CantSleepWontsleep is being induced tomorrow. She's disappointed that she won't get a live birth thread. Come and console her here.

And whilst you're here, feel free to answer any of the following...

What does one wear for induction - nightie ready for it all kicking off, or normal clothes for wandering around hospital in?

Anything else I should add to my hospital bag that I'm more likely to want with an induction?

If the prostoglandin stuff doesn't work, can I decide at that point to leave it, as I don't want my waters broken or the drip?

Would they be able to tell from a scan whether my placenta was still functioning just fine, whereby a few more days wouldn't hurt?

I'll be 40+5, and the induction is because I have gestational diabetes. It's standard practice to induce between 38 and 40 weeks for this, but I've been 'allowed' to go over because my control of it has been good.

I think us keeping everything crossed for you for an easy and quick induction has made the Mumsnet Power Of Thought go into overdrive and made baby CSWS think he cannot come, as his mummy is keeping too much crossed.......

me thinks lots of walking and bouncing today are in order for all of us!

EachPeachPearMum · 08/10/2008 08:26

Hi CSWS- fingers crossed here for today.
08/10/08 is a great date for a birthdate!

mustrunmore · 08/10/2008 08:29

maybe she was not pg at all and just wanted lots of attention, now trying to explain it away

perkypopsy · 08/10/2008 08:32

Morning CSWS or is that
cervixstuckwithsuperglue (mine too - is why am watching your progress with bated breath!

Just wanted to let you know ronshar had her little boy last night - beating us all to it

William Dexter 7lb 11oz - both well - am sure she'll be posting on here later tonight knowing her

Have crossed everything except the pesky cervix for you...looking forward to hearing about your new baby soon

PsychoAxeMurdererMum · 08/10/2008 09:36

ok, flame sat next to me with the latest update.....

as follows - "not examined yet, seen consultant and depending on state of cervix will either get one more prostin or not, and def ARM but no drip at some point today"

maybe there will be an 08/10/08 baby by tonight then

Phoenix · 08/10/2008 09:50

Fingers crossed for today csws.

Wasn't dd born on the 8th?

Frizbe · 08/10/2008 10:43

OMG is that baby still in there foudn the right thread then. Good luck for today then!

TattyCatty · 08/10/2008 10:58

Friend of CSWS frm RL here! Just had a text and she's asked me to give you the latest update.

"Was about to have another Prostin when they realised that one of yesterday's hadn't been written up, so now they are waiting for the Registrar to come out of theatre to confirm it's ok to have another! Cervix hasn't progressed since last night, and MW is thinking it might be better to go straight for ARM, although it could be a difficult one. Congrats to Ronshar and good luck to Popsy!"

Sending dilation vibes your way CSWS, and really hope things start moving very soon.

CarGirl · 08/10/2008 12:51

Fantastic news that you got a good nights sleep it will make all the difference to coping with today.

However painful uncomfortable, the ARMs are quick to do - few glugs of gas & air helps.

Majeika · 08/10/2008 12:53

This is reminding me of the episode of FRIENDS when Rachel has her baby!

Sooooo funny!

'Get this baby out of meeeeeeeeeeeeee!!'

Flamebat · 08/10/2008 13:47

Rachel: How many centimeters am I dilated? Eight? Nine?
Dr. Long: Three
Ross: Just three? I'm dilated three!

Flamebat · 08/10/2008 13:50

"Finally got prostin an hour ago. Better than that I've just had yummy steak and kidney pie. Someone needs to explain the diff between and broad bean and a green bean to the chef though. Have to wait 6 hrs before ARM, so DH gone home til 6 and I'm going to finish watching sex and the city on the 2 inch ipod screen then hopefully have a nap"

Clearly not in labour enough if she can still be pedantic

Aitch · 08/10/2008 13:55

lol. she's a trouper. a trouper with an ipod. [proud]

BigTeuchLittleTeuch · 08/10/2008 14:57

Wah, just saw this thread...did I miss anything?

Good luck CSWS!!

PsychoAxeMurdererMum · 08/10/2008 15:54

"I'm now kitted out in sexy white stockings, and am apparently going for ARM at 5, so need lots of watery vibes then, and contracty pushy vibes later. Not a single contraction felt since last prostin!"

perkypopsy · 08/10/2008 16:02

so exciting - just back from 5 mile walk and baby still happy as larry inside - sending lots of relaxedcervixandgushingwatersfollowedvery quicklybyeasybirthvibes your way CSWS - just dashing off to buy myself a snazzy video ipod for next week (have only got brain trainer, learn yourself french and skate boarding game on nintendo which just isn't goling to do it...)

loulou33 · 08/10/2008 16:04

good luck csws with ARM - am doing dilation, contraction and pushing visualisation for you! - yep 08/10/08 is a fab birthdate, get that baby out of there TONIGHT!!

LOL at bean pedantry - sounds like your hospital food is a bit more sophisticated than mine was ...don't think green veggies featured on the menu at all

xxx

lulumama · 08/10/2008 16:05

ooooooopppppppppppeeeeen cervix

guuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuushy waters

PsychoAxeMurdererMum · 08/10/2008 16:07

lulu, come on, tis not quite that easy is it surely

pepperrabbit · 08/10/2008 16:09

Loads of water breaking/contraction/easy birth vibes coming from the Oct ladies CSWS.
This is an impressive thread considering you're not even online!

BloodshotEyeballsintheScarySky · 08/10/2008 16:16

Don't you just hate when you're waiting for news and people drag it out? A dash of prostin and DD was out in 3 hours. Stop clenching CSWS and puuuuuuuuuuuush

We're all pushing with you and it's getting blummin' tiring! I don't want to repeat my 'shite on DH' experience but if I push any more it'll be a close call. (TMI?)

sparklesandnowinefor3weeks · 08/10/2008 17:07

c'mon CSWS

PPPPPPUUUUUUUUSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Aitch · 08/10/2008 17:09

Can't believe he isn't out yet. Was hoping to see him at mother & toddler group tomorrow.

C'mon CSWS!
