Xmas Grin
OP posts:
ChestyCoffinFucker · 24/10/2013 17:35

Back week before christmas.
Sort of got used to her being here again

We're you looking for a tablet for DD? Laptop instead?

Wine for friend? Willow tree do lovely ornaments things and are quite plain?

girraffe adults are such a pain to buy for.

fuckerandbawl · 24/10/2013 18:09

That's not long Chesty, she'll be back before you know it and we'll keep you busy until then.

The tablets are for christmas - ex is buying them, well, sending the money for them.

Laptop is for her birthday. She needs one for school and I'm sick of her adjusting settings on mine. It's the only thing she's asked for.

Wine isn't good, she's cutting down as she was getting worried about how much she was drinking. Ornaments aren't her thing really. I'll keep thinking.

giraffeseatpineapples · 24/10/2013 18:10

Could you bring fish & chips and mini bottles of cava/ wine and straws - think someone did that for us (while ago now so cant quite remember!) - no need for plates and forks etc?

So much more fun buying for kids Grin no complaints or you shouldnt haves or do you still have the receipt comments....

giraffeseatpineapples · 24/10/2013 18:11

scrap cava!

ChestyCoffinFucker · 24/10/2013 18:11

Or the forced "it's lovely"

fuckerandbawl · 24/10/2013 18:18

lol, yep the forced thank you's followed by the awkward thank you phone call. Urgh, it almost puts a spoiler on it all because of the stress and fakery...

I'll keep those sugesstions in mind Chesty, thanks.

ChestyCoffinFucker · 24/10/2013 18:27

I've got DM the mother and daughter willow tree, is lovely Smile

Tonight I am going to catch up on sky+ and not sit MN all night.

SevenOnwardsAndUpwards · 25/10/2013 13:20

Can I join you ladies please? I'm really looking forward to Christmas this year and need it to be wonderful after the rubbish year we've had. I've done most of the Christmas present buying already, just a few bits left but I know what to buy.

I also starting to prepare by making things, so far I've done pickled onions, pickled eggs for DH and blackberry gin and vodka, still the cake and pudding to do, plus piccalilli and truffles if I get time.

fuckerandbawl · 25/10/2013 13:28

Of course Seven - welcome. You are possibly the most organised of us all.

Sorry to hear you've had a crap year - what happened if you don't mind me asking?

I understand when you want a nice Christmas after a crap year, that's how I've got into the whole Christmas thing in the first place.

Everything that you have made sounds delicious. Even the eggs and I've not had those for years.

Are you having a theme this year? What colours are you looking at?

ChestyCoffin · 25/10/2013 14:09

Yum...pickled eggs Grin

Afternoon all.

You sound very organised seven

I'm getting there, maybe 75% done

Need some stuff offline and its paaaayday Grin

fuckerandbawl · 25/10/2013 14:13

I'm no where near done. I'm ususally done by now but I just can't seem to get it together this year.

I might have to wait until after half term and have a look through what I have got - it may be more than I think.

SevenOnwardsAndUpwards · 25/10/2013 14:40

I namechanged but this thread explains everything without me having to type it all out.

We don't have a theme, we have a tradition that every year the DCs each choose one nice overpriced decoration for the tree so we're slowly building up a collection of lovely special mismatched decorations. We're probably going over the top on other decorations and tinsel this year though, and getting a cheap artificial tree for the dining room as well as a real one in the front room.

fuckerandbawl · 25/10/2013 15:10

HALF PRICE TABLETS ALERT!

£49

fuckerandbawl · 25/10/2013 15:44

AIBU to want to get my Christmas decorations down from the loft now?

I might just have to get the Christmas oil on...I think I need a Crimbo hit.

LentilAsAnyFUCKERthing · 25/10/2013 17:11

Patience, bawl!

Seven, no words! That is just awful. Sorry you are going through that. Will you be avoiding mil over Xmas?

ChestyCoffin · 25/10/2013 17:12

Half price?!

Good shopping!

YANBU! Do it!

I slipped a lovely fig and blackberry glade candle in my trolley, £2. How could I not?

Smells lovely.

LentilAsAnyFUCKERthing · 25/10/2013 17:13

P.S. Two months to go!

farrowandbawl · 25/10/2013 17:14

Months sounds like ages.

9 weeks!

ChestyCoffin · 25/10/2013 17:27

Seven Thanks

MrsVamos · 25/10/2013 21:18

Firstly, evening all, you lovely lot.

Secondly, WTAF has been going on here ? Blardy hell, I have a life for a few days and it all kicks off. And boils down to the usual what we can and can't say. FFS. I still don't really understand why we can't call a spade a spade, so to speak, iykwim ? Hmm

Haven't decided on a tree colour yet, life is too busy ! DS has brace fitted, top one, and given the huge choice of coloured wires, went for...............standard silver ! He has already decided he will go for a colour next time, next appt is end of Nov, so I am already trying to convince him to go with festive green or red ! I'm hoping his love of Liverpool FC will also encourage him to go red and festive !

I saw the half price tablets thing today, Carphone Warehouse, isn't it....will have a look at the Toshiba one, farrow....have you made a decision yet ?

Anyway, hope you are all OK, and not suffering too badly with snuffles and sniffles and coughs ?

"stormy weather".....Grin

SevenOnwardsAndUpwards · 25/10/2013 22:06

Thanks chesty :)

DH wasn't happy to cut her out completely, but accepts that me being just about civil to her is the best he'll get. I expect she'll pop round to see the DCs on Christmas morning, though I'll do my best to be busy basting the goose or something hiding in the kitchen drinking champagne. We're having my parents round for lunch so I've at least got an excuse that she needs to be gone by the time they get here as my mum hasn't seen MIL since paedophile-gate and it's highly likely that she'll speak her mind on the situation.

Anyway, fuck 'em, 9 weeks until Christmas!

LentilAsAnyFUCKERthing · 26/10/2013 00:25

Well, maybe it will be a good thing if your mother gives her a piece of her mind, seven.

farrowandbawl · 26/10/2013 11:16

Seven, I hope Christmas doesn't turn out to be too tense for you. I'd be hiding in the kitchen too.

Not made my mind up yet Mrs, but I did get 2 of those tablets from carphone warehouse - even if I can stretch to buying the toshiba ones for the kids at least I have a tablet and a spare just in case at the worst case. The cheap ones they can use while we are out and about so they don't risk ruining the more expensive ones which will be kept at home..(sound as though I've got money to burn here, I haven't honest).

I'm just struggling with getting DD her baking stuff - it doesn't seem right, but that's what she wants. It's a weird one.

ChestyCoffin · 26/10/2013 14:38

Hi all

Well I bought ChestyDog his christmas present today.....a giant tough triceratops Grin

Ridiculously expensive but am hoping it lasts longer than the 3 mins we get out of most dog toys.

farrowandbawl · 26/10/2013 15:15

Grin I loved buying my dog Christmas presents. Watching him rip it open with his claws.

It got into a family things where all the pets would send cards and presents - only cheap things but it was fun.
