Hi, been following for a while, my scan date is 9/10 is it worth me sending in more evidence at this point will they get it in time? Thanks!

Margot82x · 31/01/2024 11:03

I called lastnight from 4pm to be cut off at 5pm

I called again this morning on hold for 58mins and it cut off again 😭

Trying again now.. see how long it takes.

I only need to check they’ve received/scanned most recent evidence and to update on appointment outcomes that have happened in mean time. 😫

I'm just looking into this, too. My daughter is 12, so I will no longer be getting NI credits for her (I think they stop at 12) I think I'm entitled to carers allowance, and it would certainly be worth getting the NI credits, however, I'm on Tax Credits and have had my migration notice for UC so it's very confusing timing wise.

I think I'm going to make an appointment with one of the disability charities for advice as it's a minefield. (I also get PIP)

@RainbowZebraWarrior when you move over to UC you may be eligible for LCWRA because of your PIP (it's a bit like ESA, it's for people who they believe their disability affects them to the point they are not expected to work/prepare for work). You cannot receive both the LCWRA element and carers element of UC - you get whichever is higher (LCWRA is significantly more). If you have a partner living with you then they could claim the carers element instead. Carers allowance is still allowed I believe but would be taken off your UC pound for pound. If you don't qualify for LCWRA then you could claim carers element.

I hope that makes sense! To qualify for LCWRA you have to go through a medical assessment process similar to PIP.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 31/01/2024 11:22

@PixieBach that's really helpful, thanks. I'd been looking into that and it definitely seems the way ahead for me.

Has anyone with the scan date 28/09 had an update today or a decision? This wait is driving me mad, was with a DM yesterday when I rang to update them about a refferal

PixieBach · 31/01/2024 11:41

@RainbowZebraWarrior No worries. I get both PIP and LCWRA and the LCWRA process is far less intense than PIP or DLA. I do still get a work allowance too, so if I want to I can earn up to £379 a month without it impacting anything or reducing my claim (I do, as I am self employed). I'm a single parent though so it's a bit frustrating that I can't claim the carers element of UC. I can be both disabled and care for my disabled children but obviously the DWP aren't on board with that yet!

I'm 28/9 and was told yesterday it's with a DM. I've not heard anything yet but if I do I'll keep you updated. Every notification I get I'm on edge incase it's THE text lol 😬

I'm in exactly the same situation as I'm self employed, but earn very little and I'm a single parent. I had sort of made my peace with probably not being entitled to CA, but the LCW does seem a much better avenue and definitely applicable. That's made me feel much better as it just seems like constant hoops to jump through - PIP was awarded 5th Jan, just got the DLA today and now I have to do the migration by April. Thank you so much again for the info.

@Siobhangrace ah I will do, when I rang this morning they said it’s with a DM, so praying it’s soon.

Phoned today and we've been awarded MRC, absolutely over the moon! Thanks to everyone here for all the help and support. Absolute best of luck to everyone waiting. Notifying UC now so will hang around 😁

lpt33 · 31/01/2024 12:18

@Amytate Stressful isnt it. I am 13/10 and as it draws closer and closer i just find myself feeling more and more anxious. i thought the 15 week lead time i was given was miles away but most people are looking between 19-23 weeks for a decision.

@FlutterByASD you were the first person that came to mind when I thought to post in the group, I was too impatient today and called again and was told actually awarded yesterday just no text. I bet the next time you call, you'll hear the same thing!

I was originally going to wait until Friday to ring, but have seen so many times where people have had a decition but had no text and not known until a payment went in or rang for an update, I've been so patient until these last 2 weeks driving me mad lol
