Roses or Quality Street?

Whats your preference ladies. When i was a kid it was always a big jar of Roses my mum used to buy. My naughty bro and myself worked out a way of gently twisting and easing the lid off without breaking the seal so we could nick the odd purple one out of it before christmas.
Anyhow what do you prefer,Roses or Quality Street? Im trying to decide which to get this year. My preference is usually Roses but in later years ive had Celebrations and Heroes at xmas.
DH used to prefer Quality Street but then they removed the Peanut Cracknel and ever since he wont eat them on principle.
I didnt try the Lindor choccie truffeles until Easter this year and they are lush but they are TOO nice so i would end up eating too many. So if you absolutely HAD to choose would it be Roses or Quality Street for you.

Roses ,too many toffees in quality street

SingingSands · 20/11/2011 17:23

Roses.

Much better than any of the others.

Trills · 20/11/2011 17:24

Quality Street because the orange and strawberry creams are white and tasty, not gaudily-coloured and horrible.

Trills · 20/11/2011 17:24

Celebrations and Minature Heroes can fuck off.

popbiscuit · 20/11/2011 17:24

Quality Street. Hands down. Also miffed about the Peanut Cracknel.

My brother and I used to break into the QS tin and steal all the toffee fingers. Grin.

ChippingInNeedsSleep · 20/11/2011 17:26

Quality Street - even though they aren't as good as they used to be, it's just not Christmas without a tin of QS!!

carernotasaint · 20/11/2011 17:29

Glad me and bro werent the only ones who used to do that popbiscuit. smiles

Quality Street. It is not Christmas if I haven't eaten my weight in QS by the end of the festive period imvho.

peeriebear · 20/11/2011 17:31

Quality Street. There seem to be fewer I like in Roses every year!

ENormaSnob · 20/11/2011 17:37

Roses.

Quality street taste of shiteness.

bemybebe · 20/11/2011 17:43

QS if I had to choose between the two.
If I was not restricted by brands (and by funds more importantly) I would go for these. I have never ever ever tasted chocolate heaven before or since, ummmmmm!!!!!!!

LordOfTheFlies · 20/11/2011 17:49

roses

PestoCaffeinisto · 20/11/2011 17:51

neither

LordOfTheFlies · 20/11/2011 17:51

can i add matchmakers into the mix.
orange rather than mint but they used to do coffee which were the nicest imo

CornishKK · 20/11/2011 17:54

Quality Street purely because the wrappers look more festive when artfully piled into glass dishes.

Sparklingbrook · 20/11/2011 17:55

Elizabeth Shaw chocolatey minty thingies. Yum.

BornToFolk · 20/11/2011 17:57

Roses, because I prefer Cadbury's chocolate. Although I do like the toffees in Quality Street. And I love the coffee cremes in both.

breatheslowly · 20/11/2011 17:59

Quality Street - I don't like Cadbury's chocolate. Apparently this makes me odd.

carernotasaint · 20/11/2011 18:03

Oh i remember Elizabeth Shaw. They come in a round box. On xmas morning when i was eleven i ate a whole box of them that my aunt bought me and felt a bit sick for a good couple of hours after. Still managed my chrissy dinner and Roses chocs that afternoon though.
And bro and i always had a Terrys Choc orange each as well.

Both, it's Xmas, they always have them on offer for a fiver a tin somewhere so buy one of each :)

DarciesmumandBump2 · 20/11/2011 18:05

QS here but generally we have a tin of each Grin

Bunbaker · 20/11/2011 18:06

I'm odd as well breatheslowly. I don't care for Cadburys. I prefer Galaxy.

carernotasaint · 20/11/2011 18:09

Born to foilk im sure that Roses removed their coffee cremes a few years back. Dh was miffed about that as well.

They have put bloody Eclairs in Celebrations. That's not chocolate. Angry

nenevomito · 20/11/2011 18:12

Quality Street

It used to be Roses, but they have gone seriously downhill and now you can't tell what you're eating.
