While I am waiting for my HB I thought I would write this thread for all those other first timers who are planning HB's. I am a first timer and I have no idea whats going to happen or whether it will result in a successful HB but I thought this could be useful to others in my position...

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

ChocOrange05 · 09/11/2008 19:42

Sorry if I have kept you waiting. DH and I were just about to sit down and watch Brokeback Mountain (not seen it yet) when some more waters started coming out, but as it has been doing so all day I just let it, until I moved again and got a huge gush of water coming out - luckily I was sitting on the waterproof birthing ball. So I tried to get upstairs to the bathroom with a towel between my legs gushing all the way and I had no idea what to do so just stood in the bath and stripped while DH helped and watched me look like I was peeing myself - how is this man ever going to want to have sex with me again???

So lots and lots of water has left my body now and I sat in the bath for 5 mins just to rinse off but since this happened (at about 7.10pm) I have had no more contractions.

DH is now upstairs birth-proofing the house with plastic sheeting and old sheets, bless him, and as the birthing pool takes 1-2 hours to fill we might start that soon and keep it maintained. Ohhhh think a contraction is coming.......

Not a comtraction but felt like it might be, I am rocking on my birthing ball again in the hope of kicking things off!

I had a 'lull' just before my contractions came back thick and fast. Walk up and down the stairs a few times - Too cold to walk outside

That sounds like progress! Keep moving. (And your dh will want to have sex with you - you are doing the most marvellous wonderful thing- whether you ever want to have sex with him again afterwards is another matter )

misdee · 09/11/2008 19:48

once you start to lose watwers, IME things start to move quickly.

am not at all

NorthernLurker · 09/11/2008 19:49

how long have you got to go Misdee - a week or so?

LackaDAISYcal · 09/11/2008 19:50

oooh, choco; the calm before the storm. I hope the MW is on her way over.

bythepowerofgreyskull · 09/11/2008 19:51

have you got the emersion heater on for the water tank?

DH topped up the pool a couple of times whilst I was in there.

so excited for you!

misdee · 09/11/2008 19:51

a week for me. am in early stages. and fed up now.

ChocOrange05 · 09/11/2008 19:51

Bloody hell - just gone through my 5th pair of knickers for the day and zillionth maternity pad - I am now onto the really attractive maternity knickers. Could I be any more sexy????

OP posts:
JustKeepSwimming · 09/11/2008 19:53

You could always give up on knickers? just a thought....

sit on a towel if you aren't comfy with nothing....

Or get in the pool and you won't notice

misdee · 09/11/2008 19:54

i'd ditch the pants. dressing gown on and sit on a pampers care mat now i think.

NorthernLurker · 09/11/2008 19:56

Absolutely ditch the knickers! Nobody ever tells you about all the oozing that goes one when your in labour do they?

ChocOrange05 · 09/11/2008 19:56

Oh thanks misdee I don't have any of the pampers mats but I think I may have spotted one in the birth bag from the MW. I shall have a look.......

NorthernLurker · 09/11/2008 19:56

Oooh and Good Luck Misdee

ChocOrange05 · 09/11/2008 19:59

Yes - why does no one tell you about all this damn leaking?!?!?!!?

OP posts:
LackaDAISYcal · 09/11/2008 19:59

or sit on an old towel?

oooh, meant your body being calm before things kick off, not that it's going to be a stormy ride

LackaDAISYcal · 09/11/2008 20:01

I know ChocO, after my waters went with a huge gush I thought that would be it, but every time I had a contraction I gushed even more. My feet were sloshing in my boots (cheap fake uggs) by the time I got to the delivery ward.

How is DH doing?
