13/10 woke up to a payment of £2045 in my bank, so relieved for my little girl 🥺 I’m thinking HRC as she’s only 2.5 and I applied end of September. Does that sound right?

CometCupidDonnerBlitzen · 14/02/2024 06:20

Thank you @RainsbowandBunnies. Those must be some pretty powerful prayers because when I woke up at 5am and did my bleary eyed check of the bank I got the shock of my life. I have a payment of £2195 going in tomorrow! I've already woken my husband up and had a little cry. I can't believe it. I really thought it would just be like everything else where my daughter isn't understood.

Anyone thinking of applying, please do. We had minimal professional evidence, I think what probably swung it was a very helpful letter from my daughter's teacher last year.

Can someone help me and tell me if I'm working out rates correctly?

MRC £68.10
LRM £26.90
Added together £95

Forms requested on September 4 so 23 weeks backpay. 95x23=2185. It's £10 more than that and I have no idea why but that's the closest I can get my sums, is that correct do you think? MRC and LRM? When will my first regular payment date be?

Thanks again for all the support (and letting me have a moan). Keeping my fingers crossed lots of people wake up to the same surprise I did. x

RainsbowandBunnies · 14/02/2024 06:25

Oh yay!!! I'm so pleased you are catching a break! The extra £10 is that the Christmas bonus x

Congrats @Naylor19 x

20 weeks at 101.75 would be £2035, so I think that's right but someone better at maths than myself will be along I'm sure. Congrats!

A Christmas bonus! Amazing, I didn't realise there was one. Thank you. I still can't quite believe it.

@CometCupidDonnerBlitzen congratulations Im so happy for you, this gives me hope, I have very little medical evidence, school are useless, we suspect my daughter has adhd/asd very possibly a mixture of both, because she masks in school and is doing quite well, its taken 3 years just to get her on cahms, not for ND mind, just emotional and well being support, I sent 3 or 4 pages of things I do for her on a daily basis to get her through the day and what happens if I don't do these things, I'll be honest it made me question if I did too much but writing what would happen if I didn't helped, if we get awarded I think I will use it to go private for her x

How old is she if you don't mind me asking? Our daughter was exactly the same at her first primary school. They actually laughed at me when I suggested she may be autistic. I'm still seething about our treatment back then as all it did was prevent my daughter getting support she really needed. We eventually got to see CAMHS (pre-covid) and they were next to useless. They told me she couldn't be autistic because she made "great eye contact". The only help we ever got at that age was for Tourettes but even then she was too young for most of the therapies so we were signed off and told to come back if things got worse. Then covid happened and there was no going back. We ended up moving schools in the end which was scary but actually the best choice we ever made. The new school has an excellent SENCO and it has made all the difference to her happiness. He has helped us see SALT, OT and is now helping us apply for an EHCP.

The only advice I could offer is go back to your GP and say you want the "right to choose". We have just joined the waiting list with Clinical Partners for a combined ADHD and autism diagnosis. All we had to do was fill out the questionnaires on the Clinical Partners website and take them to the GP. She referred us that same say and we are now on a 7 month wait rather than a "sometime in the next 3 years" wait. Clinical Partners is just one provider, there are lots of others and some may have shorter waiting lists.

WhereDidTheTimeGo888 · 14/02/2024 07:32

@CometCupidDonnerBlitzen Congratulations on your award! I bet that’s such a relief for you.

12/10 I’m still waiting. Don’t know if I can bring myself to ring in case it’s bad news. X

sjm100 · 14/02/2024 07:55

@CometCupidDonnerBlitzen she is 15 now so we will soon be applying for pip for her, which Im told is simpler moving from dla to pip how true that is Ill find out in May, no one told me I was able to apply for dla which is why its taken me so long to get here. We have always had issues with her, cahms said we need to ask for a consultation with the ND equivalent in school as the person doing the assessment could see traits of asd and adhd but wasnt able to refer us herself, asked school for the consultation but got told because she is doing ok in school and she has a referral for emotional support they wont see her. We went to a college open day recently and we explained the situation and he was brilliant he said he would refer her to their well being team for an assessment on day one and if the team see the same as I see then they will push for a ND assessment for us, so September cant come quick enough. Im in south wales and we dont have the right to choose option sadly. Its been a long up hill battle! X

@sjm100 hi, I don’t know if you already know but you don’t have to wait for the school to refer. Sometimes they aren’t very helpful at all and try to say everything is ok, when you know as a parent that your child is struggling and needs help. You can have an apt or telephone call with your GP and they can refer your daughter. I did that with my child and as soon as I explained she totally agreed and referred him that day and couldn’t believe school were doing nothing.

Apologies if you already know. I just find there’s not much advice or help out there and it’s always such a fight to get anything and really exhausting. xx

Does area have any impact on wait times ? I'm Worcestershire and I'm dreading the wait already 😩 is having 2 bits of write of supporting evidence from the school going to be enough 😪 no plans in place as awaiting adhd assessment

What’s your scan date I’m still waiting 7-11 and I’m Worcestershire x

mummyof3girlsx · 14/02/2024 08:45

starting to think i haven't sent enough! I only had the forms i filled out with all the struggles, a letter from the teacher written to the GP stating she believes its adhd and things that have been put into place at school, plus her observation notes. A SEN support plan that has been put into place which has all struggles listed from schools point of view and the strategies they have in place (wobble cushion, calm corner, time out etc) and then i called up to let them know she has been accepted by clinical partners right to choose for an assessment and should have an appointment shortly... is this enough?! gosh the anxiety is real right now! x

SarahL22 · 14/02/2024 09:08

Hi All,
I phoned up yesterday and after a long wait to ask whether I should send in my daughters finalised EHCP or whether it would be too late in the process to send it. The lady wouldnt tell me anything at all about my claim but said to send it and gave me an address.
I have since seen that sending extra evidence means that they don’t reimburse you as they should so would rather not send the extra evidence. My question is, would I need to tell them this or if I don’t send it, will they continue with my claim?! My scan date is 12/10.
Thanks!

@27Rosie16 send everything you have , maybe put a covering letter in with whats going on and that they mask at school . I even sent the meeting log (i ask the senco to do one every time i go to the school) as they are awful at actually following through with what they say. Ive got a awful feeling ill be declined with not having a professional of any type writing in the "people that no them bit" i just had a family friend write as my son masks at school x

Just to put your mind at rest, we didn’t get anyone to write in the ‘people that know them’ bit at all for our son. We sent in evidence of his SALT assessments and paediatrician report (even though the paediatrician report was 18 months out of date) with a big write up and were awarded MRC for 2 years.

Hi there, first time poster.

Applied for DLA for 3 year old son - scan date was 20/10

Just phoned this morning (only on hold 5 minutes) I phoned at 9am

16 weeks was last Friday, the guy I spoke to was really friendly.

Sent some further evidence in a few weeks ago - still not on system
He said they are working on an 18 week timescale (last week was 16 weeks timescale so it seems to have slipped)

It's still in queue waiting to go to a case manager.

He was very helpful and gave me an address to post any exra stuff to:

Disability Benefit Centre 4
Post Handling Site B
Wolverhampton
WV99 1BY

He also recommended sending recorded delivery.

Same here I’m 10/10 😓😓 xx

@Kkh1 I’ve just phoned up to update that my child has been total school refusal since Christmas (wasn’t’t great before that) and she said it’s with a DM but didn’t know how long for when I asked. TBH she sounded like she’d just woken up and was if she couldn’t be bothered. She said to get school to send something in about it. I said it’s half term next week and she said well it’s only Wednesday. Obviously doesn’t know how things work. I asked if she would put a note on about it for the DM and she said well that’s what I’m going to do now when you get off the phone. No wonder people don’t like calling. As if our lives aren’t stressful enough. Sorry for the rant. 😔

Hope you hear soon. 🤞🏻 xx
