Exactly that really, how long did you wait after having your LO to have sex? My DD is 4 weeks, I think most people wait 6 but is that compulsory? I don't think I can manage another 2 weeks lol! but I don't want to do myself any damage as I had quite a nasty tear, anyone else have a similar experience?

It was before 6 weeks with both of mine - probably 5 ish?

thegirlinthecar · 08/12/2016 17:48

3 weeks then 2 weeks , it was when the bleeding had stopped

MyBreadIsEggy · 08/12/2016 17:50

5 weeks after DD, 6 weeks after DS - would have been sooner this time around but we are cosleeping with DS, and DD is always around! So we seized the rare opportunity when DD was having her lunchtime nap and DS slept in his bouncer for once!!!

2 weeks! Wowzer. Definitely couldn't have at 2, I was still pretty broken. However I did have a 9lb baby so maybe my vagina deserves a break

4 weeks to the day. At the time (33 years ago) 6 weeks seemed to be the generally accepted figure, but my GP said that as long as it wasn't before 3 weeks, just to with when it feels right.

welshweasel · 08/12/2016 17:56

5 weeks I think. Had a section but the bruising on my tummy meant it was too painful before that.

MissClarke86 · 08/12/2016 17:59

Reading with interest...I'm 27 weeks pregnant and we've not done it for ages due to a low lying placenta. Wondering how broken I will be after giving birth but would like my love life back.

Gardenbirdy · 08/12/2016 18:00

Six months! I had a horrible tear and just couldn't face it mentally, even after it'd healed.

gluteustothemaximus · 08/12/2016 18:01

4 months ish. Was very very ill. Last thing on both our minds Grin

LaundryQueenHatesIroning · 08/12/2016 18:02

8 weeks.

I asked DH if he wanted to after 2 weeks but he said he didn't feel ready. I think 8 weeks was the next chance we got Grin

DramaInPyjamas · 08/12/2016 18:02

A couple of months, then instantly became pregnant with DD!

GizmoFrisby · 08/12/2016 18:04

About 3 weeks but not proper sexytime. Probably should of waited a bit longer. I had small baby's but badly haemorrhaged after both. So was a bit weary to be honest

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 08/12/2016 18:06

8 or 9 months, neither of us were interested and both shattered.

IAmALionTamer · 08/12/2016 18:07

5 weeks. I wanted to do it before I met the doctor for the sex week check in case there were any issues.
The first few times it was uncomfortable die to episiotomy scar but quickly that issue went away

UnoriginalNN · 08/12/2016 18:07

12 weeks at least here. I couldnt stand without it fecking hurting for at least 6 wks.

skyyequake · 08/12/2016 18:07

If you had stitches then best wait till after your six week check up! Also don't forget contraception in your haste Wink

As for me it was 10 months, but I had PTSD so bit of an anomaly...

Figgygal · 08/12/2016 18:10

5 weeks this time post section last time maybe 8 weeks but had a tear and stitches and it prob was uncomfortable for a year after that.

How are people doing it so early aren't you still bleeding??

Manumission · 08/12/2016 18:12

Oh dear. 2-3 weeks each time and ALL of mine were between 9 & 10lbs Blush

I feel like a bit of a sex case now. I wish I hadn't clicked on the thread HmmSmile

ImYourMama · 08/12/2016 18:12

5 weeks for full sex, 3 weeks for foreplay (I had a cs)

SausageD0g · 08/12/2016 18:13

About a year....

Manumission · 08/12/2016 18:16

Or is it my vagina I should be defending? Grin

MuppetsChristmasCarol · 08/12/2016 18:17

6weeks for the first try, but my stitches from a 2nd degree tear felt tight and uncomfortable. We've done the deed a couple of times since, but it still doesn't feel right (though not painful).

I think I'm just not ready for it, as labour was fucking painful and I didn't have pain relief for the pushing part and I can't really forget that.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 08/12/2016 18:18

I bleed for weeks after a section.

FrankAndBeans · 08/12/2016 18:19

First time - 3 months. I had stitches and was single though, it would have been sooner if not.
Second time - 13 days Blush DP was shocked I initiated it but was happy to comply. 7lb baby, just a graze which had healed.

skyyequake · 08/12/2016 18:21

Also FWIW I had an episiotomy, a second degree tear and I had swelling around my stitches so bad I had to take oramorph for the pain... But I waited 10 months before I felt ready and never had any pain at all! I probably would have done if I'd forced myself to, so really it's down to personal preference (although obv be careful of stitches, section scars, bleeding, etc.)
