Xmas Grin
OP posts:
farrowandbawl · 23/11/2013 18:44

OMG, of course you can pay me in mince pies and Baileys. Grin

I may be wrapping but I still have a few more to buy yet. You've only got one left to buy so don't worry Chesty - it's still November.

Update on mate and decorations. She's enjoying it but has since found out that her DH has hidden the tree. She's threatening to strangle him with tinsel. I suggested she steals the tree from the city centre instead and put that in the living room as revenge for the tree napping. It's cheaper than a divorce.

giraffeseatpineapples · 23/11/2013 20:45

Hello all lets pretend this is a gingerbread latte [tea] . felt a bit christmasy today, took dc to park then made hot choclate and watched home alone (3 yo was a bit scared so hid against me most of the time aww, 6 and 8 yo loved it)

mama those reindeer sacks are brill .

No wrapping here yet chesty, decos need to be up first! Debating whether to start christmas cards this week, I usually do them when the tree is up and it feels christmasy.

Planning to get gold sparkly paper for our presents too seven, have seen some in clintons. I am thinking glittery paper for presents from santa is not a good idea as I might leave glitter round the house when I wrap them, also I usually sprinkle glitter around the stockings on christmas eve.

Need to buy the santa paper before little dd finishes playschool; I am very fussy about hiding the santa paper as that is how I realised the truth when I was a child Grin. Last year I got printed labels so the children wouldn't figure out it was my handwriting santa labels. Better get on and order some labels actually. I might try embroidering some for adults like this as my sewing machine can sew letters tags

How's the new dishwasher farrow? Mine has a tester so you can figure out what level of salt you need. I'm in london so I set the salt level to 4 if using plain dishwasher powder but back down to 1 if using 3 in 1 or 5 in 1 tablets with salt added (I think most of them have). Cleaning the filter a couple of times a week with a scrubbing brush would be my top tip Blush bit sad how obsessed I am with my new dishwasher.

giraffeseatpineapples · 23/11/2013 20:45

oops Brew

giraffeseatpineapples · 23/11/2013 20:53

Grin farrow just seen your earlier post about friend putting up her tree. before you, now I understand.

I will prob be first on our street if I put them up next sun. It felt a bit early putting them up on the 1st last year but I made a wreath on christmas eve out of bits from my dads garden (I don't feel chritmasy enough unless my hands have been attacked by holly ) This year I might also buy a tiny real tree for our dining room on christmas eves eve.

farrowandbawl · 23/11/2013 21:03

It's brilliant thank you. It's one of the best things I have ever bought myself. I have so much more time to myself now to do other things.

Giraffe - a small real tree, that's a brilliant idea!

ChestyNut · 24/11/2013 17:09

Oh man Sad

I forgot about christmas cards!
Christmas cards and wrapping to do

Today I've had a gingerbread latte and a christmas hot chocolate. Feel bit sick now Grin

farrowandbawl · 24/11/2013 17:54

Chesty - there's loads of time yet, don't worry.

MamaPizza · 24/11/2013 18:27

Hello again, busy weekend, lots of school work but it will get better from next week on (they are doing assessments, easy planning for me).

Was a bit miffed when going to the shops. Couldn't find any plain red or gold foil paper. It's all bright colours, trashy weird prints and so on. Where can I get simple and classy paper please?

Jingle will be here next Sunday, soooooo excited! And our tree will go up, it's going to be a good weekend. Just need to get through this week.

You know, I thought I had finished shopping, but I keep on buying. Someone stop me!!! DS is going to be so spoilt, it's ridiculous. I keep finding little bits and bobs that would make him happy, such as a Scooby Doo card game similar to Uno which I can't wait to play with him or a Scooby Doo fleece blanket, perfect for his new bedroom. It's all lovely stuff, but it's a ridiculous amount. He'd better behave the next weeks and be thankful.

Live challenge on I'm a celebrity tonight Grin

TheOnlySeven · 24/11/2013 18:45

mama I bought this, they also have gold and silver, it's quite thick and nice to wrap with. Not sure if they have it in store though as I ordered mine online. I thought I only had one left to buy but I've thought of 2 more I want to buy.

chesty I agree there's plenty of time. I just like to get organised early because if it gets to December I have an awful habit of putting it off because there's good Christmas films on TV then I regret it when I'm up until the silly hours all of the week leading up to Christmas doing it.

One month until Christmas Eve!

farrowandbawl · 24/11/2013 18:50

I've seen a few card shops that have plain paper in Mama. Have you tried there?

MamaPizza · 24/11/2013 20:05

That's exactly the kind of paper I want, Seven. I'll have to brave town next weekend and check card shops, if not I'll order it online. I've only been to B&M and other similar home bargain shops and I could only find tat.

Super tired, but must stay awake for I'm a celebrity

farrowandbawl · 24/11/2013 20:23

I'm so tired I even though it was my bedtime - it's only half eight fgs.

I'm not going to make it for 9pm, at the moment.

giraffeseatpineapples · 25/11/2013 15:30

Took the children to winter wonderland yesterday. It ended in tears surprise surprise (think I was the main one stamping my feet tbh) but we got a bus to regent street and looked around hamelys which was nice but crazy busy.

farrowandbawl · 25/11/2013 17:35

Hello!

Update. Friend finished decorating her house on Sunday. I knew she would Grin. Next year I'm going to try to get her to decorate a bit earlier. As for the tree saga, after hassling her husband, kids style, (get it, get it, get it, get it etc) he got the tree out of it's hiding place, turning the air blue in the meantime. She's now happy but is contemplating on putting the lights up now on the outside of her house...it's not going to take a lot to twist her arm [evil grin].

Haven't done a lot since I last posted. In fact, I've done nothing at all. The tree is getting delivered tomorrow though! So it will be decorated after it's been in water for a day or so.

How is everyone? Has anyone done anything interesting?

Giraffe, although the day ended in tears, it does sound like a good day out. Di you enjoy it?

I've got a Hemleys bear which was given to me when I was born and we went every year as children so that shop has a lot of memories for me.

ChestyNut · 25/11/2013 18:15

Nothing interesting here farrow.....work.

This time next week ill be on annual leave Grin

Only got to wait until Friday to see if I got yankee advent calender!

TheOnlySeven · 25/11/2013 18:30

Nothing interesting here, DD1 has a bad cold.

farrow you must be really excited about the tree coming! We're getting ours next week.

TheOnlySeven · 25/11/2013 18:31

I'd just like to point out that today is 25th November ...

ChestyNut · 25/11/2013 20:48

Watching naughty or nice on sky Grin

giraffeseatpineapples · 25/11/2013 22:09

Chesty why will you find out about candles on fri - is it an ebay purchase?

Farrow - it was a nice day out really, hamleys was a bit of a mistake in as much as now dd and ds have added gifts to their lists and we have already bought all their presents Confused Ds loved hamleys though and probably could have spent the entire day there just looking round Smile

ChestyNut · 26/11/2013 18:16

We do a secret birthday fairy at work and Friday is my last day at work as birthday is next week while I'm on leave Grin

farrowandbawl · 26/11/2013 18:27

Fingers crossed for you Chesty.

My tree is here. It smells divine and it's not even unwrapped yet. It's stood in a bucket of water now for a long cold drink for a couple of days.

My box of chocolates from hotel chocolat arrived today, I forgot I ordered them. DD's advent calander and the mini crakers are in there and a small box of choccies for me to eat once the wrapping and shopping are done. There's a couple of little bits for the kids in there too.

Today, I've got so much done. Completed homework, one assignment (not due for 3 weeks), two tests (aced both) and I'm now 4 weeks ahead. Washing and ironing baskets are both empty, all housework done adn washed and dried ALL the bedding on all the beds.

I think I can have a hot bath tonight and not worry about a thing for once! Might even break open the Malibu.

How has everyone been today?

giraffeseatpineapples · 26/11/2013 18:35

Ooh yes hope you get it chesty

Farrow thats an amazing days work - you deserve a Wine what's the secret to all that concentration?

farrowandbawl · 26/11/2013 18:44

I have no idea what the secret is, Sorry. Just one of those days where everything clicked and fell into place.

I just wish I could remind myself to READ my posts before pressing send to elimiate stupid spelling errors.

Giraffe, how has your day been? Recovered from the weekend yet?

ChestyNut · 26/11/2013 21:00

Very productive day farrow Wine

giraffeseatpineapples · 26/11/2013 22:53

Frarrow - yes recovered thanks but dinnertime today was a mare as I was trying to get them to eat wholesome food which never goes down well. Didn't notice your spellings btw, but noticing now this post begins by calling you Frarrow Hmm I think if you had been that organised and proof-read your posts that would be just taking things a bit too far Grin

Beginning to get there with adult christmas presents, keeping an eye on black friday deals on amazon, just missed a tangle teaser, which is something we actually need Shock. A bit gutted as we bought a window birdfeeder for my dad on sunday and they had one for half price on black friday event.

Must remember to get the stamps for posting to ireland before post office gets too busy.
