While I am waiting for my HB I thought I would write this thread for all those other first timers who are planning HB's. I am a first timer and I have no idea whats going to happen or whether it will result in a successful HB but I thought this could be useful to others in my position...

i bought some mats last week, figured they would come in handy.

good luck!

NorthernLurker · 09/11/2008 20:03

I know chocorange - they talk about pain relief, the need for sandwiches and the importance of watreproof sheeting but never a word about the oozy gunk you can produce! Strange really....

Gillyan · 09/11/2008 20:05

Hi - I've been reading with interest - My waters went with a huge gush and then trickled out for 12 hours after - I had contractions like yours and hospital sent me home but as soon as i left they started coming really strong and really close - shouldn't be long now for you! Get some rest while you can, take care

NorkyButNice · 09/11/2008 20:05

This is all very exciting! I am determined to have a homebirth next time, after an epidural in hospital last time that left me with a spinal headache for a week - so this is great to read!

Good luck!

ChocOrange05 · 09/11/2008 20:08

No ctx yet - eating a massive bowl of leftover mash to keep strong so i hope I can get it down me in time!

I've been itching to get back to the p.c. Sounds like you have everything under control Choc.
Love your nursery btw.

memoo · 09/11/2008 20:11

good luck choc, I have been thinking about you all evening since I read you first post. I Don't even know you but have a real excited feeling!

You'll be meeting you precious little one soon smile xxx

Bienchen · 09/11/2008 20:12

Good luck, choco. Had DD at home and it was fab.

Definitely would not bother with knickers and if you are wearing anything nice you want to wear again, get changed now . I ruined some expensive Isabella Olivier maternity clothes, could have flogged them for a fortune on Ebay!

ChocOrange05 · 09/11/2008 20:13

DH is doing fine - singing "We're having a baby" and making himself some super noodles - he's a very laid back guy but I think it may hit him at some point!

good going choco! let us know if we can do anything for you? bad jokes? good jokes? advice? calming song? rowdy song? we're here for you

iwantasecondone - you just did your doula training, yes? you'll soon be doing this for a living!

merryberry · 09/11/2008 20:15

ayh your dh has the singing down for you

lauraloola · 09/11/2008 20:16

How are the contractions now?

Bless your dh

Belgrano · 09/11/2008 20:18

Choco, walk up and down those stairs if you can bear it (or can get off your old towel/mat after all the leaking slows a bit). Apparently its wonderful physiologically for making everything slot into place for a speedy labour, and makes everything kick off.
Worked for me!

PS He will definitely want to have sex with you again -probably before you do, like [Northern Lurker] says.

ChocOrange05 · 09/11/2008 20:18

no ctx yet since waters laura I am waiting.....

MmeLindt · 09/11/2008 20:28

I love a good birth thread.

LOL at your DH singing and noodling. He sounds like fun

Good luck Choco

JustKeepSwimming · 09/11/2008 20:29

This is making me wish it was me!
And I am NOT getting pg again for AT LEAST a year!!!!

up and down those stairs, hold onto the bannister and count.
I did it for DS2 (but he was breech so c-s but i'm sure it would have helped!).
