I've started. Last night I wrapped ten presents and two birthday presents. I have a few small presents to wrap and a lot more to buy but I'll get there and I aim to be there by the end of this month/the very beginning of next month.

TheFrogs · 15/11/2011 03:07

Almost finished, it's been a struggle this year so I started at the end of August selling on ebay and snapping up bargains. I've only my closest friend (she can choose her own) and a couple of things to get for my mum.

I dont wrap normally until christmas eve.

I'm bored!! I'm almost missing the running about like a fool! Grin

OhYouBadBadkitten · 15/11/2011 06:59

Thank you Psychicsatsuma. What a good plan :) I have a quietish evening tonight so I shall take your advice and then come back for more

ThePsychicSatsuma · 15/11/2011 09:16

on amazon marble run toys start at a fiver for a 15 piece set...up to 50 quid for a wooden one oooooh I love marble runs
Smile

like the idea of tractor dot-to-dot
theres some nice vehicle sticker playbooks too

Peetle · 15/11/2011 09:32

We've just been through our "regifting" pile - duplicate toys and books, smellies noone will use, etc. We have quite a good haul for those who lurk on the periphery of our present list but will no doubt give us something for next years pile. The trick is remembering who gave us what...

ThePsychicSatsuma · 15/11/2011 09:40

I have a re-gift drawer!

Ifancyashandy · 15/11/2011 09:41

Done some - saw some bargainious body butters and bubble baths in John Lewis so got those for a few friends. And then saw a reduced bottle of Hendricks in Sains for a mates husband (I'd been extolling the virtues) so picked that up.

Dammed if I know what I'm getting anyone else. Fortunately no DP or DC's to buy for but a gazillion friends and their kids.

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 15/11/2011 10:07

nope, been waiting for DH pay rise so we can by everyone stuff - all family have just requested amazon vouchers though so an evening on the internet should do us fine. Shame, cos I love fidning cool presents for people but expecting DC2 any day now and really don't have the headspace or mental capacity

wordfactory · 15/11/2011 10:11

I haven't begun any preparations yet - been finishing off two work projects and a major home improvement project.

I fully intend to start next week though.

RoyalWelsh · 15/11/2011 13:14

I think I have bought everything I plan on buying thanks to a very quiet weekend at work and the ability to remember my card number.

Now all I have to do is wait until I have a few days off to make all the home made things I intend on farming out as gifts this year, and even then I have the things I need to do that, for example, the blackberries are in the freezer and the jam jars have been collected and washed. I even bought the fabric I need to make four bags and a cushion in September.

Can you tell I am feeling unbearably a tiny bit smug???

Taffeta · 15/11/2011 13:27

Yes but have you written the cards yet, slight?

I hate writing the cards.

RoyalWelsh · 15/11/2011 13:38

Bugger. No, no cards yet. Perhaps I shall start. Oooh - what I need first is a list

Hmmmm. And I don't even have wrapping paper

RoyalWelsh · 15/11/2011 13:39

Even better than a list, maybe I need a Christmas folder

drools

ThePsychicSatsuma · 15/11/2011 14:12

I am minimising cards this year big time, there's a thread on here to encourage people to stop sending, it's quite inspirational. Got the asda 3 packs for fiver thing, I am limiting myself to 15, including work (yikes)
and not sending to anyone I haven't spoken to in the last year.
am going to FB that any more card £ going to NSPCC or Soldier charity and will donate online.
dd and ds needed the other packs for their school/nursery classes, but hopefully everyone will send less this yr

chobbler · 15/11/2011 14:33

majority of mine is posted overseas. So I am done, wrapped and parceled up for destination, majority of cards written. All needs posting by 22nd of this month. The only bit I leave to December is being Santa's elf. It doesn't feel like Christmas when you have done everything by October/Nov. You have to leave something for a bit of excitement.

Quenelle · 15/11/2011 15:17

I'm about halfway. It is so much easier this year because my family has all agreed to buy token gifts costing no more than about a fiver for each other - socks/chocolates/bottles of wine more than welcome. So it's been easy - and cheap Smile

The hardest ones are the children, I'll spend a bit more on godchildren etc but it's hard to decide what to buy. I'm very conscious that I'm adding to the pile of stuff that children amass.

nomiddlename · 15/11/2011 16:03

I'm done too.

Family stuff from one online shop a few weeks back and all the kids stuff this weekend from another website.

Wrapped all the family gifts already but only because this christmas we are spending it alone, just dh, me and the kids so will be handing out xmas pressies early when we see family etc.

Taffeta · 15/11/2011 17:47

Quenelle - can thoroughly recommend this for boys or girls 4-9, we had the main one in the summer and was a big hit.

I'm also bulk buying this for the slightly older ones

Lucy88 · 15/11/2011 20:55

I'm all done too, including the wrapping.

I hate December for shopping - way too busy, big queues and full of stressed people, who are rude. I like to start in September, take my time and have it all done by the middle/end of November.

I am always busy in December with my Birthday, sisters birthday, works parties, kids parties etc, so would prefer a nice stress free run-in to Christmas.

hayleysd · 15/11/2011 21:00

Mines all done and mostly wrapped just a couple to come in the post, shopping for ds2's birthday on 27th done too.

garlicbutter · 16/11/2011 00:15

Nah, not doing Christmas this year

I WAS going to give everyone a nice small present from Very.co.uk - their 3-for-2 gifts are excellent this year - but then discovered new customers can't have buy now. I can pay later but can't buy now So it's back to plan A - no presents.

I did buy some cards today, though. I was in Aldi and went all smiley at the Christmas stuff, so played along to the tune of 99p. I'm having their 4-bird roast for Christmas dinner; it's lush.

So this means Christmas will be costing me approx £10 this year! Bring me my nightcap and guttering candle!

garlicbutter · 16/11/2011 00:17

new customers can't have buy now pay later

nametapes · 16/11/2011 08:04

I am moving house Dec 13th so I think for all its cash, gift vouchers etc... dont want to hoard xmas pressies here then have to move them all...they will get crushed in the move.!!!

Quenelle · 16/11/2011 09:09

Thanks Taffeta. What a lovely range. I love the Christmas Patterns Colouring Book. I can think of a couple of children on my list that these would suit.

I'm happy to order from The Book People but always shop around before buying from Amazon. I bought a Chad Valley trainset from Argos yesterday for £9.99. There's a seller on Amazon selling it for £24.98, plus £4 delivery. One of them has made a mistake, I'm fairly sure it wouldn't be Argos. I'm thinking of posting a review saying it's cheaper at Argos. Would that be bad form? I don't want to spoil anyone's living, but I also don't want people to be ripped off.

marge2 · 16/11/2011 10:51

I have THOUGHT about starting! I have a few ideas. Can't afford to start yet though. Not sure why I think I'll be able to afford it next month. May as well put some more on the never never right now. At least I won't get the last minute shopping stress the week before Chrsitmas.
