Spotty my top wrapping tip is to use the ironing board. You can adjust the height for sitting or standing, and you have a long flat surface that you can walk 360 deg round for awkward items.

Use the iron rest for the scissors and tape!

LucyTheValiant · 08/12/2013 19:49

Has anyone seen any codes for Next? DP likes their chinos but I don't want to pay full price for anything any more!

BobCrotchstitch · 08/12/2013 20:02

Cuddlymoomoo!!
Can't PM you as I am on my phone but I have an xbox One on preorder that I no longer need. I am in Dorset so not sure if you are local or are desperate enough to pay for a courier.
If you are then PM me, I am going into town to cancel the order tomorrow so if we can work out something so that it comes to you then great Xmas Grin

BobCrotchstitch · 08/12/2013 20:06

oreo my DM has still not uttered the fateful words "what would you and DH like for Christmas?"
TBH she's not known for her organisational skills but I am starting to get seriously twitchy Xmas Grin
Either that or this year promises to be one of her "big surprise" years Xmas Confused

SpottyChristmasCakes · 08/12/2013 20:11

Thanks for the wrapping tips Smile I'm going to go to sainsburys tomorrow to get some paper (apparently it's half price?) after dropping dd and nursery and before going to work, all in different directions ::sob::

Penguinbeaver · 08/12/2013 20:15

oreo can I ask where you are getting your calendar from? I was waiting for the groupon photobox deal like last year but thinking its getting too late now and should just order some!

MooseyMoo · 08/12/2013 20:22

I just clicked on the present thingy on Quidco and won £10 Cashback if I ordered something from Play.com in 24 hours. I'd had my eye on Despicable Me for ages. I haven't seen it but have read the reviews and it sounds like my kind of movie. So I've bought the boxset for £9 - well chuffed. And it has tracked both the purchase and the £10 - woo!

Physionic · 08/12/2013 20:29

spottychristmascakes am I right in thinking you're on southwest trains? If so would the 'group save discount' work?

LucyTheValiant · 08/12/2013 20:38

If anyone's DC are into lego, these two books are less than £5 each on The Book People. They look pretty sturdy.

Lego Play Book

The Lego Ideas Book

cuddlymoomoo · 08/12/2013 20:45

Bob!!! I will PM you :)

cuddlymoomoo · 08/12/2013 20:47

Oh no Bob I can't PM you, it won't work - can you try me first please?

eatyouwithaspoon · 08/12/2013 20:50

has anyone seen any cheap dvd's? I need 3 Dispicable me 2, Wreck it Ralph and monsters inc I think?

cuddlymoomoo · 08/12/2013 20:53

Wreck it Ralph's cheap everywhere - even HMV (usually pricey) have it for £5.99 I think

BobCrotchstitch · 08/12/2013 20:53

PM'd you cuddly Xmas Smile

cuddlymoomoo · 08/12/2013 20:55

Bob - if we do manage to communicate, then maybe Game would let me pay by phone and send it to me as I'm at the opposite end of the country to you? I could then reimburse you for the deposit? If they're as Christmassy at all Hmm.

SpottyChristmasCakes · 08/12/2013 20:57

Physionic I bloody love you!! I never knew about that it cuts the cost by half! It does say we all have to travel together though which could be a slight problem as friends are a way back down the line. For that saving though I'm sure we can sort it out Smile

Reastie · 08/12/2013 20:58

oreo I was thinking that ironing board tip was absolute genius for me....until I realise we don't own an ironing board Blush

Oreocrumbs · 08/12/2013 21:04

Penguin - I haven't decided yet. I need 4, 3 identical ones and one different one.

I was going to wait until I get the pics I need from my cousin before I decide where I'm going, as the deals are changing all the time.

As it stands, I still favour photobox - only because I find them very good quality - but if there are very good deals somewhere else I will go there.

So not a helpful answer!!

I'm itching to get it done though, so I think I will do my 3 tomorrow night, I'll post tomorrow with where I find the best deals, and then probably get stung on the price of the last one when he eventually emails the pics on bloody Christmas eve probably Xmas Grin

Oreocrumbs · 08/12/2013 21:05

Reastie - My Ironing board is only used for weddings, funerals, christenings and Christmas wrapping Xmas Wink.

SpottyChristmasCakes · 08/12/2013 21:07

I used mine today because dd had a party to go to and her dress had been crumpled (clean) in the washing basket for a week 4 weeks

LaTrucha · 08/12/2013 21:27

DS, when a baby, grew out of an outfit while it was still in the ironing basket Grin

I took a day off to wrap presents and make menus. I just wrapped presents and I'm still not done! And I'm not that fussy about how they look. Blush

Penguinbeaver · 08/12/2013 21:33

Thanks oreo I too am needing to get a few done but favour the quality of photobox (but not their prices) if I see any good deals i shall let you know, thanks again

zipzap · 08/12/2013 21:42

hoppingmad have you signed up for the box of awesome? (box of omg is for girls) - think the link is in the intro links.

It's usually a few packs of match attax type cards and a book but mine this month has just arrived and had some packets of doctor who/match attax/star wars cards in and a bear grylls book. Last time book was a bit more grown up.

Not so much amazing more box of meh but it is free and I've had three of them through so far so it would be something that kept turning up for him which might be nice.

Play.com have some decent boys/blokey nerdy tshirts for about £5-10 including ones with dr who things on like Gallifrey Road/Evolution of the Daleks/Keep calm and regenerate/Gallifrey university etc etc

They also have loads of dr who things on at the moment - including a dr who tardis flesh goo pod for a mere £3.65. Or loads of posters for around a fiver (including a big one that looks like it is door sized of the tardis door)

Chocolateteabag · 08/12/2013 21:51

Thanks Moosey - just did the Quidco present thingy and got £14 cash back for Accessorise - just ordered a selection of necklaces to try for New Year's Eve must choose just one and send rest back

Am now 39 weeks with Dc2 so no more RL shopping for me, almost finished shopping, but have the fear that once I'm done, will jinx me into having a late arrival - really want this one out before Christmas!!

zipzap · 08/12/2013 21:51

Has everybody been doing the mumsnet 12 days of christmas competitions?

The comp for today is to win £100 to spend at Matalan but they are also doing 30% off for all Mnetters... vouchers and details here
