Peckarolloveragain you have just took me screaming back to December 28th, 1981 when I had twin boys. After I delivered them - the doctor stitched me over the piles i had and the stitches had to be taken out - they werent disolvable. I ate beef madras curry accompanied by freshly squeezed orange juice.
Anything that makes you 'go' normally is a help. Would tell midwife just for reassurance. Good luck.

slim22 · 12/01/2008 02:40

Oh pekka, feel really sorry for you!!!
I was at enema idea but now sounds like a good idea.
There is a thing called microlax. it's in a little tube. you stick it up your bum and squeeze in the content (liquid gel about 1/2 ounce). Wait a bit and go.
Might be a solution if you want to do this in the privacy of your bathroom.
Not sure you can get it in UK but ask a pharmacist or your HV, I'm sure they'll be sympathetic.

kutilputil · 12/01/2008 03:11

what the hell is a prolapse?so sorry for your experience pecka, had the same, worse!still have it 2 years on!

slim22 · 12/01/2008 04:12

I think prolapse is when walls of vagina collapse bringing uterus down into vagina.

Thus importance of actually doing the kegels and not just thinking about it!

Flllightattendant · 12/01/2008 06:31

Stop panicking, Pecka, it will just make you tense and then the poo won't want to come out.

Try to relax. Nobody ever dies from constipation. Nobody will have to remove it manually.

Loads of us have been in your position and it has eventually come out. If you are worried about it building up then stop eating for a day, have lots of coffee/chocolate as that is good for getting things moving fast. Go for a little walk or run if you can. Also don't bother with the fybogel or anything that needs to be hydrated before it works, as part of the problem here is your fluid intake - you need mushy tinned fruit if anything, not powders or wholegrains. They will just absorb what fluid there is and expand.

So...drink lots, especially a bit of caffeine if you can, and a bit of exercise and relax as much as possible.

Let us know...

Flllightattendant · 12/01/2008 06:38

..also part of the reason people get racks there is because the pain makes you tense up, so the muscle doesn't stretch like it can do.
Make a really conscious effort to relax your jaw, then the rest of you, ie tense up the anus, hold for a few seconds, then release - that is how to relax it. That will minimise any further cracks/damage.

Sounds like childbirth doesn't it?

Flllightattendant · 12/01/2008 06:38

sorry cracks, ....

mehdismummy · 12/01/2008 07:07

you poor thing i actually got piles. If you have not had to go through enough without this adding to it! Prunes get a tin of prunes eat the lot. If nothing happens call on call doctor. Hope to hear positive poo stories soon!

Mintpurple · 12/01/2008 08:08

Dont you think its a bit odd really that there are people all over the UK and around the world waiting with baited breath for you to do a poo Pecka?.......not that Im trying to increase the pressure on you or anything

do you think it will make the evening news!

whispywhisp · 12/01/2008 13:23

Eat plenty of prunes, apricots and drink prune juice. I did this after delivery both my dds - I was stitched inside and out and very heavily bruised and was scared I would do more damage when I needed a number twos. So I ate prunes and apricots and it worked a treat because it makes your number twos much easier to pass, iykwim!

PeckaRolloverAgain · 12/01/2008 17:16

I feel almost as euphoric and joyful on the birth of that poo than I did my daughter!

I am considering posting an announcement in the paper with my proud news and having a naming ceremony.
