91 hours!!!!

Expectantmum · 14/03/2005 15:06

Some of you ladies are not "selling" this first time labour stuff! 12 hours sounds bad enough, but 91?????

HandbagAddiction · 14/03/2005 15:13

Waters breaking to induction - 48 hours (no pain, no contractions at all at this point)

First contraction through to 2nd stage - 9 hours
2nd stage - 3 hours.....and would have been longer if the midwife had got her own way!

zubb · 14/03/2005 15:28

to counteract the 91 hours then-
ds1 - 2 hours (from when I knew I was in labour to arrival)
ds2 - 1hr 45min (from first contraction to arrival)
next one due in September so could be quicker!

Expectantmum · 14/03/2005 15:37

Zubb - I'll have one of those labours please!!!! So generally, the first labour is always the longest?!! Oh joys...... [shocked]

flamesparrow · 14/03/2005 15:38

Arrgghh - I think the ridiculously short ones scare me as much as the long ones!!!

Expectantmum · 14/03/2005 15:40

Ummmm, not sure, the thought of spending hours in pain does not seem that appealing to me! Hopefully baby won't take after its father, who constantly keeps me waiting !

LooneyLaura · 14/03/2005 21:03

61 mins!

Due again in June, am worried that I'll sneeze and the next one will slide out!

Flossam · 15/03/2005 07:50

Waters broke 6am, started thread on mumsnet to help me convince DP that I was in labour, he was in bed telling me to go back to sleep as they would 'seal back together again!'. Off to early assessment unit for 11. Shopping for last minute bits and pieces (tens, bras etc) as DS was early till about 4. Home and contractions started half four five. DS born at 11.14 the same evening, so just over 5 hours for the painful bit! Definately try and keep mobile. I reckon it really helped me.

louee · 15/03/2005 09:32

1 hr 20 mins from start of pain to Dd being born including placenta for my 1st and for my Ds 5 hours and pre eclampsia , so not always easier for the 2nd child like they say also had no pain relief for either and no stitches.....hasten to add no more children to come.

roosmum · 15/03/2005 12:11

labour was induced as overdue - hosp notes said 2 1/4 hrs, but more like 3 hrs i think ... only abt 12 mins of pushing though (5 pushes & out!).

evansmummy · 15/03/2005 13:37

Roosmum, mine was similar! Induced for high blood pressure. Established labour only 2 and a half hours, but from induction by pessary to birth of ds was only 10 hours.

hausmuetterchen · 15/03/2005 15:11

I feel lucky when I hear about 91 hours! 1st labour: waters broke at 11:00 pm, baby arrived at 07.04 am, the painful part started at ca. 2.00 am, 8 hours total. 2nd baby: waters broke at 2.00 am, baby popped out at 05.20, with 54 minutes of irregular deep contractions which did not seem that horrendous, total 5 hours. It's great if it's over so quickly but it's also a something of a shock.

Steppy1 · 15/03/2005 19:49

...."niggle" in lower abdomen at 4pm, throat hold on midwife by 4.15pm when asking for pain relief, checked by midwife at 4.30pm, told "DO NOT PUSH HEAD IS THERE" (shock) DS arrived at 6.20pm....faaaantastic

swedishmum · 15/03/2005 20:23

No 4 was 20 mins for baby (after being induced) - change of midwives, what pain relief would you like ..... whoops too late, 2 pushes then out.

lucy5 · 15/03/2005 20:25

was induced at 830 in morning and had dd at 950 in the evening

lucy1979 · 15/03/2005 21:27

was 10 days overdue, had checkup, was already 4cm dilated, hadn't felt a thing! they did a pelvic sweep...bit painful! and told me i should go into labour within 24hrs...3 days later i rang up and suggested booking an inducement, they made an appointment for the next evening, i spent the same day rushing about 'nesting' and as i brought back the clothes from the laundrette i bent down and my waters popped! was very shocked..and wet! then contractions every 2mins. Was going to wait for my partner to return from work but thought better of it and walked across the road to the hospital! by the time i got to the ward contractions every minute! given gas and air for 4hours, drifted off somewhere in my head! and then told to push, at which point my contractions stopped! nurse kept telling me you're having one now..push! and i kept telling her i don't feel like pushing, i have no urge! fed up of being harrassed by the midwifes i pushed anyway! and my ds was born 5hrs after my waters broke!
