I had a propess put in at 2:30pm today.

This is my first baby, I am 37+1, not much has been happening so far until around 30 minutes ago.

I'm getting pain in my back, top of my stomach goes hard & then pressure at the front in my pelvis.

Midwife said to time they from the end of the last to the start of the next Confused I did that, it turns out to be max 1 minute Hmm

So I'm guessing I'm either doing it wrong or they aren't contractions??

Congratulations on your pregnancy! I think you should phone your midwife/local hospital and talk to them, really.

Heirhelp · 25/03/2017 20:59

You need to speak to a midwife.

amysmummy12345 · 25/03/2017 21:00

Sounds like things are gearing up! All the best op Flowers

MidnightVelvetthe7th · 25/03/2017 21:00

Speak to a midwife sweetheart, I've never had a propess so I can't help you but I hope it all goes well (and quickly) :) Brew

amysmummy12345 · 25/03/2017 21:01

Are you at home or in hospital?

Blossomdeary · 25/03/2017 21:02

It is hard first time round when you do not know what to expect and cannot interpret the signs. In your situation there is a strong chance that these are contractions.

Are you at home or in hospital? Just ask the advice of the midwife - tell her you do not know what is happening.

Jolly good luck - how exciting!

Redyellowpinkblue · 25/03/2017 21:03

During my induction with dd1 I had similar almost constant pains but it was impossible to time them accurately so they popped me on the monitor and picked up on them then. Are you on a ward?

Toobloodytired · 25/03/2017 21:04

Sorry! I forgot to add that bit in.

I'm in hospital being induced because of Obstetric Chol (can't spell it).

I came in at 1, had a sweep and the propess fitted at 2:30, nothing at all until now.

Midwife says to just time them & give them a shout when they are between 3-4minutes Confused

I had a propess and nothing happened for about 20 hours and then Jesus Christ it all came at once. Literally waters went and I'd had the baby in less than an hour! Nobody believed me when I said I needed to push - I ended up giving birth in induction suite!

Tell a midwife! Good luck! X

ByJoveItsAGoodUn · 25/03/2017 21:07

As they are less than one minute beyween contractions and you feel pressure at the front if your pelvis call tge midwife over now.

MiniAlphaBravo · 25/03/2017 21:07

Not been induced myself so it may be different but doesn't she mean 3-4 mins apart not lasting 3-4 mins? Usually contractions are 2 mins max I believe.

Toobloodytired · 25/03/2017 21:07

It's practically impossible to being even remotely close to labour only 6.5 hours after having the propess put in surely??

Waddlelikeapenguin · 25/03/2017 21:07

MW will monitor you don't worry that they will say you're doing it wrong - it's your first time!

Good luck sounds like you're on your wayFlowers

ByJoveItsAGoodUn · 25/03/2017 21:07

Sounds like you are progressing v fast.

Redyellowpinkblue · 25/03/2017 21:08

Tell a midwife, they'll check you over. Good luck!

Waddlelikeapenguin · 25/03/2017 21:09

Not impossible maybe your baby was going to start labour in the next couple of days so they & your body were ready

ByJoveItsAGoodUn · 25/03/2017 21:09

Alsomot impossible to be that far along at all :) ive had 2 inductions and was far quicker than expected with both.

MrsELM21 · 25/03/2017 21:09

Sounds positive to me, good luck!

Toobloodytired · 25/03/2017 21:11

The discomfort is getting stronger. If feels like something is physically trying to escape out of my back!!

Bluntness100 · 25/03/2017 21:13

And congrats,,such an exciting time for you.,,,💐

averylongtimeago · 25/03/2017 21:15

Call your midwife, good luck!

Toobloodytired · 25/03/2017 21:17

I think I'm going to have to punch the guy next to me, he's so kindly fallen asleep & started snoring!!

His gf isn't in labour, isn't being induced, isn't due to have her baby!!

OP posts:
Maudlinmaud · 25/03/2017 21:19

Oh dear Hmm a snoring person isn't what you need. Best of luck op.

elQuintoConyo · 25/03/2017 21:19

Nothing to add except best wishes Flowers

Elledouble · 25/03/2017 21:23

Sounds like your baby might be almost ready to put in an appearance! If he or she is back to back, that may explain the feeling.
