While I am waiting for my HB I thought I would write this thread for all those other first timers who are planning HB's. I am a first timer and I have no idea whats going to happen or whether it will result in a successful HB but I thought this could be useful to others in my position...

You're doing really well and your baby is going to be here soon ( I reserve the right to define 'soon' as a time of my choosing!) Love the nursery - what a great job you did.

chocolategal · 09/11/2008 21:38

enjoy the film choco
and goodluck for the rest of the night, sounds like you are doing a fab job xxx

My totally unplanned homebirth arrived within 15 mins of me thinking ooh im in labour after the shock it was the best thing ever to happen for me! Im wishing you good luck and hope all goes well for you glad you had planned it though your lo will be with you soon

ChocOrange05 · 09/11/2008 22:00

Brokeback mountain did the trick!!

Ctx have started again 5-10 mins apart lasting 50 seconds +

Not too bad at the moment - going to see if they continue like this for the next 30 mins or so and if consistent DH is off to fill the birthing pool.

I must say, so far being at home is fab!

fantastic ChocO . Now is your MW on her way? and if not, when did she say to call?

Oooh, I might let DH have the bed tonight and me have the sofa so I can stay up with you

...nothing like another newborn mewling to help you along

MonkeyMargot · 09/11/2008 22:11

Oh goody choc! You sound really calm you super-star you. This is so fab. Good luck tonight - i'm going to bed soon so I expect to see some exciting news by the morning!!!

angrypixie · 09/11/2008 22:12

Oh no, really have to go to bed. Sending you all manner of good wishes (be sure to print out the thread in its entirety for your LO) Hope to hear all about your new baby tomorrow.

Hope you stay this chilled and positive.

merryberry · 09/11/2008 22:16

I'm off to bed too. Have a wonderful night, I'm willing much strength and happiness over in your virtual direction!

ChocOrange05 · 09/11/2008 22:16

I call the MW after 3/4 hours of 5 min apart / 1 min long ctx. Does that sound right???

Have sent DH to fill the pool as I want it to be ready to go when I am!!

The MW brings the gas and air but at the moment I don't feel like I need anything - apart from the nice back massage from DH.

I feel very relaxed but I don't think this is the peak yet so am expecting some more pain later!

Brilliant! So pleased it has started up again.

lauraloola · 09/11/2008 22:21

Good idea to have the pool ready and it gives you dh something to do. Gas and air is fab!!

bythepowerofgreyskull · 09/11/2008 22:25

I think I would say that you should phone the midwife when you feel you need to.
things don't always progress the way they have for other pregnant ladies.

good idea to get the pool started - you may need time for the water to heat up again.

Soooo excited for you

I have to go to bed now (damn dd for waking early now) Good luck to you and Mr ChocOrange xxx

ChocOrange05 · 09/11/2008 22:33

Ctx coming fairly regularly now - every 5/6 mins. I am getting through them on my own while DH fills the pool. I keep trying to take long deep breathes and make my whole body relax and keep visualising waves on the beach in Hawaii (where we went for our honeymoon).

i am watching your story full of admiration for you, hope it all goes as you have planned it to and that you soon have your little baby, good luck !

Ebb · 09/11/2008 22:37

Sounds like things are progressing well. Look forward to reading the rest in the morning and hopefully you will have a baby by then. Off to bed before my own little insomniac wakes! Good luck and enjoy the birthing pool. Mine was wonderful although the mw made me get out at the end because I was falling asleep instead of pushing!
