Do not post yet. Do not. Sit on your hands, ladies.

OK, odd question but will dog chocolate melt?

We bake dog biscuits for ddog and his doggy friends (and dogs belonging to friends and family) at christmas and dd had a bright idea to add broken up dog chocolate drops to make dog friendly chocolate chip biscuits.

But, I'm not sure how dog chocolate behaves when cooked - any one tried it?

GrandPoohBah · 28/10/2012 17:59

No idea Tea, sorry.

I've just spent a happy half hour restringing my tree baubles from the mishmash of string/thread/odd wire they were hung by, onto thin red and gold ribbon. They look much better now.

WineGless · 28/10/2012 18:22

I have ordered my fabric ready to make my Christmas bunting. Limoncello and Xmas pudding vodka are stewing nicely. My sis can't drink vodka so am going to Make the citrus whisky.
Poncing going nicely. Am wondering about bay trees and if some fecker will nick them. The Pinterest boards are keeping me nicely occupied with ideas for poncing too

TeaOneSugar · 28/10/2012 19:38

I think, ddog will have to try an experimental batch, I'm sure he won't mind :)

VoldemortsNipple · 28/10/2012 21:00

I've got back in my Christmas poncing this weekend. :)

I started yesterday by rearranging furniture. The dining table was in the conservatory since we moved here so the dining room could be used as a second sitting room for the dcs. But in the grand scheme of things, the ambience was all wrong for a beautiful Christmas table :o

Today I've spent the majority of the day cutting out fabric pieces for my Christmas stockings. I'm making 6 in all, one for each of the family including the dog! They are going to look fab and very poncetastic.

Dh is away in Dublin doing his third marathon in a month, crazy man! So I'm poncing to my hearts content :)

TeaOneSugar · 29/10/2012 08:03

I need to get on top of the house this week.

fantashtic · 29/10/2012 08:13

Oh I am so pleased I am not the only one. Made ginger vodka yesterday, it is currently stewing out of my sight as is so delish. Also found little Kilner jars in Wilkinsons for only ONE pound for Xmas chutney. Have been poncing inside for weeks.

HipHopOpotomus · 29/10/2012 09:26

Book arrived - swoon.

It's all too much so I am officially resigning the ponce/thread. I have passed the book onto friends who will do it proper.

Will endeavour to get DD2's Xmas stocking completed for this Xmas though.

trumpton · 29/10/2012 20:47

TeaOneSugar I am a bit worried about you..... Get down from the roof .....

"I need to get on top of the house this week."

My Paperwhite narcissii bulbs arrived this morning. I grow them on pebbles in hurricane vases. LIKE THIS.
They smell amazing and last well over the Christmas holiday.

TeaOneSugar · 30/10/2012 18:43

[hgrin]

kickassangel · 31/10/2012 00:22

Sadly, we are flying to visit family for the entire Christmas period, so there will be very little poncery beyond the normal decorating of the house.

However, we have just had our first flurry of snow here, so I may achieve a ponce-tastic Christmas look sometime soon. Decorations go up the day after Thanksgiving here, so we could do a whole early Christmas thing.

Pootles2010 · 31/10/2012 15:42

I have bought some nacissi bulbs (not paperwhites - they'd run out Angry, now struggling to find bowls for them... they're not for me, I'd have done the hurricane vase thing, they're for elderly grannies, so I was thinkign some kind of pretty china bowl - how can something so everyday be so hard to come by?!

trumpton · 31/10/2012 16:04

Pootles looky here. Alcohol stunts growth....who would have thunk it ??!! HERE

What about charity shop glasses ?

girlywhirly · 31/10/2012 16:05

Pootles, could you root around in a few charity shops and find something there?

Pootles2010 · 31/10/2012 16:40

Oh thanks for that trumpton! Yes i will have to have a good hunt I think. To my shame i've never been in our charity shops, other than to drop off! Might be missing a trick...

VoldemortsNipple · 31/10/2012 22:16

I went looking in charity shops for bits and pieces for DDs vintage tea party.

A good tip is look in charity shops in posh towns because they are more likely to have decent stuff rather than tat. It's likely to be Pretty much the same price too. :)

Does anyone know the best way to preserve mistletoe?

The wind has blown a ton of twigs, leaves, and branches down at my house, but happily, also the clump of mistletoe I've been eyeing for years.

How can I keep the greenery nice until Christmas?

Happybunny12 · 04/11/2012 17:07

Hello poncers, some great ideas and links here. Thank you! I've been lurking a while and have gathered some fab ideas- particularly excited about the Buche de Noel (looks AMAZING) and the Green and Blacks choc mousse cake.

With a rather demanding little one who will be 4 months old at Christmas, I've decided to dip my toe into the pool of poncing this year. So sloe gin and blackberry brandy have been on the go for a month or so now. Question please experienced fruit alcohol makers: can I 'dilute' with more alcohol when I strain them if they are too sweet? Or, if I took a bit of liquid out (eg 250ml from my 1litre of sloe gin) but left the fruit in, can I then top up with more gin and leave for longer?

Thank you!

NPUsesSparklersLikeARebel · 05/11/2012 07:08

Hi all, do you mind if I join in? Though I fear I've left it too late :(

I can't remember if I posted last year, but I definitely lurked. I did loads last year. For each of the 10 hampers I did, off the top of my head:

Nigellas chilli jam
A couple of different fruit jams
Peppermint bark
4 different types of biscuits/cookies
4 different flavours of truffles
Salt dough decorations
Oreo fudge
Mint chocolate fudge
Plain fudge
Christmas cake
Christmas cake pops
Mince pies

I can't remember what else but I think I went overboard with the hampers!

I also dried slices of oranges that went in jars on the mantlepiece, made some hanging hearts and Loads of these baubles

This year, I'm late starting as I'm in the process of decorating the house so it's perfect when I host a Christmas party Hmm I have already made 2 Christmas cakes though and have just ordered the Sarah Raven book.

If anyone wants a chocolate vodka recipe (mars bars) I used the one off an episode of Super scrimpers on channel 4 and wrote about it on my blog here

I've decided not to do so much this year. I've got the bottles to make some more chocolate vodka, the jars to do chilli and fruit jam and then I think I'll make truffles, biscuits and something else but definitely not as much as last year.

I've only read to page 10, so I'm heading back! :)

NPUsesSparklersLikeARebel · 05/11/2012 07:37

Ooh I've just remembered I made felt decorations too. I'll probably remember things all day now Grin

Back to page 23...

NPUsesSparklersLikeARebel · 05/11/2012 07:55

Okay, I'm all caught up now :)

FredWorms I'm loving that stag wrapping paper. I think I'll see if my local Wilko has it in sometime this week.

Right, I'm off to do more decorating so I can get on with the poncyness.

BiddyPop · 05/11/2012 09:05

I started the sloe gin last night!! I haven't had a chance for much poncing otherwise (my relaxing week off to de-stress and unwind turned into a mad one running around after everyone else!!). So maybe I can get back to it this week...

Badvoc · 05/11/2012 14:15

Oh! I found you again!
Hurrah!
I have some paper for boys to make Xmas decs but need some Xmas type fabric to make an Xmas table cloth and napkins with my NEW sewing machine!!
