Chocky - Argos are very good at bagging up behind the counter. I usually tell DCs it's something boring for the kitchen. I'm a bit abashed that they always believe me!

MisForMumNotMaid · 08/07/2013 17:53

Wow that playmobil school is fantastic. Just reserved for DD's 3rd Birthday in January!

olivo · 08/07/2013 18:20

I have bought the school for Dds 4 th birthday. DD1 would like it though, and she is 7! That's why it is perfect, it'll keep them both occupied!

Chockywockydoodah · 08/07/2013 18:21

thanks LaTrucha good to know that! Wink

PoppyWearer · 08/07/2013 18:59

The colour in playhouse is a good price - would be a good one for a birthday present.

Taffeta · 08/07/2013 19:25

Sarah Raven sale on, lovely stuff in home section

Murtette · 08/07/2013 20:02

For those of you with the Playmobil school (which I'm about to take a look at) - DD is 3.8 and has just started playing with Playmobil. She loves it. It is incredibly intricate, especially in contrast to Happyland/Little People stuff. I'd say its more suitable for 4yo than 3yo. But has tiny bits so its easy to lose them & you have to be very careful if you have a baby (as we do) as a lot of it could be swallowed. DD just has a couple of the smaller sets and is only allowed to play with them at the kitchen table & preferably when DS is napping.

Murtette · 08/07/2013 20:15

Also just reserved the Playmobil school! That's DD's Xmas present sorted. And for her bday she's having a bike (not that I've got that yet) and DS will be having something down from the loft (DDs old toys are all up there) for Xmas so that's the kids sorted!

MortifiedAdams · 08/07/2013 20:47

Anyone woth the school already - does it come with all the people? Just on the website when I clicked on it, it shows alternative products and one of them is "Fully Furnished School" for the £100odd price?

ive found one in stock at a nearish store so will collect tomorrow but am.worried it is just an enpty school.

Oreocrumbs · 08/07/2013 21:02

It comes with 10 people, and some school stuff like a blackboard, pens, books, back packs, a skeleton(!).

There are two schools, they appear to be the same school building but the cheaper one (this one) has a small selection of bits, where I think the other has more.

I think there is more than enough in this kit, and certainly for the price difference.

Oreocrumbs · 08/07/2013 21:05

Having just looked at the box for Mortified, I'm wondering how long this is going to take to build? There are 491 pieces!

Should I start now in the hope it is ready for Christmas day? Grin

Murtette · 08/07/2013 21:08

The spec for the more expensive one is :

?The Playmobil Large School Building comes with a classroom complete with a fully functional blackboard, desks, posters and many books, a science lab with skeleton and microscope.
? Also includes office with PCs and drinks making facilities, boys and girls toilets, and an art and music room complete with instruments, paint sets and sculptures.
? Includes 9 Playmobil figures, a chiming break bell and over 50 accessories.

The spec for the cheaper one is:
?The Playmobil School Building features your favourite lessons and comes with 10 Playmobil figure and over 60 accessories.
?The Maths room has a functional blackboard.
?The Science room contains a microscope, test tubes and a full-size skeleton.
?There's lots of activity in the Art room with painting and drawing.
?The music group can practice during break times.
?One supplied.

So it seems you get slightly more in the cheaper one (1 more figure and 10 more accessories). Is the more expensive one the "new improved" version and therefore they're trying to get rid of old stock? Tbh, I don't care. Its such a bargain. DD is going to be so excited and I am getting excited thinking about her excitement in 5 months and 13 days time (or however long it is!).

Oreo - I hadn't even put the school on CamelCamel as it was so beyond my budget I hadn't dreamed I'd be able to get it for DD.

MortifiedAdams · 08/07/2013 21:10

Ahh great! totally not worth the extra then!

Oreocrumbs · 08/07/2013 21:10

I know, I was tracking it, but it wasn't really with an intention to buy, I'm reluctant to tie that much money up on one toy for a small child!

I'm over the moon that it turned up on this thread Grin

MortifiedAdams · 08/07/2013 21:12

DH seems to think Im.nuts buying it.in for DD for when she is 3/4 (she is 19mo ) but he will realise how worth it it is when we only need a stocking doing that christmas!

Oreocrumbs · 08/07/2013 21:16

Ah bless him, my DP thinks I'm mad too, I stockpile bargains!

Reastie · 08/07/2013 21:17

I just hide it all from DH now Grin

OP posts:
Chockywockydoodah · 08/07/2013 21:35

I hide my batgain buys from DH too! They just "magically" appear at Christmas/birthdays!! Grin

Chockywockydoodah · 08/07/2013 21:36

Tssk bargain (not batgain) buys!

PoppyWearer · 08/07/2013 21:42

491 pieces! Shock

I also stash stuff up in the loft away from DH and yes, it appears on the day. So glad I'm not the only one! I do try to stick to a vague budget but DH never believes I've stuck to it when he sees the mountain of stuff.

The problem with hiding it is that I forget what I've bought!

BuffyFairy · 08/07/2013 22:03

Mortified I've been wishing I could stockpile it for my DD, 21m but we don't have the space. Wondering if it's worth asking the in laws to keep it at theirs.

Does anyone know if there's a Playmobil 'find' most years?

BoffinMum · 08/07/2013 22:44

Mortified, bugger giving that away. Just set it up as a Free School in your back garden and claim £m in Government subsidies Wink

jenbird · 08/07/2013 22:47

There were LaLoopsy dolls in B and M today for £9.99 and the mini ones for £7.99
