@ItsRalf
God the amount of times I've driven around at night to find my child is unreal.

In regards to the alternative provision I basically fought the system at every turn. I told them at every single meeting he wanted to go to early college and I wrote a letter to the head teacher and quoted their ethos to them and explained how they were failing him, how they had no consideration for his mental health and wellbeing and quoted them the government laws around education and the options he was entitled too by 'law' so after that they moved pretty quickly in finding him an alternative provision that me and him liked and all his end of term reports are AMAZING. The teachers at the provision fully understand that the school system is not for every pupil which was why I choose them as they actually understood. It was a long fight, almost 2 years but I refused to give up what was right for him.

Yes finding them at night or the police doing it is something I have alot of experience in unfortunately! Has it made a huge difference for your home life too? I'm quite lucky as school have been fantastic, she just cannot cope. She always upset at the most minor thing and if she will take everything out of context. It's very difficult. I will raise this with school tomorrow and see what we can do. Thank you!

@ItsRalf same as me then hopefully it means it won't be long now fingers crossed hope you get the right decision have to let me no if you hear anything and I will let you no to x

Of course I will do! I've not rang them at all though, I've just let it play out and tried not to think about it. It'd drive me insane otherwise!

I hope you get a good outcome too! I'm hoping it's not much longer.

Coc can someone tell me the waiting time

Tanyacx · 17/01/2024 21:03

What was your scan date if you don't mind me asking

Coc can someone tell me the waiting time

It seems to range. My letter said 15 weeks, the helpline says 20 weeks and some on here have reported 27 weeks ! But on average people seem to being awarded around the 20 week mark

GTsundaydriver · 17/01/2024 21:41

Can someone tell me what you all mean by "Scan date" please? I'm assuming it's referring to the date you scanned in all your evidence to support the claim but I'm unsure. We submitted our claim 04/08/23 and got our backdated payment this month, oddly no letters, emails or calls saying our son was approved so we don't even know what he is approved for or which elements/rate he gets, just the payment. Last correspondence we had was a letter saying a decision should be made within 17 weeks, that was back in September I think

I’m no expert but if you have got a back payment I’d assume you’ve been awarded. You’ll have to call as the letter may not have been delivered. When did you get your payment ? I’m not sure about the scan date, I’ve only ever received a letter to say they’ve received it.

Scan date is the date they said they’ve received your form on

srellim · 18/01/2024 00:18

I recieved a letter 3 weeks after scan date saying it will take upto 15 weeks for the claim. I have been asked to send my child's birth certificate, can I also send extra evidence in the same envelope or is that a different address?

Lauren3x · 18/01/2024 06:43

I’m 2/10 my last text was Monday 8th

Sakura22440 · 18/01/2024 06:58

I have been following this thread for a long time. Scan date 12/9, woke up to the money in my bank account this morning, no award text. Good luck to everyone still waiting.

Scan date 15/9 , called last week told end of Jan /Feb . Waiting times too much !!

I'm 13/9 and rang yesterday and was told it's with a decision maker and should hear this week or next, so I wouldn't believe what you were told as it seems everyone is told different things, I doubt what I was told is true tbh

MC2180 · 18/01/2024 09:09

Any1 know the dla child address for first time application

Carlz90 · 18/01/2024 09:09

Do you only send the birth certificate if its requested? Because I'm pretty sure I didn't send a copy 🙃 I don't want any more delays it's getting so close scan date 23/9

Hlr1994 · 18/01/2024 09:10

Scan date 06/09 - no letter or text, but back pay has landed in my account today. Can’t quite work out what my sons been awarded, but just over the moon it’s all gone through.

TanSav95 · 18/01/2024 09:15

Scan date 16/8, manager didn’t call me back yesterday like they said they would, DM phoned me Friday to ask questions and said she wanted to get this decision done ASAP because of how long we have been waiting, she then spoke to SENDCO at school Tuesday, phoned yesterday no update and no decision.

phoning again now to see what’s going on and what is taking so long when they are now sorting September claims.

NikkiJD · 18/01/2024 09:28

Help with UC. I made the changes and asked them in journal for back payment for the child disability element. They wrote back saying the changes have been made and it’s on the payment statement for next upcoming payment but they’ve ignored my request for the back pay. What do I do about this? Any one else had the same?

Only if they request it, ive not been asked either I'm 13/9 but some just get a letter with an envelope to send it in but heard its very random with who gets asked

They've only just started the September dates, approx wait is now 20 weeks but it seems there starting to get through the back log so hopefully won't be long for you!

Jneill2021 · 18/01/2024 09:43

@Keddie keep me posted if you ring or hear anything fingers crossed xx

Mummytoviboys · 18/01/2024 09:44

Just got through and it’s a decline 😔
does anyone know how I now start a MR!

my LO was only 5 months when I sent off the claim! He’s got genetic disorder and is severely partially sighted! Just being severely partially sighted warrants double the care needs of a sighted child!
feeling very deflated, I have an 11 year old with the exact same condition that was awarded at the same age with same care needs!
sorry for the rant!
good luck to everyone today!

Daniellemcm · 18/01/2024 10:05

@Mummytoviboys I cant believe they have said that of course your child’s needs are going to be greater. I believe you need ring them to advise you wish to do an MR. You can do MR over the phone or in writing. Request they send you a list of reasons for the decline. Personally I would do MR in writing as you can go back on each point they have put as reason as to decline and say why you disagree.

Ilovemychildren123 · 18/01/2024 10:18

Currently on hold 55 minutes so far, rang at 9am on hold 14 minutes and got cut off rang back kept cutting me off hopefully it doesn’t happen again x
