I thought it might be easier for all including Reastie if we had a separate bargain thread for food and drink.

Reastie hoping I'm not stepping on your toes here Smile

Assuming the offers will move quickly mind.

I'm planning an online shop at tesco later so will let you know what bargains are there at the moment.

Sainsburys are doing a german brand stollen, that is about 1/3 price of sainsbury's own stollen- looked very tasty for a bargain price... but can't remember name!

RhondaJean · 18/10/2013 09:21

Just been in asda loads of spirits at £11. Didn't have time to check all but def drambuie, Gordon's, Morgan's, Bacardi etc.

mumtoone1 · 18/10/2013 10:30

Poundland have a decent size box of Milk Tray chocolates for... £1.

About half the size of a normal box, about 10 chocolates. Very good value.

OneUp · 18/10/2013 11:22

Waitrose have a bag of little marshmellows for 95p at the moment. Good for anyone doing snowman soup and a reasonable size for the price.

Confusedbyyou · 18/10/2013 11:42

Thanks OneUp - I need them for snowman soup

TheYamiOfYawn · 18/10/2013 11:56

Aldi have a magazine in-store at the moment with a voucher for money off a festive item each week between now and the new year. This week is 30% off a shortbread selection tin. The following weeks are for 20% off mince pies, 30% of a Christmas pudding, 50% off crackers, 50 off Moser Roth chocolate Santas (Lindt quality for a fraction of the price), 30% of jars of cranberry sauce with port, 20% off a four bird roast, 30%off Yule logs, 30%off frozen roasting potatoes in goose fat ( I don't recommend them), 20% off beef Wellington, 30% off camembert and 50% off hand cooked crisps. They have also released the details of the specials between now and the start of January.

MooseyMoo · 18/10/2013 12:43

Morrisons also have Terry's choc orange for £1

Just had email from Waitrose to say their Christmas food order catalogue is out now, and you can view online now too

TheOneWithTheHair · 18/10/2013 13:14

Great thread. I'll be getting the marshmallows and good idea to stock up on cheaper chocolate for eating now melting later. Grin

I was in quality save yesterday and they had thorntons advent calendars for £2.50.

Coveredinweetabix · 18/10/2013 16:32

For sprout haters, a good stocking filler might be the little bag of chocolate sprouts that M&S are doing. Or for anyone as an alternative to chocolate coins.

This year, Cadburys have brought out a "big purple one" and a "big green one" which is a box in the shape of the purple caramel hazelnut Quality St or the green triangle one filled with mini versions of the same. I think it was only about £4 in ASDA but was £7 in Sainsburys.

shelley72 · 18/10/2013 16:48

Thorntons have 5 boxes of chocolates for £20 - includes classic and premium box, mint selection as well as advent calendars and father Christmas / reindeer / snowman and snowdog figures. Quite a good buy if you like chocolate.

Also lots of half price biscuits in m&s - boxes of butter shortbread for 2·50 and Belgian chocolate biscuits on offer too.

AllThatGlistens · 18/10/2013 17:43

Loving this thread.

Is it just me (saddo) that has their Christmas food trolley filled at Ocado waiting for the end of the month to book my slot? Grin sooo glad they now deliver to my area.

Would never, ever use Asda again, half of my order was missing and the substitutions were bizarre!

Reastie · 18/10/2013 18:04

If anyone sees any good offers on tassimo discs please let me know yes I am still looking Thanks

When do the ocado christmas slots come up? I need to sign up for delivery pass but don't want to do it until christmas delivery slots come up.

Iamsanta · 18/10/2013 18:31

Thanks rhonda. Didn't even know that asda sold Thorntons. That's saves me a 20 mile trip.

Iamsanta · 18/10/2013 18:42

Anyone seen the DIY gingerbread houses???I think either aldis or lidl's sold them last year.

TyrannosaurusBex · 18/10/2013 18:49

Got the marshmallows! Waitrose has boxes of peppermint candy canes for 95p - probably less on the mainland.

RhondaJean · 18/10/2013 19:03

Best be fast I am, I was in this morning and there's no thorntons selection boxes left in mines.

I'm wondering if I hallucinated the spirits too, especially the Drambuiewww as I can't see it online, may need to go investigate!

Iamsanta · 18/10/2013 19:07

Thanks, I will try and pop in tomorrow.

Lovely thread idea too.

VoldemortsNipple · 18/10/2013 19:15

Hi all, just been to Tesco and Pringles are on bogof at £2.49. If you can avoid popping them open before Christmas.

My top tip is always check the whoops to see what they have. We often have Indian things from the deli which are fine frozen. Plus things like bacon and sausages which always come in handy and will help to cut down on the final food food shop.

everydayaschoolday · 18/10/2013 20:01

Our Aldi has some Christmas stock in, that is Best-before dated beyond New Years for any early buyers:

Frozen Turkey crown 2.17Kg £9.99
Chocolate coins (white and milk) 50p
1lt Gluhwein (authentic German Mulled wine) £4.99
Stollen bites £1.99
Christmas Pudding. Various sizes. Luxury medium size: £3.79

everydayaschoolday · 18/10/2013 20:05

just checked the 'bargain-ess' of that frozen turkey crown. Tesco own brand, equivalent size (2kg-2.3kg), frozen turkey crown is £17. Hurrah!

RhondaJean · 18/10/2013 20:23

Re turkey

It's a little more expensive but a darn site cheaper than markies - can I recommend this farm shop close to me over tesco/lidl/aldi whatever.

Their produce is excellent. They ship in insulated packages and Offer free deliv over £35 so if you got together with a few others you could get that. It will last beautifully in the freezer and they do next day delivery - but they are a small supplier in the grand scale of things so don't leave it too late.
