Just an update for anyone wanting to no about uc etc, we got awarded DLA on 31st Jan, updated UC 1st Feb, got the payment issued to me yesterday so should arrive Monday. So all in all, 6th October from requesting forms to 29th February for everything to be sorted DLA & uc. Xx

namechangedasashamd · 01/03/2024 18:54

We just had a renewal done in 2.5 weeks - I was shocked as last year my claim for my other dd took 5.5 months !

Mummybabies2 · 01/03/2024 19:15

@Gracie1909 congrats! Today makes it 3 weeks I updated uc,still no reply or backpay x

Charmazing · 01/03/2024 19:17

my5to1 · 01/03/2024 14:49

@Charmazing thankyou!! I’m over the moon!

oh no way! I hope they sort it for you soon, I’ve heard awful things about universal credit, I’m still on the old style, dreading the move over, I know I need to tell tax credits but I’m dreading it I case it triggers the move xx

yes they’re awful, after DLA wait I didnt have the strength or energy to chase up but will do next week.
I’m keeping my fingers crossed it’s all straight forward for you with tax credits :)

Gracie1909 · 01/03/2024 20:18

@Mummybabies2 Hiya xx ring them and demand they contact your case manager via message and sort it out. That's what worked for me. It's taken ages and they said because I work, I'm not deemed as looking for work etc so my messages on my journal don't flag the same as someone who is being chased to work etc, so hence the time being so long. So if you ask the person on the phone to chase it for you via a message to them, it will be picked up that same day hopefully xx

Be conscious that it does depend on area as to the process for referral. My DD was referred by the school in June, we had an initial paediatrician appointment in August. We (and the school) then had to fill out forms, which together with the paediatrician report went to a panel in October.

They then officially added her to the waiting list and we got confirmation of this in November. So five months from referral to waiting list! (Though the paediatrician did a report following the appointment, which I included in my application).

I’m not 100% sure how it works in my area, I’ve been to school today and filled out a form with the senco teacher, can’t remember the name on that form, and she just said right I’ll get that sent off.
i asked another mum from school as I know she’d had an autism referral done, she went to school to do the form, same form as I did and she said she just had a confirmation letter through the post to say her son was on a waiting list so not sure what that means to be honest. I’m just happy that the referral has been started to be honest. He should have been referred last year so the Senco was very apologetic that he’d technically been missed due to other diagnosis' he’d received. Everything takes ages these days unfortunately 😩

Hi I don’t trigger a move I had that worry too last year with my youngest as I’m on tax credits too

Sunflower1808 · 02/03/2024 08:51

@my5to1 im on tax credits still i called them on the Thursday to tell them ive been awared and my award date he backdated it to the beginning if my claim and it updated the saturday payment the backpaymrnt fot the Thursday. I also asked about the when i had to move to uc (so it doesnt trigger the move ) he said looked like mine migration letter isnt on ther yet so not to worry untill i get that he said they hope to get everyone over by march 2025 so may not be anytime soon , also he said ti wait for that letter as if it works you get less on uc than tax credits if you do it via the migration letter they cant pay you lower than what you get on tax credits x

Wish I had seen this three years ago. With my first application for DLA child which was declined. I didn’t appeal which I now understand after reading through all your posts.
So second attempt!
called for forms 18/10/23
sent forms 7/11/23
Scan date 5/12/23
Two letters and then a txt on 26/2
my boy was diagnosed in 2019 we are only just getting to third and final for his EHCP. We are currently fighting for a place at a special school for September. Why is everything a fight just to get what your child needs?
Looking forward to seeing you all get awards, and praying we get somewhere this time.
oh and looking forward to a phone call! 🤞

Anxiouslywaitingmum · 02/03/2024 11:01

Got my second letter today, still stating it's taking 15 weeks. I'm 8 weeks Monday since scan date x

MLW92 · 02/03/2024 12:23

@Anxiouslywaitingmum i don't know why they just don't update the time scale on the letter, they're still saying 15 weeks then people are calling up when they're over 18 weeks and still waiting and they're getting snotty people with 10 different answers when asked how long it'll be for a decision, I've gave up calling because as you can see from this thread, people with later scan dates are awarded before people who has been waiting longer, it's just pot luck, so here's hoping everyone gets the awards they're hoping for🤞

STEPH691 · 02/03/2024 12:34

@bonz2023 just seen on the Facebook DLA group someone with same scan date as yours been sent a text today hopefully ours is with a DM xx

Unfortunately it's taking much longer than 15 weeks, don't understand why they say 15 in the letters. Good luck 👍

I really hope so although I'm scared of the answer 😂😂

Mazzie1 · 02/03/2024 12:57

@MLW92 completely agree with you
if they just updated it to say it’s around a 20 week wait people wouldn’t be calling around 15/16/17 weeks to check in on their claim
It also says on the letter when you first claim that they will send you a text or letter to confirm they have received your forms and if you don’t hear anything in 2 weeks to call them, well it took me 5 weeks to receive my letter to confirm they had my forms and I’ve seen posts from people where the staff have been rude to them for calling after 2 weeks to see if they’ve received the forms (even though that’s what it tells them to do on the application form)

STEPH691 · 02/03/2024 12:58

@bonz2023 me to. But I definitely will be ringing Monday 😂😂

Dollysmum37 · 02/03/2024 13:05

I added carers element and disability element to my uc claim on 26th received message yesterday to say it’s updated and back pay will be in Wednesday so really quick 😁

Muvva1981 · 02/03/2024 15:58

H everyone .

I called for the dla form 9/11, sent off signed for recorded and was received signed for 30/11.
Received a letter dated 17/1 saying it would take up to 15 weeks for a decision. I’ve seen others saying it’s longer than 15 weeks . Is there anyone with a similar date to myself ?

Is the scan date when the form was received 30/11 or the letter they sent 17/1?

Mazzie1 · 02/03/2024 16:36

@Muvva1981 Hi, the scan date is when they received your forms so yours is 30/11 so they start counting the weeks from then so you would hopefully have a decision by around April
they say 15 weeks but the average seems to be around 17/18 weeks going off of what people are saying on here

Edited

the scan date will be on the letter it will say the date they received it, although you tracked it and it was received on the 30/11 it would’ve been a few days/weeks before it got scanned on the system and that’s the date they go from
