I've seen it come up on here before but I can't work out what it is. Can you get away with using the cheap stuff?

JJ in my experience, vodka helps the conception process. I have two little vodkas and a pinot grigio. I am now on the wagon.

JollyJock · 13/11/2012 19:49

Gussie, that literally made me laugh out loud Grin

zgaze · 13/11/2012 21:00

Definitely dark rum for the Christmas pudding one, it goes a beautiful tawny colour and I think a smoother flavour

I've bought my bottles from this site www.sen5esbottles.co.uk - I went for the 100ml dorica bottles, a nice couple of shots portion size and they are a good solid shape. Really helpful man who runs the site who didn't mind my piddly little order of just a few bottles as well.

I'm making special labels that say 'Moonshine Home Brewery' Grin

HAs any one tried this with snickers bars? Will it work?

fuzzpig · 14/11/2012 15:38

DSS (20, so not being an irresponsible stepmum :o) loves bananas... Banana vodka? Foam banana vodka?!?

bucksmum · 14/11/2012 15:38

So we now have :

Christmas Pudding Vodka
Christmas Berry Rum
Limoncello
Mars Bar Vodka
After Eight Vodka

Quite fancy Turkish Delight Vodka as well!!!

aimingtobeaperfectionist · 14/11/2012 17:25

Diet- I think it would, you'd just have to strain it after.
Fuzz- yes! I bet foam bananas would dissolve quick too.
I'm planning on chocolate orange, mint chocolate and chocolate caramel for me as gifts.

dietstartsmonday · 14/11/2012 19:01

Hmm i can do that! BIL sorted then!

Peanutbutterfingers · 14/11/2012 22:26

My After Eight vodka has separated and looks pretty grim...

Still, only day 3 I bet my bro will still drink it

squeakytoy · 14/11/2012 23:30

and today I made...

watermelon vodka (watermelon jelly sweets)
cinnamon and aniseed vodka (which tastes just like sambuca!)

I am having problems with everything in the bottle dissolving on just one cycle in the dishwasher but its getting there!!

flyoverthegoldenhill · 15/11/2012 13:26

squeaky now I've got to go to the sweet shop

JollyJock · 15/11/2012 15:05

Do you think Percy Pig vodka would work?

aimingtobeaperfectionist · 15/11/2012 19:20

Jolly- yes! And I bet it's amazing. Mmm, try it and let us know.
What about fizzy Percy? Percy and friends?

ImperialBlether · 15/11/2012 23:20

This thread is fantastic! I had no idea you could do this. I'm going to do this next week and would appreciate precise measurements!

rosiesmartypants · 15/11/2012 23:57

Homemade cola cube vodka is delicious!! Pear drops are fab too :) I did once use the food processor to crush the sweets and badly scratched the bowl...oops!

YankeeAlphaBravoUniform · 16/11/2012 09:33

I am also dishwasher less.

i am thinking of chocolate orange flavour, mint matchmakers flavour, parma violet flavour and I need inspiration for one other that will work well.

OlaRapaceFru · 16/11/2012 09:36

Caramac? I've never made a Caramac one, but I love the chocolate. Also, Caramac is quite thin - as opposed to chunky - so it will probably melt more quickly, especially as you haven't got a dishwasher.

YankeeAlphaBravoUniform · 16/11/2012 09:43

Oh, good thought!

I want to make a couple for a friend, and a couple for my son.

crappypatty · 16/11/2012 19:15

Thanks for this thread.

I have just made mine, Caramac, Mars bar, Rubarb & Custard, Kola cubes and Sour skittles.

Got a bargain on my Vodka, Tesco had Smirnoff export blue label 50% proof 1 litre reduced from £28 to £14.

I am going to get some nice bottles and labels and give them to a few family and friends.

How long does it take until they have some flavour in them??

OlaRapaceFru · 16/11/2012 19:19

All the chocolatey ones are ready immediately (assuming the chocolate has melted into the vodka).

I don't know about the 'hard sweets' ones, cos I've never made them.

Dawnywoo · 16/11/2012 20:20

Oh my god I can definitely vouch for the chocolate orange vodka being particularly moreish....

Will have to replace it now with some caramac vodka I think.

Well, it is a friday night after all, and I've just had 9 whole months of pregnancy followed by a whole year of alcohol free breastfeeding so I thoght maybe I deserved a little treat... hic!

Mine are in the dishwasher now, bit nervous!

Hoping the bottles don't explode or anything equally as disatrous.

AmberLeaf · 17/11/2012 16:47

Ok bottles in tact, but some of the sweets not completely dissolved, will that happen over time if I just let it cool and then shake the bottle daily?

GlaikitFizzog · 17/11/2012 16:51

Yep, that's what happened with my black jack and fruit salad bottles. All dissolved within a week.
