Am 40+6 today. Have had a sweep this afternoon and am 2 cm dilated, 50% effaced, waters bulging. Have had irregular contractions since sweep but are in back/bump and groin now and every 8 minutes.

Do you think the contractions could just have been set off by sweep and will result in nothing?

Just passing a bit of time really as I am getting a bit anxious, and would love to hear of other experiences.

Third baby and lost my plug last week.

Hi starlight - I didn't have an internal as such, she just looked up there with a torch to see if there was any 'pooling' of waters when I coughed!

I haven't been induced before.

I don't think I have any fears or reservations.

Will try the things you have suggested and am also going to mow the lawn

No pains but baby is very active. When I lie on my side she is moving against my cervix so much it feels like big needles in it. I don't know if to just stay and let her do it because it might be doing something, or move so she stops!

sn3 - good luck with everything! I can imagine how frustrating it must be but at least you have had plenty of time to think through everything that could happen and what your options may be. I certainly wasn't enthralled with the idea of bring monitored and induced with DD3 after waters went with meconium in, especially after DS was a synto birth too, but I was able to have it as natural as possible by really focusing and dealing with our situation. MN really gave invaluable advice on that front! Will be sending positive labour vibes over the net.

thanks Moshi, and congrats on your birth (I was following the other day)

YAY - I have my baby!!

Evie Anne was born this morning after a labour which was just under 4 hours. Was going really quick but then baby was found to be back to back so Registrar and MW had to deliver but luckily didn't have any intervention and NO PAIN RELIEF - I wanted it but no time for any and had to give up the G&A as registrar needed me to put my all into pushing so she could rotate head at same time. Evie was 8lb 2oz and it was so painful but she is so gorgeous!

Thank you so much to everyone for all your lovely help and kind words xx
