Aww I can imagine the frustration I went thru ot for several months with UC, they kept inviting me in to do Job search and I.keot going round in circles saying my son will not sit still especially in an unknown place they just ignore u and have no consideration. I believe we will hear back in November with a decision fingers crossed

Sskanf · 10/10/2023 21:55

I get what you mean about not understanding autism very well. My sons 3 years 8 months ok waiting list for paediatrician referral. I spent several months reading up about autism to understand it and see my son has many traits he is also non verbal I gey stared at everywhere I go with him uts so heartbreaking but I'd be so grateful to also get awarded to get him private speech therapy..I know what u mean about having no one to talk in regards to this I'm in the same situation which is why I really find comfort in this thread

Hi, I’m new here 😊 I was just wondering if there is others that have applied for dla without being diagnosed? I have sent the cahms referral letter with my claim which shows a lot of what he is like but the waiting list for cahms is 3 years 😵‍💫 speech therapy he’s been on the waiting list for 2 years and sleep paediatric his appointment has just come through for a years time, I feel he needs the help now not in years to come

DLA is awarded due to extra care needs and not based on a diagnosis so don’t worry about that. As long as your childs needs are higher than a child of the same age then your claim will be considered. Any additional evidence is always helpful too

Muva306 · 10/10/2023 23:59

@Mastersstudent83 hello, sorry to hear your having to go through the MR process too!! With mine, I took each of their points for rejection and answered why I disagreed and then supplied supporting evidence for example- 2 of the reasons for rejecting were he wasn’t on medication for sleep so I advised he was and sent the peds report with the request for GP to prescribe melatonin and the other was he hasn’t seen salt, cahms or another long lost list of services in the 12 months prior to form being completed so I told them he has seen salt and sent the report.

did you ask for a detailed breakdown of why the claim had been rejected?

I included a detailed letter,a letter from school and senco for my MR .

MrsMacmumto6 · 11/10/2023 07:23

I’m I cannot for the life of me remember. I do know it was the final week to get the forms back so I would say around 6 weeks prior if this helps

Mastersstudent83 · 11/10/2023 07:29

@Muva306 Thanks for this, yes I will be doing the same. I received the reasons earlier this week, just waiting for my daughter's SLT to write a statement in support of our application and then will send this back with our arguments against the points made by DM.

Wait? Do they backdate to the date on the form you sent or the scan date? I literally can’t work out the amount you received 😵‍💫

Goodthingswillcome · 11/10/2023 07:47

Mummyof5kiddos · 11/10/2023 07:55

Teachermum3 · 11/10/2023 08:29

Morning I have the day off so I am going to give them a call. Scan date 12/7 so hopefully the answer I get can give clarity on where we are.
does anyone know the number and options I need to select to get through ‘quicker’ please?
Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately, 12/7 is a long wait away. We are currently on the 7/8/9th June. I would advise to call when you are 15 weeks and follow this thread so you know what dates they are working on. On the phone they are quite vague and abrupt and will probably just tell you it’s an 18 week wait.

Teachermum3 · 11/10/2023 08:47

Sorry I meant 12/6, it’s still early and only one coffee in haha

zoeybrooks45 · 11/10/2023 08:53

Oops sorry, I am the day after 13/06. Let me know how you get on. I assume you will be with DM now?

Mummyrach13 · 11/10/2023 08:56

Let us know how you get on. I can imagine yours is any day now.

Teachermum3 · 11/10/2023 08:59

It would be nice if I was. Fingers crossed. I even dreamt about it last night that’s how it’s taking over my life, living it and dreaming it. I will let you all know.

Boymum333 · 11/10/2023 09:04

Scan date 07/06 on hold currently pray for me guys 😭😭 the anxiety is real. Been with a DM since Wednesday

zoeybrooks45 · 11/10/2023 09:08

I actually got through 09.02am what a record! Finally with DM, refused to tell me how long. As I called Monday and it wasn’t. I can assume Tuesday. I am very anxious now fingers crossed. He was surprised about how much evidence I sent in and said it should make it quicker and that I will recieve a text.

scan date: 13/06.
