I have been having period like pains and backache since friday evening, last night I had an hour and a half of really intense contractions every few minutes, that suddenly stopped, had a few this morning as well, but now back to the period like pains and backache, how long could this go on for?

I have Eyong but i haven;t met him yet officially. I have seen his trainee Dr Naik (or something like that) who i am very happy with, he listens which is always nice!

fryalot · 03/03/2008 09:53

I'm not local any more. I live in Yorkshire. But, as MOM says, we figured out we were from the same place when we posted the exact same things about "what is your home town famous for" - hats and the river mersey iirc - and fred perry

And dd1 was born over 14 years ago, in SHH. Twas a lovely time. Tis better than Hull or Scarborough (dd2 and ds)

i think its safe to say it has changed alitte since then sqounk

I mean, you still can't find a parking place, its still very busy and the staff are still spread thinly but i think they may have got new curtains....or washed them...or maybe they got bleached in teh sun

fryalot · 03/03/2008 09:59

so they're no longer those orange, square patterned ones, bought new in 1971? aww! [disappointed]

MerlinsBeard · 03/03/2008 10:00

oh, hang on, that rings a bell. I think the orange square patterned ones were at the infirmary (showing my age now, it's been closed what - 15 years?) Sprigs of greenery sound familiar. So perhaps they haven't changed them since had dd1

MerlinsBeard · 03/03/2008 10:14

you could be right, i have spent a lot of time in delivery suite the last few weeks so maybe the wards are the sprig ones still

i remember orange ones at s'port infirmary! and grey walls...wtf was all that about?!

I was one of the forst patients to be seen at A&E when it opened at SHH -broken arm!

fryalot · 03/03/2008 10:18

I've never attended A & E at SHH. I moved away not that long after the infirmary shut.

Am getting all maudlin now about the town in general - I remember when the Macdonalds opened (oh, how excited were we! It did root beer and everything )

Anyway, none of this is helping you almost birthing ladies. I shall go and get some pineapples for you

Lulumama · 03/03/2008 11:35

AnguaVonUberwald · 03/03/2008 12:48

lulumama

I readsomewhere that for nippletweaking to work you had to do it for 3 hours a day!!!!!!!!!! is that right?

OP posts:
merryberry · 03/03/2008 12:56

yup, 3 hours a day in 15 minute batches, one nipple at a time only. 'pparently...

i've just had another sweep. achy now. bishop score was 5, mucos plug all gone. booked for induction in 11 days time, this obs not in least bit phased by fat/forty/big baby, compared to her boss.

off to bed, that was a long morning for muggins here.

this thread could go on for ever and ever and ever, no?

MerlinsBeard · 03/03/2008 13:01

it could but hopefully we will not be on it then!

whats a bishop score?

merryberry · 03/03/2008 13:05

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bishop_score Bishop's score]] way of working how how favourable you are for induction/labour

merryberry · 03/03/2008 13:05

oops

fryalot · 03/03/2008 14:22

more scones anyone?

AnguaVonUberwald · 03/03/2008 15:16

Ongoing low grade stomach cramps - I presume any questions about whether this means anything are in the order of "length of a piece of string"

OH well, just have to wait and see

Merry, don't get too bogged down by bishops score, mine when I was induced with DS1 was very low, the MW going off for the weekend said she would be helping out when I delivered in the labour ward as I ahd at least 4 days to go even with pessaries etc! By teh time she returned, I had delivered baby, spent 2 days on ward AND been transferred to a MW led unit

Peachy · 03/03/2008 18:12

Oh- managed to find out what was going on with me.

Did a good check of baby the toher day, and he had his head pretty much wedged into the side of my cervix, rather than pressing down. hated dping it (felt very mean) but poked him away and the pain stopped almost immediately (after a long sleep, funny that). he floated about a bit but is now right down again and I am getting what I would describe as strong BH's now, but with pressure in the 'right' places. So I think thats what was going on- I was getting bruised and therefore pains as baby was pressing in the wrong place.

After having been desperate for baby to come out now, hoping maybe not tonighta s Dh working and its supposed to be snow. there's not great roads into the village (hardly remote LOL, 3 miles from the city, but steep riverside roads all round) so a nervous DH doing a speedy dash into here not besta dvised, perhaps?

eventful day today...although sadly i still have baby inside rather than outside!

crampy all day again

Couldn't eat past 10 o clock because i had a liver scan at 4 which looks fine. Was strapped to CTG after that in ADU and my ouchy contractions were caught in action-hooray! Usually the uterine activity on the machine goes from 5ish to 27 ish but this evening they were going right up to 77!! NOW they believe me that it hurts and are doing all they can tonight and tomo morning to bring forward scan so i can get in to see consulatant on wednesday to be givena date for induction!
