my DD kept asking for a toy kitty that moved. I'd been ignoring them in the hope that it was a passing fancy. But she's kept it up for 3 months now and it was the one thing that went in her letter to Santa this weekend.

I had to buy an overpriced Furreal Friends Daisy cat as it is now out of stock everywhere. Gah. I hope it turns up.

Cuddlymoomoo - have you tried using the Game stock alert? I have used it before and they email you when something comes back in stock - if you are ready to click straight away you then get it.

Pineapple thanks - I'll look in Primark...

Homebirthing last year there were a couple of periods where the Daily Mail (I know... ) had offers of a discounted family railcard for £10. If you google you might find out more - was on Moneysavingexpert too. I just wondered if they would do it again at some stage - if you can hang on and not buy the railcard yet you might find they repeat the offer.

ChestnutsroastingintheFireligh · 09/12/2013 11:04

DM railcard offer is usually around Juneish time. You get a free one for 3 months them a discount on a 12 month one.

zipzap · 09/12/2013 11:05

homebirthing is it expensive because of the time of the train you are getting?

I live the other side out of london and anything before about 9.30/10am is a silly price to get into london but gets much cheaper once it is out of commuter time. There are also two different services that go into London through here - if you get a ticket for one or other of them rather than a general ticket that allows you to get on either it is also much cheaper. Beyond that you can even get it at silly cheap prices if you reserve a ticket on an actual train (although the downside is that if you miss it, you've forfeited it and need to buy another one for the next train).

it's also worth looking at split ticketing if you're travelling around the time of cross over from peak to non-peak. Basically means that instead of buying a ticket from A to B you buy a ticket from A to C which is the part of your journey that is in peak time and then from C to B which is in off-peak time. Can work out much cheaper. And you don't need to change trains you just work out which is the first train station your train will be stopping at that once non-peak hours start... Look on the moneysavingexpert site - all explained much more clearly!

Finally if you do have to pay full whack, check to see if there are any freebies or deals as a result of having your ticket - one of the trains services going from here does half price entry into lots of london attractions for example...

Oh someone posted ages ago about a nails inc calendar type thing. With a different nail varnish for each month of the year.

Just got an email from amazon saying they've run out and are getting no more. I've fallen in love with it. I need it in my life. Shock Anyone seen it anywhere else?

Sillybillybob · 09/12/2013 11:52

CatAmongThePigeons · 09/12/2013 12:05

have a problem, DS1 has been desperately asking Santa for one of those Teksta Puppy things for a while, but they're £60. I cannot spend £60 on a Santa gift, any total bargains on it

craftynclothy · 09/12/2013 12:07

Twinings have free delivery this week. I've bought some individual tea bags for stocking fillers for myself at 20p each or 35p for the fancy silk ones. They also have some of their gift sets reduced.

CatAmongThePigeons · 09/12/2013 12:08

DrankSangriaInThePark · 09/12/2013 12:08

I have just cancelled (well, I didn't in the end) the Sun thing via Live Chat....young whippersnapper offered me a further £20 if I stayed another 14 days, I asked him how much that would cost me and he said with the £1 already a total of £9.47 but I'll end up with £30 of vouchers.....So I said yes.

We shall see if the £20 arrives!

Somebody earlier was looking for nice wine glasses.

Ebay currently have a mega deals day on that ends at midnight tonight; one of the items is a very nice set of 2 wine glasses, 4 liqueur glasses and a glass decanter all made by Royal Worcester. £19 instead of £99.

Lots of other stuff too in all sorts of departments - plus there's an extra 5% off if you spend more than £40. Worth having a look through - last week they had furby's for £44, haven't had a chance to look for them this week. lots of xmas jumpers. lots of reduced video games, kitchen accessories, etc etc
