I have been having period like pains and backache since friday evening, last night I had an hour and a half of really intense contractions every few minutes, that suddenly stopped, had a few this morning as well, but now back to the period like pains and backache, how long could this go on for?

thanks peachy, and glad you and MoM are getting somewhere with knowing what's up with you.

Mars and Lulu and other lurking cake eating type doulas, have you ever seen what i;ve got again today, sporadic flare ups in finger joints? Have never found anyone myself with same. The pain will be localised over one or two joints, last a couple of days, accompanied by mighty swelling and redness over the joints, stiffness and weakness in the affected hand. i cope on paracetemol and knowing it eventually stops hurting.

i have had this before: worse with ds1 (when my thyroid also got knocked out by my over zealous immune system) and years back all fingers and toes went at same time when my immune system majorly overreacted to parvovirus b19.

BOth PG and athropathy docs agreed it was something immune and PG related in last PG but seemed mightily unbothered and left me to it under the 'delivery will help' banner. WHich it did a bit, but also conitnued to a lesser extent til i stopped BF at 8 months. Ever seen the like? I'm perfectly resigned to it, except that wee bit of me that just wonders, what is it...

MarsLady · 03/03/2008 22:33

Interesting Merry. Will do some research!

T2M · 04/03/2008 09:27

Rapsberry Tea ladies, how are you all doing this morning.

MoM good luck today, uterine activity is certainly gaining momentum

Merry, shame sounds painful. Have you looked at your acidity intake, try avoiding
tomotoes
peas
baked beans
yoghurt
and not to much red meat

Peachy hope you managed to get a good nights sleep and then will be full of beans and having your baby very soon

Angua hang in there the 'peice of sting' has to end soon

Sending positive births vibes and patiently waiting for news

Peachy · 04/03/2008 09:46

Managed 20 minutes sleep last night , and they brought the last 2 assignments forwards so can't go to bed today either!! damnations!

Hoping to get revenge by going into labour whilst doing my presentation next week in Uni and completely scaring the entire room.

Ha!

Jaysthird · 04/03/2008 10:49

morning all. I joined you ladies a couple of days ago as i was experiencing all the same signs as a lot of you...Strong BH, periody cramps, lots of movements etc etc..it had been going on for three weeks or so trouble is, now i haven't had anything for about three days???? even the movements have slowed down. I still get the standard '10' but they seem to be concentrated in the evenings with nothing really happening in the day time.

I am not sure whether i should be worried or not?

I am seeing my consultant tomorrow as i am a week over

Any thoughts?

Peachy · 04/03/2008 11:04

Same thing happening here with re to movements.

Seeing my MW tomorrow anyhow but you might want to call them- however it could well be that baby is either resting prior to delivery (please!) or just doesn't have as much space as before.

But never worth not calling if you're worried.

Jaysthird · 04/03/2008 11:13

thanks peachy, have called MW - they are all out on home visits....great huh!!

i fear induction is looming

Peachy · 04/03/2008 11:27

I had ds1 induced (early due to problems)- honestly, it was no worse than my two subsequent natural labours. I didn't need any extra pain relief or anything, please don't worry.

MerlinsBeard · 04/03/2008 12:12

everyone still here?

Had my scan moved to this morning (had half an hours notice and its a good 20 min walk when PG to the hosp!) baby looks great, even looked at us estimated at 7lb 1oz ish and blood flow from placenta to baby and back is fine, waters normal. booked in with coinsultant tomo when i can finally get a date set for induction! Unless baby has plans for today because i am now super niggly!

mehdismummy · 04/03/2008 12:31

great news about seeing you lo mumof. Jays can you call hospital and go and check the heartbeat if you concerned? My ds quiet towards end. I had to be induced too. Sending you big hugs

MerlinsBeard · 04/03/2008 15:56

lol @ mars' labour tourettes

VictorianSqualor · 04/03/2008 16:06

Mars, I've been shagging like a teenager whose parents are on holiday, it aint working!
They come along, squeeze me and hurt for a bit, then within an hour bye bye contractions.

Lulumama · 04/03/2008 16:07

how many weeks are you now VS?

am stunned no-one has birthed yet..

i am getting wedged in my chair from so much tea and cake!

MarsLady · 04/03/2008 16:08

Come on lula.... let's get this party started!

VictorianSqualor · 04/03/2008 16:09

Only 35, but have been having contractions for the last week and a half?
Just as I think maybe it's time to call someone they stop

MerlinsBeard · 04/03/2008 16:10

am definatly having either very strong braxton hicks or weak labour contractions irregularly. Even the hosp agrees with me now (caught some of the evil ones on the CTG last night !)

Lulumama · 04/03/2008 16:26

look, if none of you actually go into labour, i shall be coming round to twiddle those nipples myself!

everyone has to watch a comedy and have sex tonight, or else!

MarsLady · 04/03/2008 16:27

mom.... be sure to listen to your body carefully. I had a client think she was having braxton hicks and it was a very fast delivery. So.. if you feel anything change... call your HCP/mw

MerlinsBeard · 04/03/2008 16:29

mars, DS2 was a weekish like this and then 1 hour start to finish! Am just letting it "do", am actually having to take deep breaths thru some of them so something is going on!

Worried about Lulu twiddling my nipples....they leak!

VictorianSqualor · 04/03/2008 16:30

Lulu, no sex here tonight, I can't do it again!
I'm starting to think he's pushing it further up

Lulumama · 04/03/2008 16:30

i will wear goggles and a souwester

MerlinsBeard · 04/03/2008 16:35

LOL @ souwester!

MarsLady · 04/03/2008 16:49

So... mom about to drop off line and pop. VS bragging about her DH's manhood! Interesting!

AnguaVonUberwald · 04/03/2008 17:14

Saw consultant this morning, very happy with me, babies head is engaged, heartbeat fine etc. Thinks nagging cramps and stuff is my body getting ready.

No estimate on when baby will come though she didn't think I would go overdue!

Mumofmonsters - any more news?
