....will be officially open for business on September 24th. I am just firing up the engines and dusting down the control room ready for action in case I forget to do it on the 24th

Do not post yet. Do not. Sit on your hands, ladies.

On your marks........................

Oh on the topic of table cloths, my table is chuffing huge, I found today a giant plum throw that is quite thin so I think it would make a naice table cloth if I add some gold sparkle and get some contrasting placemats, what do we think ladies?

VikingVagine · 02/10/2012 19:07

Sounds pretty so long as you coordinate your colours properly!

Titsalinabumsquash · 02/10/2012 19:11

I was thinking of having gold placemats and then matching decs in that room ... We have lights at the window but they'll just be gentle twinkly white ones, or maybe another colour that isn't gold? Silver? Green?

VikingVagine · 02/10/2012 19:19

No no no, no coloured lights! White silver or at a push yellow gold, but no green or blue. I suppose red might be acceptable if all your decor has red in it.

You could stencil patterns (stars or snowflakes) in gold paint around the very edge of the cloth.

Titsalinabumsquash · 02/10/2012 19:21

Oh yes I'm with you on lights! I meant place mats and decor in possibly another colour. Grin

I get my festive loo roll from Wilkinsons.

I hide it so DH doesn't start using it before the official start date Blush.

Starshaped · 02/10/2012 19:22

I see your festive loo roll and raise you festive toilet cleaner! Last year they had a rather tasteful festive scented one in the Sainsburys. I am clearly very sad!

Starshaped · 02/10/2012 19:23

Crikey - I didn't mean to turn Sainsburys into a weblink. I promise it did it all buy itself!! I'm a bit spooked out by that!

TeaOneSugar · 02/10/2012 19:24

I can't wait for the christmas magazines to come out.

There's a "get ahead for christmas" feature in the new good housekeeping out tomorrow.

TeaOneSugar · 02/10/2012 19:26

I did festive disinfectant (cinnamon) last year, so the kitchen floor smelt festive.

Titsalinabumsquash · 02/10/2012 19:27

Festive disinfectant you say ..... I could get into that. Just out of interest, how would one do this? Buy it or add cinnamon sent to regular? Smile

TeaOneSugar · 02/10/2012 19:32

I bought it, Zoflora did a limited edition one.

Taffeta · 02/10/2012 19:34

givemeaclue - do you mean floral or food?

Floral - I'd try some bulbs, they are easy peasy. Food - the cranberry and orange compote is dead easy.

I like the sound of cinnamon loo cleaner! Although my DC are cinnamon mad so may worry they would try to drink it, despite knowing better.....

Martha Stewart - a bit 90's?

Jacaqueen · 02/10/2012 19:35

I think all the Christmas mags are out tomorrow.

Overreactionoftheweek · 02/10/2012 19:57

Purple and gold sound good and Christmassy to me Tits.

I haven't succumbed to the CK organiser but I do have a notebook that I'm filling up with lists of essentials! My mum bought me the Delia Christmas cookbook ages ago but this is the first year DH and I are hosting Christmas so it will finally get some use - so excited!

My MIL however, goes completely silent every time I mention it's at our house this year Grin she can't hog it any longer!

Overreactionoftheweek · 02/10/2012 19:59

Christmas mags - which are the best? I need them all!

VoldemortsNipple · 02/10/2012 20:00

I've been scouring the magazine shelves for anything remotely Christmassy. Apart from cards that is. It's bad enough writing the bloody things never mind making them.

I've had an email from amazon to say my CK make you own deccies book has been dispatched. I'm looking forward to this weekend :)

hanbee · 02/10/2012 20:37

Hello

New here but am a closet Christmas poncerist (?).

Voldermoet I have a tried and tested green tomato chutney recipe, River Cottage Chutney from The River Cottage Cookbook. Used it several times and have dnated jars to my Mum for parties and been amazed when her friends have manyged to eat an entire jar! Let me know if you're still after a recipe.

My other favourite is pickled mushrooms from Jamie at home. Sounds a bit grim but is incredibly moreish with a cheese, bread, meats selection. It can be ready to eat in two weeks from making so its a good one if you leave it too late.

Will stop lurking and silently stealing your ideas now, promise.

hanbee · 02/10/2012 20:40

Sorry Voldermort my phone numbers"corrected" your name. Voldermoet sounds q poncy though!

VoldemortsNipple · 02/10/2012 21:14

Oh yes Voldemoet could be my Christmas breakfast name :o

I'd love your chutney recipe hanbee I won't be making my chutney until the weekend. I need to buy some more jars first :)

oreocrumbs · 02/10/2012 22:01

Christmas loo roll you say?

So this ham in cola malarky - is it nice? I make a ham on boxing day, and always do the hairy bikers honey and mustard which is very good I have to say.... But am I missing out? DM does the dinner on Christmas day, so my very important job is the boxing day ham, don't want to get it wrong.

Have been busy tidying today to make way for more poncing! Where can I get some vases for forcing bulbs? My SR arrived and I am inspired! I want my windowsills to be awash with blooms.

Oh and next year I'm doing Christmas at my house! I can't wait Grin.

UniS · 02/10/2012 22:02

Tits- Plum n gold sounds lovely, very poncey and yet tasteful.

Zeeky · 02/10/2012 22:57

oreo I think the ham in coke is ace & always use that recipe now Wink

Titsalinabumsquash · 02/10/2012 22:58

Ham in coke is lovely, I do it several times a year :)

oreocrumbs · 03/10/2012 08:20

Excellent, well I shall dig out a recipe and give that a whirl this year Smile
