So if they message you back after informing them your now getting dla dods that mean it will be straight on there system once they've replied!? And how long roughly have people waited for the back pay? Is it mad different for everyone or roughly the same amount of time xxx

What was the response that you received? If it was just an acknowledgment of the COC and the note you placed on your journal then it won’t be on the system yet. It’ll need to go to a DM and you’ll receive a letter stating whether they accept your reason for reporting the change outside of your assessment period.

You’ll then receive a second letter (no time frame between how much longer it’ll take after the first letter) telling you how much your backpay will be. The amount will then take 3-5 working days, after you received the letter, to go into your account

Also so I'm confused about carers allowance, they take it £4£ so is there a reason to claim that like does it benefit you anyway? Xxx

@Billie1993 have I missed something!!? Do you have a decision 😱😱😱 xxx

Amy92x · 15/11/2023 21:17

Hi I have a quick question so if my son was to be awarded what extra would I be awarded on my uc if I claim lcwwra?

You can receive the disabled child element if your child is awarded LRC/MRC/HRC (so any award).

You won’t be able to receive carers element if your child is awarded MRC/HRC as you already receive LCWRA. DWP will only pay one and LCWRA is more than carers element so it works out anyway.

You can claim carers allowance if your child is awarded MRC/HRC but just remember that it isn’t any additional money as it’ll be deducted pound for pound from your UC claim. If your child is awarded LRC then you won’t be eligible for carers allowance

PinkMoscatoLover · 16/11/2023 00:06

@Tmxx ah yeah so as they've said, they'll
update you once a decision has been made
so just keep an eve on your journal.

It really just depends on what you want to do. Some people are happy to claim the carers & disabled child element on UC and some are happy to claim carers allowance despite it being deducted from UC.

The two benefits of claiming carers allowance is that you have the option of being paid weekly and some people find it helps them to budget their money more. You’ll also get Class 1 National Insurance Credits automatically paid into your pension pot.

Not every carer works or receives UC so it can be an additional income for some. If you already receive UC then you may want to claim carers allowance for the additional payment into your pension pot. If not, don’t worry about claiming it. Just claim the carers and disabled element on UC like a lot of other people do
