Now I am nosy intrigued as to how much the dreaded 'twitch' cost you last year. I probably won't start twitching until at least the second week only December when things are getting wrapped... But it cost £140 with oh I don't think dbil has as much as dfil etc etc .

Tell me your stories Grin and make me feel better

Got the twitch today, but was in poundland so that's ok yes?! Picked up some nail varnishes (and remover and some gems!) for DD2 then had to get some more bits for DD1 as well! Managed to avoid buying tat anything for them in Primark but might take them late night shopping and choose something as had some nice looking partywear. Crazy family that we are we go to Disneyland Paris on the 19th (till late on 23rd) but have been good and not bought too much specifically to take, having DS 6 weeks ago somewhat took my mind of it! Smile

totally twitching- am laid up in bed for the next few weeks, just getting up to answer the door to Amazon every 2 hours.

Rubybrazilianwax · 09/12/2013 22:08

I have deleted my amazon app until after christmas to prevent twitching

OLittleTownOfBarflehem · 09/12/2013 22:29

I'm twitching like crazy. I always make sure that my niece and nephew have the same amount of presents, but this year she is getting a sewing machine and a mannequin, as well as material etc. He has two very expensive games. I'm looking at their piles and fretting.

First time I've ever fretted about piles

I've just started selling my pictures too, so everyone iis getting one of those, so I worry that I'm cheap, making so many presents....

TheOneWithTheHair · 09/12/2013 22:31

That is a really good idea Rubybrazilianwax but I can't bring myself to do it. What if I neeeeeeed something?!?

Just done dh stocking and present and I'm actually really pleased. He warned me against buying tat for him this year and I really haven't unless you count the novelty apron. Blush

No twitch yet. I'll start ds2 tomorrow and I know I won't twitch then as I've already bought him too much stuff. It's dd and ds1 I'm worried about.

pandaptogether · 09/12/2013 23:05

This happened to us today. had finished wrapping all the presents and had them laid out on the floor when DH insists it doesnt look enough and gets on to amazon. £70 later, and we have another day off together to go still...........

feelingfuckingfestiveok · 10/12/2013 00:06

This thread made me twitch into action as I had nto bought DD's main present after chasing stuff for DS round twitcherweb. (Skylanders)

Have done and delivered all family except DM's

Think I've got all DC's now just last bits like pens/pencils.

Ive been very good with sweets etc. Only bought the choc snowman/santa from Asda. DM has just brought a bag full of goodies so I shant be buying anymore.

DH and I arnt bothering to buy - we have splurgers during the year.

Reported.

DumSpiroSperHoHoHo · 10/12/2013 06:47

My budget doesn't really stretch to twitching this year Sad but actually I don't have many people to buy for and DD is sorted, so just need to not get too carried away with the food shopping as we have people coming to us on Christmas day for the first time in years.

Last year, however, was a nightmare. Had bought DD Jessie J concert tickets for early Feb, and 2 days before Christmas the tour was postponed until Nov. Couldn't really expect an 8yo to wait nearly a year for her main present, and had the added pressure of the IL's having bought her a sodding iPad so ended up doing fairly extreme panic buying.

DD had the JJ tickets for her birthday later in the year and I have to say it was well worth the wait Xmas Grin!

Sparklingbrook · 10/12/2013 07:17

I am not twitching just yet. I am fighting it. Grin

TheOneWithTheHair · 10/12/2013 07:39

iirc Sparkling, you are the queen of twitching. I joined mnet at Christmas time two years ago and I'm sure you had a twitching thread which helped me settle in.

Sparklingbrook · 10/12/2013 07:43

I have had a twitching thread for the last 2 years TheOne. Grin I am indeed 'QueenTwitch'.

TheOneWithTheHair · 10/12/2013 07:51

QueenTwitch. Xmas Grin

coffeeinbed · 10/12/2013 08:18

I'm immune to it.
No twitch whatsoever.

Sparklingbrook · 10/12/2013 08:53

It's early yet. In two week's time, It will hit.

coffeeinbed · 10/12/2013 08:55

No.
Guaranteed. Grin
I'll sign in here again then!

Sparklingbrook · 10/12/2013 08:58

What usually happens is someone on the twitch thread says 'Have you got a and the whole thread goes 'OMG no-I need one'.

It was star shaped bowls in Aldi last year. Grin

coffeeinbed · 10/12/2013 09:00

I'll consider myself warned!

JugglingUnwiselyWithBaubles · 10/12/2013 09:03

"I will think only about buying Brussels Sprouts and other things I need" Xmas Grin@ Cremola

Trouble is I've even had brussels sprouts twitchs before now - when you see some fancy brussels still on their stalk and think you just have to upgrade from the regular bag of sprouts you already have at home, because it will be educational and fun for the DC Xmas Grin

JugglingUnwiselyWithBaubles · 10/12/2013 09:12

That will happen with my on the stalk brussels sprouts comment Sparkling
There'll be a late run on the things just like the year Delia mentioned cranberries Xmas Grin
And cranberries too now I've said that!

TheOneWithTheHair · 10/12/2013 09:30

I remember innocently mentioning MIL's Father Christmas coasters and sending the twitch thread in a spin. Especially as I had no clue where she got them from.

ThomasLynn · 10/12/2013 09:31

I'm twitching like mad- DD's seemingly tiny stocking is a fecking Tardis and I'm forcibly reminded of how DB and my much, much larger stockings fairly bulged on Christmas morning. But what with? How did my parents manage this?

More to the point, how did they manage this without destroying the bank account and still finalising nursery accounts and such like?

JugglingUnwiselyWithBaubles · 10/12/2013 09:37

You need some big, cheap, traditional fillers for a stocking Lynn - we always had an apple and a tangerine, and it became part of the tradition - love that orangey smell - sooo Christmassy Xmas Smile
A bag of chocolate coins will fill up the toe nicely as well x
I think I remember other lumpy, bumpy things too, how about a bag of marbles?

ThomasLynn · 10/12/2013 09:49

Hah! Brilliant! Chocolate coins, a big orange and some giant marbles...

Thanks, Juggling!
