Just a little reassurance needed if anyone's had similar experience. Am 42 weeks and been in early / pre labour for nearly a week ! Had sweep fri and was 3cm, then lots of strong tightenings fri night so not much sleep (or the night before). Was therefore very relieved to have nothing going on last night so had very good night's sleep. Then realised the little fella isn't wriggling around at all. Doula says don't worry. I'm thinking he's probably tired too and getting ready to pop out. But at the same time it's a bit worrying at this late stage in pregnancy ! I'm putting off going to hospital for a couple of hours as am trying for vbac and convinced every time I go in there that I will not be allowed out ! Any advice greatfully received ...

Hi Tomps, am in exactly the same boat as you. AM 42 weeks pregnant today, and trying to have vbac. I also hate going into the hospital, because they always seem to be pushing me into giving in now and having a c-s.
Just to say that somedays baby seems to go quiet for a while, and I have been wondering if he is getting ready for birth too. I think it is posible that becuase you had such a good night's sleep last night, that you didn't notice him moving about so much at night. Mine seems to get moving at about midnight and I notice this if , as per usual, I am awake at that time.

AuntyQuated · 13/03/2005 07:18

is he quiet or not moving? does he respond if you give him a good poke thro your tummy?

soapbox · 13/03/2005 07:31

Actually I'd be keen to get checked out if the baby isn't moving. Why don't you go in - you can always come home if nothing is happening

Is baby moving at all???

tomps · 13/03/2005 07:31

auntyquated - no

agree with soapbox. just go and ask if you can listen to the heartbeat, don't ask anything else, then if all is ok, get out quick!

AuntyQuated · 13/03/2005 07:33

tomps - go in

bathmummy · 13/03/2005 07:36

tomps - don?t leave it, please go in and get it checked right now - worrying and stress for you alone isn?t good.

Shazzyd · 13/03/2005 15:33

Gobbledigook · 13/03/2005 16:54

oh I hope Tomps is alright - keep us posted Tomps.

Niddlynono · 13/03/2005 16:56

Tomps - this is probably too late but I had the same thing. The day after my due date I couldn't feel DS moving so I went to the maternity unit and they hooked me up to a monitor and he was fine. I think he just didn't have enough room to move much.

Hope all is well.

Having had a relative of DH goe through some similar experience recently (baby not moving) I am also worried here. I really hope all is well, and that baby is on it's way to making an appearance (or already has). Thinking of you.
