CantSleepWontsleep is being induced tomorrow. She's disappointed that she won't get a live birth thread. Come and console her here.

And whilst you're here, feel free to answer any of the following...

What does one wear for induction - nightie ready for it all kicking off, or normal clothes for wandering around hospital in?

Anything else I should add to my hospital bag that I'm more likely to want with an induction?

If the prostoglandin stuff doesn't work, can I decide at that point to leave it, as I don't want my waters broken or the drip?

Would they be able to tell from a scan whether my placenta was still functioning just fine, whereby a few more days wouldn't hurt?

I'll be 40+5, and the induction is because I have gestational diabetes. It's standard practice to induce between 38 and 40 weeks for this, but I've been 'allowed' to go over because my control of it has been good.

and i wore a gown. and chanel no 5.

CantSleepWontSleep · 05/10/2008 22:09

You know I really Don't Like Chanel No 5. My mum wears it and it makes me feel sick!

So 7 hours for you from first prostaglandin? I could prob live with that. Any more and I might start getting a bit tired. Labour started at 5am last time, so I'd at least had a kip first. Def the most civilised way.

lol i don't like it either i was just getting all marilyn monroe in yo face.

no, my waters had burst so they didn't piss about with prosta in my case, just straight on the jag for me. i managed fine for three hours with no tens, no gas and air, no nuttin' until my bp went mental and they gave me an epidural, which was okay as well. i like to give all the facilities a try, see what the nhs has to offer.

och, i'm so excited for you. think what it'll be like when you see that wee face!

CantSleepWontSleep · 06/10/2008 06:10

TCT - just thought I'd let you know that your method hasn't worked for us .

You cheat Aitch, letting your waters break first . No drugs in my birth plan, so hoping for lots of oxytocin to keep me going (esp as it seems I'll be rather tired by then, having been awake since 5). Must be very nearly dd2's actual due date now mustn't it?

"God it's boring. Bishop's score a crappy 5. Been monitored and has pessary but not looking good for today. Or tomorrow. Maybe by next week. Hmm"

Can someone remind me what Bishop's measures please?

CarGirl · 06/10/2008 17:44

5 is okay, it's half way there.

I still had a bishops score 6 painful hours after my first pessary when I was 42 weeks with my 4th

lulumama · 06/10/2008 17:47

it measures lenght of cervix , if it is front or back , if it is dilated, if it is effaced and how engaged the baby is. soft, dilating short front facing cervix is a ripe one .

5 is not too bad at all, and hopefully the pessary will get things cracking on!

sparklesandnowinefor3weeks · 06/10/2008 17:47

Hope things are going ok for you CSWS, won't be long now

EachPeachPearMum · 06/10/2008 17:55

Flame- is she staying in while this happens, or can she go home? [clueless emoticon]
