I had a propess put in at 2:30pm today.

This is my first baby, I am 37+1, not much has been happening so far until around 30 minutes ago.

I'm getting pain in my back, top of my stomach goes hard & then pressure at the front in my pelvis.

Midwife said to time they from the end of the last to the start of the next Confused I did that, it turns out to be max 1 minute Hmm

So I'm guessing I'm either doing it wrong or they aren't contractions??

In the nicest possible way, if you are in hospital I think you should ask the midwife rather than us! Good luck OP.

Toobloodytired · 25/03/2017 21:37

Il be damned!

It isn't him, it's bloody her!!

She snores like a man does Shock

Great, I can't even moan as she's a patient too.....Sad I'm not sleeping tonight.

Let's hope baby comes asap!

I also had obstetric cholestasis first time round and was induced.

After the first pessary I had constant pains and tightening overnight - pessary was inserted at 4.30pm and the pains became quite full on from around 9pm. I remember being in bed trying to sleep but the pain kept me awake most of the night.

I had a second pessary at 7.30am the following morning and after that things really started.

Elledouble · 25/03/2017 21:40

Get some earplugs! And good luck.

Toobloodytired · 25/03/2017 21:45

They aren't going to do anything until 2:30pm tomorrow as that's when the propess is due to be removed & the gel put in.

I just feel like I'm going to be here for bloody days, not even been here 12 hours & ive had enough!

It can feel like a long time. Do you have a tens machine? If so it might be worthwhile putting it on now if you are still in pain after your bath.

Toobloodytired · 25/03/2017 21:51

Oh I'm not having a bath.

I've not got a tens machine either.

Pain isn't really pain, more discomfort!

Trying to gauge wtf is pain though!

For what it's worth I had propess put in (13 days overdue with no labour signs) and was in labour within an hour and a half with no more than 2 mins between contractions almost from the start. They told me it could take 24 hours so it was a bit of a surprise...

MrsBellefleur · 25/03/2017 22:00

I had the pessary at 1pm on Monday to kick start labour as my waters went but contractions didn't start at 38 + 6 weeks, baby was born at 5.30pm so it can happen quickly when it kicks off.

Toobloodytired · 25/03/2017 22:08

No idea, midwife came in. Listened with Doppler said all was fine, said get some sleep & they'll see me in the morning Confused

I had Propess, and the discomfort you describe. I didn't ask for pain relief, until I was discovered, crouching in the corner of my cubicle, silently sobbing. The new mw on shift hustled some gas and air for me, and it made a huge difference. She also told me off for not asking for pain relief - I 'explained' sobbed that it was my first labour, and I assumed it would be offered.

My point is, ask for pain relief now, it may take a while to arrive, and while it doesn't sound like contractions (it's v similar to what I had, and they weren't full contractions), you may as well not be hurting.
Best of luck!

Nellooo · 25/03/2017 22:10

Have a bath! It might be the last peaceful, child-free bath you have in a very long time and it may get baby on the move.

Giraffesaretootall · 26/03/2017 13:02

How are you today OP?

Toobloodytired · 26/03/2017 13:44

I'm good, sore but nothing painful.
The propess came out a little while ago, so waiting for midwife to check.

She's gone off on her lunch until 2 so clock watching now!

Just been taken to delivery suite, waiting to see midwife and doctor.

Was ready to give up & go home when the doc said last night that they'd leave me for 24 hours & start the process all over again, I was ready to get up today and go home, luckily they came to grab me to bring me up.

Omg it feels real seeing the cot!! Omg he's coming!!

Oh bless you.

He is coming, he really is Smile

Good luck OP!

RyanStartedTheFire · 27/03/2017 09:47

The propess was enough to send me into labour with both my early inductions. Two with my first and with the second the first one had only been in for a few hours!
Best of luck for you. Unfortunately induction is very much a waiting game.

Afreshstartplease · 27/03/2017 09:50
