While I am waiting for my HB I thought I would write this thread for all those other first timers who are planning HB's. I am a first timer and I have no idea whats going to happen or whether it will result in a successful HB but I thought this could be useful to others in my position...

Lovely thread! Enjoy your day, it'll be very special. Had all 3 of mine at home. Waters only went early (ie before 2nd stage) with no.2 and I couldn't have dreamt of going for a walk after that as I leaked after every contraction.
At your stage, I generally make millionaire's shortbread as it's the first thing we and the midwives eat after the birth.
Keep us posted then.

Oh chocO - can't wait to see your next posting. Good luck with trip to sainsbury's! Am really excited for you!!! xx

ChocOrange05 · 09/11/2008 13:45

CMW has been - she took my BP 98/54, checked baby's heartbeat which was fine and my temperature which was also fine. She said they wouldn't do an internal examination until I was having consistent contractions.

She said my period pains sound like the latent stage of labour but they are a good sign as means my body is preparing itself. However now my waters have broken I am on a deadline to have the baby or on Tuesday morning they will admit me to hospital to be induced.

We also discussed my birth plan and reasons to transfer to hospital.

She said I should call when contractions are every 3-5 mins lasting for at least a minute and have been like that for 3/4 hours, although she did say if I felt I needed someone here before that I should also call.

Going to Sainsburys now for supplies - have been told to buy chocolate - OK then!!!

Thanks for all the lovely messages. x

Wow, this is great. I'm planning a homebirth. Thanks so much for this Choc. Sending you perfect labour vibes.

foxytocin · 09/11/2008 13:51

puzzlerocks, did you used to be someone else?

PuzzleRocks · 09/11/2008 13:53

Foxy - I was Fraggle06 from joining in Apr 07 until about Sept this year.

ChocOrange05 · 09/11/2008 13:55

Oh - forgot to mention the CMW wasn't impressed when I munched through a whole box of Ritz crackers while she was sitting here - I was told to eat good carbs. All of a sudden I was starving hungry and so have had the ritz and a bowl of soup.

I am sending good wishes to you Choc - I had two homebirths with ds2 and ds3, and they were wonderful experiences. I'll be checking back here for updates - we need a big mumsnet waiting room so we can all pace up and down together whilst we wait for news!!

Hugs
sunnygirl.

can't wait to hear what happens!

sparkletoes · 09/11/2008 15:23

GOOD LUCK CHOCO!!!

Will be watching this with interest as you are reminding me of lots of stuff I have forgotten about from last time!

C'mon baby, you just HAVE to see your gorgeous nursery before Tue!! XOXO

ChocOrange05 · 09/11/2008 15:39

Back from sainsburys - we walked there and then it chucked it down so lovely DH walked back and got the car to pick me up in (mainly as I have no suitable coat that fits!)

I think I am having "proper" contractions now as they hurt! They started in Sainsburys and I keep going really hot and cold and a bit shivery too.

Going to use Contraction Master to monitor them now and watch the X-Factor from last night - so no one tell me the result!

ChocOrange05 · 09/11/2008 16:27

What a rubbish X-Factor result - I am very disappointed with that one.

PuzzleRocks · 09/11/2008 16:29

How are the contractions Choc?

ChocOrange05 · 09/11/2008 16:31

I have had 3 in the last 30 mins or so lasting about a minute each. They don't seem regular or consistent yet though

star6 · 09/11/2008 16:37

So excited for you

LuckySalem · 09/11/2008 16:42

ChocO - I don't know if it'll effect you but I had latent labour at home for 3 days (after the MW's refusing to belive my waters had broken) I was physically sick just before I went into proper labour but felt sick for the 3 days and barely ate.

Make sure you eat and if you have the same as me don't try to eat while in proper labour and definatly not chocolate.! lol

GOOD LUCK - Hope yours is better than mine. I agree about the bag. I half heartedly did mine and ended up there with no bra or breast pads so I soaked my PJ's in about an hour of wearing them! lol
