Thank you. I had a call from a DM when claiming a few years ago with my first son but perhaps that’s because something wasn’t clear on the form. Congrats on your award xx

NJB93 · 10/02/2024 17:48

Could I ask a question for those who are on UC. At the moment I don’t claim it, but will be looking to reduce my hours once my son goes to a specialist school. If you claim the carers element, does that mean you don’t have to look for more work/hours? My youngest is 3 and I’ve read you still need to be doing up to 30 hours. Any advice would be really great. Thank you xx

Mummybabies2 · 10/02/2024 18:05

@Sallyt7110 i received money in my account yesterday then I phoned up to find out and I was told we have being awarded hrc/lrm until 2030.I wasn’t expecting that much because I only sent 3 piece of evidence,I sent his Autism diagnosis letter,SLT and letter from school

Swedishdiplomat · 10/02/2024 18:57

If you don't send in any evidence from school, do they always contact the school?

DD7 has been accepted on ASD pathway and also has major sensory issues. The school referred her, but mainly on how she is at home (also her sensory issues meant she had a long period of being an hour late to school most mornings due to massive meltdowns over clothing). However, she mostly masks at school and to be honest, I don't think the SENCO believes she is neurodivergent. I assumed she was on the SEN register based on what the SENCO had said, but I'm not sure this is the case as we don't have regular meetings/have never seen an official plan.

So, I didn't ask school for anything, though I referenced her school refusal (in addition to the clothing issues, there was also a period of just generally refusing to go in, teachers having to peel her off, a couple of meltdowns in the school office), also things teachers have said in the past about her poor concentration and having to help keep her on track. The report from her initial paediatrician appointment for ASD (which I sent in) also references what the school put in their referral. She's also had an OT assessment (done at school) and the report from this (also sent in) also obviously references school.

I was very detailed about how she is outside of school.

Morning, my scan date was 11/10 and although I’ve not received a letter I have a Monzo notification of money going in on Tuesday!! 🥳🥳 Not sure what I’ve actually been awarded but it roughly works out as 23 weeks of MRC and LRM ☺️

Is our payment date then automatically every 4 weeks from the date the back pay goes in?

Edited

I don't think so.... Think backpay is all indicative of how long the payment takes to reach you. The award letter, or if you call them, will confirm what date period the backpay covers. Example, we've just been awarded MRC and LRM on 7th Feb backdated from 27th September and includes up to 13th Feb. First normal payment will be 12th March. We've not received back pay yet but the guy said it can take up to 5 working days to hit the account... Hope that makes sense x

Even if you didn’t send much evidence they can obviously see from your form how much extra care he needs. Good news. Fingers crossed for everyone else too xx

For those whose children have been awarded:

Please could I ask your experience with how you were informed, and timings?

Did you receive your decision by letter or text? How long after the decision date did you receive payment? Thank you xx

Janemama2024 · 10/02/2024 20:31

Just adding my info to follow this thread. So I believe our scan date was 27/10. This is all new to me. I’ve had two letters and one text on 29th. My little boy is 4 with ASD, in the process of EHCP at school although is no further forward than it was when I sent the form in so nothing to update first appointment is 11th March . He has a diagnosis letter from paediatrician, a SALT report (he was unbelievably discharged from their service so have rereffered him) , Autism outreach report detailing the need for EHCP and extra support in school, I also sent his school support plan and toileting plan from school as well as noting that he was due to see the Ed Psychologist and go through the EHCP process . He masks so will take part in things if they are repetitive such as the walk round to school which he manages fine with a childminder or ourselves but doesn’t manage with more complex and unpredictable tasks hence extra support due to limited speech which is improving. At the time doing application (sept 2023) he was in Nappies all day and night however wears his pants for long periods of time now and will use the toilet when taken and prompted, still nappies for a number 2 and overnight so haven’t updated the application because he still requires assistance with toileting at school and home as well as throughout the night.

Basically I’m in the 15th Week now with a pretty legitimate stack of evidence so getting concerned that’s it’s going to be a decline. I don’t think I’ve got it in me to ring feel like I’ve rambled on in the answer section

thanks for reading

They're taking anywhere from 17 to 20 weeks so I wouldn't worry just yet... I know it's hard though but keep you head up

10/10... And I only called as I'd seen people with later dates than me get decisions. I called yesterday and they confirmed everything over the phone x

It was 23 weeks from calling about the claim to the money going in. It’s MRC and LRM X

For those who haven’t been awarded yet (or think they haven’t), my little boys scan date was 9/10, I rang on Thursday to be informed he was awarded the day before. I haven’t had a txt, letter or back pay yet. If I hadn’t have phoned, I’d still be worrying. Don’t give up hope and don’t necessarily assume your claim hasn’t been awarded if you haven’t heard anything yet. Hope this settles some anxiety

I didn’t get a notification with either of my kids, just a lump of backpay in the bank after around 15 weeks with my daughter (middle of last year) and about 18 weeks with my son (awarded last month). Then a letter followed about a week later.

Anything you have to do for them in the hours you would normally be asleep (not in the time after theyve gone to bed but you haven’t gone to bed yet).
