I have been having period like pains and backache since friday evening, last night I had an hour and a half of really intense contractions every few minutes, that suddenly stopped, had a few this morning as well, but now back to the period like pains and backache, how long could this go on for?

SquonkForgotHerEasterName · 21/03/2008 19:34

fantastic news!

Well done Spugs - will wait for birth announcement for proper story. Congratulations on the birth of Ismay Kate - what a beautiful name.

VictorianPASqualor · 21/03/2008 19:41

Yay!
It seems things are finally kicking off, now we just need a nice long run of daily announcements

rainbowdays · 21/03/2008 20:21

Congratulations spugs, looking forward to hearing more.

I agree VS we do need a nice run of announcements now, can I opt for next thursday as it would be most convienient for me, and I think that Angua deserves tomorrow, she has waited long enough, anyone else opting for a birth-day this coming week!!!!!!

scorpio1 · 21/03/2008 20:21

Pleeeeease may I have Easter Sunday? It's my due date and I can't take much more of this false labour rubbish!
As it's a full moon, etc tonight I thought everyone would be going strong!

VictorianPASqualor · 21/03/2008 20:35

I'd quite like tuesday thanks.

Peachy · 21/03/2008 20:44

Ah now Tuesday- I ahd a dream the other night (after a massive contraction that sent me off the bed) that I was being tortured by a book character (I suspect Angua will recognise, Lord Vetinari LOL)- but he then turned round and promised me baby would be here by Tuesday.

he won't be though, baby is never coming

Peachy · 21/03/2008 20:45

Spugs- congratulations

nezelette · 21/03/2008 20:49

Alright, I'll take Monday. Due date today, nothing much happened. It's kind of nice to be overdue in a weird way, like finally being on the right side of the due date, it feels like it's statistically more likely every day that something WILL happen!

Spugs, well done!!! Congratulations!

So sorry for you Angua and all those who are waiting. It's so bloody BORING!

I have to go, DD crying her eyes out still teething and she only wants MAMA. AAARRGGH! How am I supposed to get contrating in those conditions???

c4it · 21/03/2008 21:25

Can I have tomorrow please? Due date is today, but patience was never my strong point . Still having cramps, and shows following sweep yesterday.

merryberry · 21/03/2008 21:32

hurray SPUGS!

AnguaVonUberwald · 21/03/2008 21:55

Thanks Merryberry and Squonk really appreciate it, I am starting to really struggle with this, though Squonk is right, I will get through it.

Merryberry, that might well be the answer, just take one hour at a time and try it that way.

HUGE contratulations to Spugs, you finally made it, she sounds lovely!!

Rainbowdays, YES I WANT TOMMOROW!! please, please, please!

Peachy, I do indeed recongise Lord Vetinary, and, while I agree with you that these babies are never actually coming, I think a promise from him for Tuesday is a big thing!!!

Nezellette, I hope DD feels better soon, so you can go back to concentrating on contracting!

I am beginning to worry that I will explode before this baby comes. In the past hour I have had: a massive steak, potatoes, broccoli, peas, carots, 2 clementines, a banana, 2 creme eggs and a whole pineapple. And I still feel hungry. Am sort of hoping I don't go into labour now as I can only imagine I'd be terribly sick!

Prisci · 22/03/2008 00:24

Angue, hang in there!!!

Spug, big congratulations indeed.

Turtle hopefully you will have your day on Sunday, it shoud give you time to digest indeed...

Merryberry, wonderful and very interesting bith story indeed.

Still hanging there, it is a Bank Holiday in Bermuda, so DP has been home...been using him for sex, eaten pineapple, drunk raspeberry tea, wanted to eat a curry but the takeaway is closed...why are they celebrating easter but no sign of anything....I know I am being impatient not even overdue, was hanging on the fact that it seems that in my family we all give birth about 10days early, but it seems not in my case, why why!!!and it is also a full moon.

At least we should have a few birth annoucement coming up in the next few days.

HolidaysQueen · 22/03/2008 09:45

Can I slope back in and rejoin this thread? I disappeared a few days ago because despite 3 shows over the past 2 weeks even my fairly regular BH stopped and I felt like I was about 20 weeks pregnant rather than 39 albeit decidely more knackered and uncomfortable!

Anyway, I went to bed last night with a bit of a headache then woke at 4am with a huge thumping headache, nausea and mild stomach cramps. I sat up to go to the bathroom and whoosh - I thought my waters had broken. I shrieked, switched the light on and (TMI alert!) found the most enormous amount of blood-stained mucus on the bed. It was like an EU surplus mountain of the stuff...

Another big amount came out a few mins later and then again after urgent 'let's bring on labour' sex this morning (which hasn't yet worked by the way). I can't believe there is any more in there, and this is also completely different in amount to the past 3 shows so I think this could be the real one.

I'm still having occasional stomach cramps, still have banging headache, but nothing else is really going on. Baby still moving well. What can I do to try and get things moving? I was thinking a walk in the park and a bounce on my ball. Any other bright ideas?

I am going to be so gutted if nothing happens in the next day or so, after spending 17 days now on tenterhooks following the first show and then now this one! I'm still only 39+2 though so if this thread is anything to go by, I could still be here in two weeks time...

sounds like a proper show, bloody show is usually a good indication that dilation has started.. great description BTW !

hope everyone is ok, and not too about no babies yet !

they will all be born, at some point,in the not too distnat future !

turtle23 · 22/03/2008 10:11

HQ- This is getting a bit silly now. You are bound to go today! You get my place in the queue as after nearly a month of manic BH and all kinds of small shows and ridiculous d+v I have slowed to a halt. My current idea is to get a space hopper which is impregnated with clary sage and ride it up some stairs while eating a pineapple curry and then reflexology and acupuncture at the same time. It's all ok though, as my baby is coming tomorrow.

fryalot · 22/03/2008 10:13

congratulations on the birth of your son, jammie

HQ - if lulu was here, she would say nipple stim to bring on proper labour. Walking in the park and bouncing on the ball sounds good as well.

It does sound like things are moving along nicely, although as you say, if this thread is anything to go by, it could still be a while.

turtle23 · 22/03/2008 10:14

Congrats jammi! Fantastic work! And so pleased you got the waterbirth! I was worried that full moon was a figment of my imagination...rather like this pregnancy.

fryalot · 22/03/2008 10:14

okay, lulu is here, and she didn't say nipple stim.

hmm... ignore me, I'll make some bacon butties
