@oscarsmommy if you get UC they did 3 cost of living payments extra to help those on low income. So you get a text with the date on the next payment this is the final one. ☺️

@Amycroft ah a couple weeks before mine so hopefully not long for me now, bet it’s such a relief getting that text!

Mariehanna · 31/01/2024 09:07

@RainbowZebraWarrior I rang yday and was told my daughters been awarded mrc/lrm no money in bank as of yet but need to work out what it would be my scan date is one day before yours

good luck to everyone end of September lady I spoke to yday said there getting through end of September this week work a call I didn’t expect nothing as I had no text and did request one xxx

Siobhangrace · 31/01/2024 09:10

mez2004 · 31/01/2024 09:12

Been watching this thread for months! I sent off 2 claims - both scanned 28th Sep. I called on Monday to be told my daughter has been awarded HRC LRM, I nearly hit the floor! Payment had been released on Monday, can anyone advise roughly how long it took to go in the bank please? I see people saying they can see pending payments - have no idea how to look for this! Now just to wait for my son, which they said will be another 4 weeks which makes no sense given they both had the same scan date!

Congratulations hun. So pleased for you all.

Congratulations on everyone’s awards! 26/09 and still waiting nervously! Anyone else still from September waiting? I rang on Monday to be told waiting in the holding line for DM. The wait is making me not be able to function! Praying after fighting for nearly 10 years my boy gets what he deserves!

I'm 28/9 and was told yesterday it was with a DM and I would have a decision in the next couple of days.

@FlutterByASD fingers crossed for you, hopefully mine is too! When it takes so long you can’t help but think the worse, especially when middle of October are getting awarded.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 31/01/2024 09:28

Amycroft · 31/01/2024 09:06

@RainbowZebraWarrior what do you mean by x23 weeks?x

I worked out that the backpayment was the equivalent of MRC / LRM x 23 weeks which would take it to the day I rang for the forms. So my scan date was 29/9, but I rang for the forms on 23/8. It's always backdated to the day you rang (assuming the form was back on time)

Hope that makes sense.

Fingers crossed we get some news soon. I rang yesterday to ask whether it was worth me sending extra evidence and the lady I spoke to said that a decision would likely be made before it arrived which gives me some hope.

@RainbowZebraWarrior What happens if you didn't ring for the forms?? I'm sure I just printed mine out online?x

FlutterByASD · 31/01/2024 09:38

@Amycroft it will be backdated to your scan date.

I'm 5/10 and just rang to update new medication. It's not even been looked at yet. Just frustrating.

Yes, backdated to the scan date. It's basically classed as the start of the claim if you rang for forms.

I'm on hold now. First time I've ever rang. I originally called for the forms in July. I never received them so rang again a month later. I was told then that it would be backdated to the original July date and it hasn't been. I wasn't going to bother, however, it's an extra £400 and that would pay for the specialist mattress my DD needs and they did promise me.

Siobhangrace · 31/01/2024 09:52

@mez2004 keep me update love

Amycroft · 31/01/2024 09:53

Just got through my sons been awarded hrc lrm so so happy for him I hope everyone else gets what they are hoping for! This thread has also kept me going through the longest 18 weeks thankyou all so much

rjnicola · 31/01/2024 09:54

Parking myself

Amycroft · 31/01/2024 09:56

Anyone know if I have to wait for the letter to come to inform uc??

Jesslou37 · 31/01/2024 10:03

@Amycroft no you can update your change of circumstance now if you've got the date they've awarded from and rates. I did mine 2 weeks ago on Friday and asked for the carers element and disability element to be backdated but still no update as of yet. I've seen others get a decision within days. Be interested to know if anyone has had a back payment and is it the full amount or do they calculate what's owed going by each assessment date and what's earned

Amycroft · 31/01/2024 10:18

@Jesslou37 how annoying noone ever gets back to me on the journal. So another waiting game I take it!!!

Amycroft · 31/01/2024 10:22

Also is there no point claiming carers allowance or do I do that too? It's all so confusing I know that gets taken from uc but what's the point in it if it's no difference🤷🏼‍♀️

Hayz0711 · 31/01/2024 10:28

@Amycroft i was told Carers Allowance count towards you National Insurance contributions which is why I claim it. I am not in work & care for my son full time( he’s currently home educated)
So although you won’t be financially better off, it helps in the long run x

I think the difference is carers allowance pays towards your national insurance contributions so you won't have any gaps and will be entitled to a full state pension. If you don't apply for carers allowance atleast apply for Carers credit which will give you class 3 contributions towards NI.

@ItsRalf it's so frustrating, surely they can't be far off our dates now

I'm just looking into this, too. My daughter is 12, so I will no longer be getting NI credits for her (I think they stop at 12) I think I'm entitled to carers allowance, and it would certainly be worth getting the NI credits, however, I'm on Tax Credits and have had my migration notice for UC so it's very confusing timing wise.

I think I'm going to make an appointment with one of the disability charities for advice as it's a minefield. (I also get PIP)

RainbowZebraWarrior · 31/01/2024 10:58

I'm just off the phone to them and they confirmed my daughter has been awarded until her 17th birthday at the end of 2028 which is a relief. It means I don't have to go through reapplying in a year or so.
