While I am waiting for my HB I thought I would write this thread for all those other first timers who are planning HB's. I am a first timer and I have no idea whats going to happen or whether it will result in a successful HB but I thought this could be useful to others in my position...

Sounds like things are going really well there ChocO and you are coping fantastically

I'm off to get some supper and feed the little monster; will check back in before I go to bed .

NorthernLurker · 09/11/2008 22:42

Ooh that sounds good. I always found it very useful to think of every contraction bringing me nearer to meeting our baby. It's a good useful pain and you can do it! I also got dh to coun through the contractions so I knew when the most intense bit was over.

ChocOrange05 · 09/11/2008 22:42

I've given up on Brokeback Mountain as I actually want to watch it and it keeps getting interupted so we are going to watch Borat as we have seen it before and should be a nice easy, and funny watch.

Ouch, a ctx......

OH said I looked like Stevie Wonder when I was CTXing. I closed my eyes blew loads of breath out and rocked.

Being at home really makes it feel easier.

Boobz · 09/11/2008 23:00

Off to bed Choco - hoping there is an update on the HB thread as well in the morning!

MinkyBorage · 09/11/2008 23:04

Oh my goodness, how exciting. Good luck

bythepowerofgreyskull · 09/11/2008 23:06

need to go to bed soon,
good luck - keep breathing, don't hold your breath, try not to grind your teeth or your jaw will really hurt tomorrow.

YOU CAN DO IT!

ChocOrange05 · 09/11/2008 23:07

Ctx are getting more painful now and rather than sitting on a rocking footstool which I was doing before I am having to stand up and lean over our mantlepiece instead.

Hooray!!! baby is on its way!!

each contraction will pass.. and bring you closer to your baby.

Enjoy Borat!

LuckySalem · 09/11/2008 23:10

Oh I've got everything crossed for you. Just keep breathing and swaying, Get DP to rub your back, ANYTHING that you need.

liahgen · 09/11/2008 23:31

choc, when the ctx hit, visualise your destination, and remember to drop your shoulders.

I wouldn't wait for 5 mins apart for 3-4 hours, it may not take that long for them to get 3/2 mins apart.

length and strength of ctx is as important as how often don't forget. The stronger and longer, the more powerful.

Hope you are coping ok. You sound in positive frame of mind.

If ctx tail off, smooch, snog with dh, that should get em pick up again.

Also, tis quite normal at fully to get a lull in ctx, for a while. We call it, rest and be thankful. Really is rest before you breathe your little bundle out into the world.

good luck. x

ChocOrange05 · 10/11/2008 00:18

Nothing much to say except ctx every 5 mins and painful. Going to call the CMW

OP posts:
LackaDAISYcal · 10/11/2008 00:20

I'm off to bed now ChocO. sounds like you are doing great.

Agree don't hold off calling the MW; things can move a lot quicker than the "norm" for a first baby. If you are struggling to cope then you need to get her there (she'll bring the gas and air ).

Looking forward to hearing your news in the morning.

Good Luck

LackaDAISYcal · 10/11/2008 00:22

oh, cross post

and breathe in......and out......in.......and out.......

won't be long now sweetie

Night xx

NotanOtterOHappyDay · 10/11/2008 00:24

lauraw78 · 10/11/2008 00:51

Good luck ChocOrange and babe!

Relax and enjoy, you'll be meeting your little segment soon

I loved labour - felt like I was in the ocean rising up and down on the waves with all the other women who were in labour all over the world at the same time as me!

Good advice to keep your shoulders down and try and relax: maybe kneel over some soft cushions and totally relax between each one.

lots of positive vibes to you!
