Kiwicath · 12/03/2005 11:05

What counts as "labour"?? When you're pushing or when you first get the incling things are happening.

psychomum5 · 12/03/2005 12:23

DD1..from first contraction, 18hr, but on paper, 7hr 47mins
DD2..induced at 9pm..first proper contaction at midnight, born at 4.18am but only 5mins pushing!
DD3...induced 6am..first proper contraction 6pm, born at 12.30am, also 5mins pushing!
DS1...induced at 8pm...first contraction again at midnight, born at 9.52am.
DS2...induced at 9pm...started to contract straight away, born at 5.47am. Only 3pushes to get him out tho

lou33 · 12/03/2005 17:27

my timings were from the first contraction to delivery

kate100 · 12/03/2005 17:45

First contraction at the bottom of the escalator in Boots. DS born 27 hours later, to the minute. Wuld ave been quicker if he hadn't decided he was quite happy where he was and left me at 9.5 cm for 6 hours.

Nightowl, I had my bay at Wordsley. It is closed now, having next baby at Russells Hall

lollydolly · 12/03/2005 20:29

Mine was 40 hours with the first and then 20 hours ending with ceasarean for the second. Needless to say, I am not having anymore!!

lmccrean · 12/03/2005 21:33

my waters broke at exactly midnight 4/5 dec and eva was born at 5.27am (emergency c-section) but barely remember a thing...very dreamlike the whole time. I dont even remember being told I was having a c-section.

jampots · 12/03/2005 21:36

my 9 days + was obviously from waters breaking

62 hours from contraction to delivery

but with 4 hours of pushing

expatinscotland · 12/03/2005 21:42

24 hours exactly. Had first contraction at 4.02PM on Thursday and she was born at 4.05PM the next day.

Potty1 · 12/03/2005 22:13

Ds1 12 hours
ds2 7 hours
dd 90 mins(and that was with the gynae telling me not to push for about 10 mins - Yeah right - the air was blue!!)

jamiesam · 12/03/2005 23:24

Ds1 - 13 hours from first contraction to emergency caesarean.

Ds2 - 12 hours from first real contraction (after 3 days of very convincing, but merely braxton hicks, contractions) to 'natural' birth.

bibiboo · 13/03/2005 00:33

dd was 47.35 hours labour, then 40 mins on top for emergency c-section.

bobbybob · 13/03/2005 04:45

Waters broke at 3.30am, had baby at 5.40pm, so just over 14 hours start to finish. Not bad for a first one, but still of the shorter ones.

lupins71 · 13/03/2005 06:39

first contraction to emergancy csec about 4 hrs i think, was under general anesthetic so didnt know much about it

colditzmum · 13/03/2005 06:42

Waters breaking to baby coming out, 42 hours.

pinklilith · 13/03/2005 21:18

Not sure, about 4 hours I think, I had pethadine and I have no idea which way round things happened. But I wasn't dilating when they examined me, but the examination set it all off properly and my waters broke as I sat up after the examination.

flamesparrow · 14/03/2005 08:04

Very first contraction - 3.30am

"Established Labour" - 2.30pm

DD born - 7.05pm

Sooo... full length 15 1/2 hours, established, 4 1/2!!!

Frizbe · 14/03/2005 08:31

4hrs 40mins in hosp, about 3hrs at home prior to that, 40 mins pushing, voila dd!

MandM · 14/03/2005 09:49

91 hours (is that a record?!!!) First contractions at 10pm Sunday evening, finally delivered by emergency c-section at 5.10pm on the Thursday!!!!!!
Makes my eyes water just thinking about it all again! And now you can probably understand why dd is a one and only child (for the moment.....!)

Becksey · 14/03/2005 14:36

Hello

Didn't go into labour with first had a c/section, I found the operation a bit disturbing and didn't bond straight away with baby but now he is the apple of my eye.

With second waters broke at 1am on the Monday and I had contractions on and off until 12am Tuesday morning then i was in established labour until I gave birth to my beautiful girl at 4am eventhough I didn't find it that painful I just found it exhausting as I hadn't really had any sleep from the moment I stepped into the hospital at 2am Monday morning, I didn't have any pain killers, I was prepared and ready for an epidural but the midwife went through the pros and cons and I decided against it.

I did start to take rasberry tea leaf tablets at 30 weeks at the recommendation of a friend, it is supposed speed up labour and make it easier, my sister also took it and like me found labour quite a pleasant experience and have recommended it to friends.

fairycakes · 14/03/2005 14:56

first contraction 5.47am - baby born 5.47pm - exactly 12 hours to the minute!! not bad for first one, hope the second is no longer!
