@Gemma111 I don’t think they read things properly either! I don’t know if you need to wait for the letter but I know you can do a MR over the phone, you’d need their reasons so you can then bullet point each one and show where your evidence backs this or write how you feel she does meet this.. I don’t know for sure but I think you can send in new evidence too if you have it. I don’t get it entirely but I think I understand the majority of it so I hope I’ve helped a little bit! Sorry you’ve had bad news and after the awful waiting times too! Deffo keep fighting! We know our kids better than anybody! Hoping for better news for you next time!

Does anyone know can you claim careers and child disability element on universal credit. ?

You need to do report a change, do a change for the child to say they are disabled and then a change for the parent to say they are caring.

Then go to your journal and write a note explaining that you have reported the change and you would like the disability and carers element backdated to the award date and explain that the reason for the delay in reporting the change was due to you waiting for DWP to inform you of the decision and they've only just done this.

Edit - just realised you asked 'can you' not 'how to'. Yes you can, follow what I wrote above

My son finally got awarded 😭 scan date august 29th.
I rang at 9am and got through within 5 minutes! To be told he has been awarded high rate care and low rate mobility from his 5th birthday (which isn’t until September)
I am in absolute shock, what an emotional day. I’m so happy for him and what I’ll be able to do for him now 🥰 good luck everyone who is still waiting xx

Geegee1506 · 12/01/2024 15:04

Rang this morning at 9am was on hold for 15 mins, my claim is with a DM. 8 weeks on Tuesday (MR) fingers crossed hear something by end of next week!

MC2180 · 12/01/2024 15:13

Hi was this a MR
if so what was your scan date

KellieD90 · 12/01/2024 16:12

My scan date is 18th October, I've had 2 letters no texts. My daughter is on the pathway for autism and ADHD and under camhs, sen registered at school and under SALT. Think we will be waiting until March at the earliest been October dates. The wait is awful

Laurahansom28 · 12/01/2024 16:18

I have the same scan date as you. 2 letters but no texts. Getting very anxious now.

ToddlerandTeen · 12/01/2024 16:21

Same scan date @KellieD90 and @Laurahansom28! No texts, 2 letters last dated 5th Dec x

Laurahansom28 · 12/01/2024 16:23

Good luck. Keep me updated. Fingers crossed for you!

Sharniexxx7 · 12/01/2024 16:25

Hi i called first and then received the claim pack on the 27th sep and if i returned it back by the 25th October my claim would be from the 27th sep. I posted it on the 19th October and they received it on the 27th Oct. (2 days later than the deadline) i called today to see if they would honour the date of the 27th Sep and was told that there is no record of me phoning asking for a claim pack and i said on the front page of my claim there was a barcode under my deadline date surely that would of been scanned and she said no your front page is missing so my claim date would start 27th Oct so im loosing a month basically over them scanning in 2 days late she said nothing they could do. :( Iv made a big mistake of not keeping an exact copy of what iv sent off… Also i have another claim and sent extra evidence in on the 2nd Jan, I asked today if they have received that yet and she said no but there is over 800 letters all waiting to be looked at yet and for me to call 22nd Jan to check if they have received it.

EarlofShrewsbury · 12/01/2024 16:39

I've never found waiting so exhausting before.

I'm diagnosed myself with ASD, suspected ADHD added to the mix and I already find waiting stressful and it gives me anxiety.

Waiting in queues in shops, waiting in a restaurant for food or the bill, or a phone call or message. All anxiety inducing.

This wait is making me physically ill.

My last letter was dated 5th December, not heard anything since

Kezzia87 · 12/01/2024 16:49

@EarlofShrewsbury i totally get that! I’m diagnosed bi-polar and suspected autism and I haven’t slept properly in months, constantly checking this forum, my bank and Facebook pages... Especially when they say a certain amount of weeks and it turns out to take longer! I’m very literal in my thinking so if I’m told something I take that exactly as it says.. 15 weeks not 22 in my case! Not only that I can only do 1 thing at a time so other important things are just being left. Now even though I’ve had an award and I’m really grateful I don’t think it reflects my child’s needs at all so I’m gonna have to do a MR! I really hope you get news soon! You’d think they’d be getting faster not slower really!!

ToddlerandTeen · 12/01/2024 16:52

@EarlofShrewsbury I hope you get your answers soon!
Will keep you gals posted on any update if any! Did you send much evidence? X

SALT report, ADHD/ASD referral report from Paeds. Gentic testing report, audiology report, her IEP and the school ALNco filled out the bit on the form for someone who knows your child.

Since applying she's had another paediatrics appointment and they discharged her from their care and referred her to the neurological development team as she's already on the waiting list for assessment so they can't do much more for her. I'm saving that in case I need to do an MR.

She's 7, with suspected ASD and ADHD. She has 1-1 at school and is on the SEND register. I believe she should be entitled to MRC and LRM as per their guidelines.

I feel you hun I’ve been suffering with anxiety and panic attacks…. I’ve really thought since having my daughter diagnosed I’m definitely in the spectrum for autism… my brother is also Autistic. We share so many similar traits.

Kezzia87 · 12/01/2024 18:57

@Holllymum exactly the same as me! I used to joke that I had a streak of my brother in me… Looking back I think it’s been obvious throughout my whole life, they just didn’t know to look for it. Now I’ve got 1 child diagnosed with asd and 1 on the waiting list.. it was through them that I realised what was going on with me as a child and I wasn’t the “naughty attention seeker” I was always labelled as.. Did your daughter get offered genetic testing? They found a fault in my sons dna that’s also present in mine, not sure if it links with the asd but I have a family full of mental health probalems/autism! I hope everyone’s waiting is over soon! It really does take over your life doesn’t it

Helenmummyof3 · 12/01/2024 19:01

@StephXx1 congratulations lovely x

Holllymum · 12/01/2024 19:18

We went private with my daughter, no one could recognise it. My dad had mental health so did most of his 9 siblings also his brother had autism, then my brother has and I have a sister who’s son has autism and my other brother has two kids with autism and one has the adhd as well like my daughter. I didn’t know you could get testing for genetic x

Holllymum · 12/01/2024 19:22

I called toddy said don’t call back till end of March won’t be looked at till then same sort of date as you

Acornsplop · 12/01/2024 19:34

I sent my application in the post on 10 December. I haven't heard back from them at all. Don't they normally let you know that they've received it? I should have sent it recorded!
