@Kkh1 I’ve just phoned up to update that my child has been total school refusal since Christmas (wasn’t’t great before that) and she said it’s with a DM but didn’t know how long for when I asked. TBH she sounded like she’d just woken up and was if she couldn’t be bothered. She said to get school to send something in about it. I said it’s half term next week and she said well it’s only Wednesday. Obviously doesn’t know how things work. I asked if she would put a note on about it for the DM and she said well that’s what I’m going to do now when you get off the phone. No wonder people don’t like calling. As if our lives aren’t stressful enough. Sorry for the rant. 😔

Hope you hear soon. 🤞🏻 xx

No exactly , hopefully they either take that school is closed into consideration or hold of making a decision until they have that information 🤞fingers crossed for you either way don’t need any more stress put on you waiting. Feeling very worried as mine is the 10/10 an seen lots of scan dates ahead of mine be awarded. I called yesterday a lovely man said It was with a decision maker but could be two weeks before I hear anuthing( know that’s the standard message they are told to say) but he couldn’t give me any insight x

@WhereDidTheTimeGo888 Thank you, this is how we got onto cahms in the first place but to be accepted for a Neuro Developmental assessment she needs to display in more than one setting, so home and school and although school accept she is socially awkward, she masks heavily, because her grades are good and she's not disruptive we are having major problems getting her an ND Assessment. Because she masks in school she doesn't have the energy to do any outside school activities that I could use to help with the assessment. I'm really hoping college will be more helpful.

It is such a struggle! x

WhereDidTheTimeGo888 · 14/02/2024 09:41

@kkh1 I don’t even want to ask the school to provide the information. I just feel so stressed with it all. I’m wondering if I just left it if the DM would contact the school or myself.

Hopefully yours won’t take that long and you’ll hear good news soon. Let me know if you do. Xx

@sjm100 your child sounds exactly like mine who is also 15. School wouldn’t refer for the same reasons as yours so I went to the GP, I think I was at breaking point by then. I told them what school said and everything that was happening. Things were just getting worse. He’d go to school and keep himself ok and just have almighty meltdowns at home. He was doing well in his classes so they didn’t see a problem. He also had a diagnosis of dyspraxia from when he was around 6 with autistic traits mentioned, so I don’t know if that helped the GP.

I hope your daughter gets the help she needs. It really is such a fight for everything for them when it really shouldn’t be. Xx

Hi All,
I phoned up yesterday and after a long wait to ask whether I should send in my daughters finalised EHCP or whether it would be too late in the process to send it. The lady wouldnt tell me anything at all about my claim but said to send it and gave me an address.
I have since seen that sending extra evidence means that they don’t reimburse you as they should so would rather not send the extra evidence. My question is, would I need to tell them this or if I don’t send it, will they continue with my claim?! My scan date is 12/10.
Thanks!

I had this exact situation. i called Monday wanting to send extra evidence and they said it was with a decision maker but still to send it. Then like you I read they won't always backdate if you do. I didn't send and woke up to the award this morning. My scan date was 11/10. I'd hold it back, if you get awarded it's good evidence for the MR.

SarahL22 · 14/02/2024 10:05

Thank you @CometCupidDonnerBlitzen If that’s the case, I take it they don’t put it on hold?! Just worried if I don’t send it that they’ll not complete the claim at all?!

Journeytosober · 14/02/2024 10:14

Just spoke to a really helpful person. We’ve been awarded HRC and LRM (questionable but after 20 weeks I’m glad just to have a decision!)

Until June 2028. I’m glad I won’t have to go through this for another 4 years, it’s been a very stressful process

I presume not. The lady I spoke to said she was making a note on the account and the DM would look at the evidence we sent in no matter when it arrived. So like you I was super worried I'd paused my claim. But I've woken up to the back payment this morning so I'm really glad I didn't send it now. I'll save it for the renewal whenever that may be.

school held up our assessment from the age of 5 cahms wouldnt accept him for assessment because I was the only one with concerns he was then diagnosed at 10!
I get your frustration it's really awful some schools don't realise the impact they're causing to their present and future 🙁 I hope you start to get all the support you need x

sjm100 · 14/02/2024 10:52

@RainsbowandBunnies thank you, my main reason for pushing this as far as I have is so that she has all the support she needs to succeed in the future. x

@RainsbowandBunnies it’s awful that it takes so long. All those years of help just lost for our children. Schools need so much more training and need to start listening to parents, who know them best!

It’s exhausting, but our children are worth every bit of the fight! X

They will probably decline it and ask you to fill out PIP, so best to fill out your PIP form

@CometCupidDonnerBlitzen Congratulations on your award! I bet that’s such a relief for you.

12/10 I’m still waiting. Don’t know if I can bring myself to ring in case it’s bad news. X

You should ring in. Their custom serv is terrible. The lack of communication is horrendous and mentally draining. You should definitely ring in to try find out. Personally, I think they need more training as I just rang in now, and she was giving me the wrong info until I had corrected her. She was quite defensive, but I walked her through her mistakes, and she then apologised.
