Brilliant suggestions so far.

I found this tartan trout facebook shop the other day.

It has some great Christmas pudding spoons for sale - with cute little glass puddings on (£10.00 plus p and p I think) as well as a cheese knife with a little glass mouse on it. Thinking about these for the 'adults that have everything' and good to have something a little bit individual.

Juaneeze · 20/10/2012 15:09

Thanks to the genius of you guys I have officially started my Christmas shopping. As this is such a momentous event in my life I treated myself to a few things too Wink

laurenamium · 20/10/2012 15:22

Marking place on new thread!

AndWhenYouGetThere · 20/10/2012 15:23

Everydayaschoolday - you are brilliant! Not even Santa himself could have done a better job! Thank you!

lazzaroo · 20/10/2012 15:28

I'm sure you are probably all more organised than me but just a note of caution to keep an eye on all your orders! I had order of jolly Christmas postman cancelled by the book people. I queried it and was told by the time my order was processed they had none left!

I also ordered 2 cafatieres from Debenhams which were highlighted in the last thread. Today I received 1 espresso maker! Just been on phone to customer services. apparently, again, on processing my order they found my required item to be out of stock so they just seen 'like for like'....except they aren't very alike! Oh, and They don't know why I have only received 1!

Got to keep track on bank statements now!

louiespence · 20/10/2012 15:45

Anyone looking for children's books, try WHSmith

You can get an additional 20% off these half price books with the code WHSPIC20 and delivery is free for orders of £15, or if you collect from a store.
I have just ordered some Julia Donaldson books (Room on a Broom, Stick Man etc) for £2.79 each! These have been on my Amazon wish list for a while for £3.46, so I am pleased with this find!

nickeldaisical · 20/10/2012 15:50

I can do those book bundles like Smith's does....

nickeldaisical · 20/10/2012 15:52

(i am now sobbing about these book bargains.
yet another year when I have no customers because I can't match the prices on individual books)

zipzap · 20/10/2012 15:56

louiespence - check out the book people - they have a Julia donaldson set of 10 books for £9.99 and other sets of hers or ones she has books in equally as cheaply.

Lots of book people codes around for cheap delivery or money off too - op has some listed in the op.

BlameItOnTheCuervForHumanBlood · 20/10/2012 16:00

Oh nickel Sad the bundles are a great idea though!

EdsRedeemingQualities · 20/10/2012 16:01

I rarely buy a load of books at once like that Nickel...I don't like it. I'd rather go to a proper shop. Though I do use Amazon now and again.

(no offence book bundle people!)

BuffyFairy · 20/10/2012 16:04

Thanks Reastie for the new thread and round up. You'll need some Wine for tonight.

I thought it was very quiet today on the old thread! Grin

Picked up my Happyland order today. Dd is going to love them.

TheAngelsHaveTheOod · 20/10/2012 16:06

nickel they are usually not the latest books though crap attempt to make you feel better
And it looks like there's a shortage of the jolly Christmas postman so you could make something there of you've any!

nickeldaisical · 20/10/2012 16:06

you could use Hive instead of A@~:@ - they have discounts, too.

I'm going to do the bundles.
I do have Bogofs in my shop, which is like half price
I've got the Alex Rider series on Bogof and Where's Wally. Grin

EdsRedeemingQualities · 20/10/2012 16:07

I've never heard of Hive. But I don't buy that many books.

nickeldaisical · 20/10/2012 16:07

Angels - you're right, they're all "stockroom books" ! Wink

I have got the Jolly Christmas Postman.

BlatherskiteOfTheLivingDead · 20/10/2012 16:08

I ordered a copy of The Jolly Christmas postman months ago as ime, it's the only way to get one at a decent price. They go fro silly money by December if you can find one.

I do still need a Christmas eve book for DD who will be 3 the week before Christmas. Do you have any suggestions Nickel? Is there a Christmas Gruffalo book?

louiespence · 20/10/2012 16:08

Thanks zipzap I looked at that set by the Book People but it didn't contain any of the titles that I wanted Sad , shame as its fab value!

I just checked and The Book People are selling Stick Man and Room on the Broom for £8 each, so I'm even more pleased now with paying £2.79 at WHSmiths.

lizmarshmallow · 20/10/2012 16:09

Shamelessly marks place

nickeldaisical · 20/10/2012 16:09

it's www.hive.co.uk

it's a book distributor, and they give a (albeit very small) commission of sales to the nearest independent bookshop (or you can nominate your own for the commission to go to)
I normally make about £15 a month from being a member. :)

BlameItOnTheCuervForHumanBlood · 20/10/2012 16:09

I buy bundles of books, I separate them and keep some aside for birthdays/emergency presents. Ds has a few of the roald dahl books already, the ones he has will go to school friends and my nephew.

everydayaschoolday · 20/10/2012 16:10

andwhenyougetthere glad to have been of help Smile

nickeldaisical · 20/10/2012 16:13

Blath - there isn't a christmas Gruffalo book, but there's
Shirley Hughes's Christmas Eve Ghost,
Father Christmas needs a Wee
Reindeer's Christmas party (pop-up) (that one's in the catalogue - did I send you an email with it on yet?)
12 days of christmas
Fox's Tale (the first christmas)

:)

nickeldaisical · 20/10/2012 16:13

I#ll email you :)
