How soon after birth did you do the deed?

Exactly that really, how long did you wait after having your LO to have sex? My DD is 4 weeks, I think most people wait 6 but is that compulsory? I don't think I can manage another 2 weeks lol! but I don't want to do myself any damage as I had quite a nasty tear, anyone else have a similar experience?

I think it's a YMMV situation OP Smile

NerrSnerr · 08/12/2016 18:24

Wow. We tried at about 6 months and it was too painful. Even though I had a c section it just hurt a lot. We tried periodically after but must have been about 10/11 months before if was pain free.

I was bleeding for about a month after birth and was really tender- I did have some complications though.

Kittenrush · 08/12/2016 18:25

No way manu, I take my hat off to your vagina! Thanks for your replies. As some people have said, we've done other stuff, about 3 weeks in. Just wondering about doing it proper.
However never mind. Just got my f@*king period

I sawed a plaster cast of my fractured arm once. I'm probably just a reckless maniac Smile

Prioritise sleep over EVERYTHING though. Even food Grin

Nearly 6 months this time and still counting. I really have zero interest. I'm exhausted, I have the nearly 6 month old and a 4 year old. At the moment I don't think I'd mind if I never have sex again. DP might be a bit cheesed off with that though. I think it's the breastfeeding hormones that are putting me off, plus I feel all touched out by the baby and the 4 yr old. I'm sure I'll get back into it at some point...

Kittenrush · 08/12/2016 22:01

I didn't think I'd have much interest either to be honest, everyone told me I wouldn't ever want to have sex again but I can't get enough of DP at the moment. Must be all the crazy baby hormones, I can't leave him alone. I've never been such a soppy dope before Hmm

Manu that cracked me up, sleep definitely trumps most things at the moment. We are living on toast. The dinner of kings

Baby 1 (horrendous birth, tearing, all sorts of stitches, PPH, huge baby): 5 months
BAby 2: (ok birth but 10lns baby and I had two 21 months apart): 4 months
Baby 3 (great birth, small baby who adored sleep): 3 weeks

DuggeeSchmuggee · 08/12/2016 22:23

About 10 weeks but I had a 1st degree tear that the midwife said didn't need stitching. Felt pretty good and mobile because of it but it took 2 months to fully heal Hmm.

Boobyroof · 08/12/2016 22:26

2 years and counting. Confused

Sittingunderafrostysky · 08/12/2016 22:28

Months and months. To be honest, I'd happily have waited a couple of years. Knackered, bad tear that took ages to heal, baby with colic. Amazed I ever recovered enough to gave a second baby.

Kittenrush · 08/12/2016 22:49

:o boobyroof! 2 years. Gosh! I'm sure it'll come back, if you want it to that is!

I had a pretty horrid tear too and some really bad internal damage so I'm scared to try really but I also can't wait. I think I will take cold showers until my 6 week check as suggested though. Just in case

Around 3-4 weeks once I had stopped bleeding etc. Just take it slowly at first would be my advice

Boobyroof · 08/12/2016 22:58

2 years is not good is it?! It's not my desire has gone, it's circumstances, I was seriously ill, my husband lives abroad now, my children cosleep and both our confidences are gone.

I was 4 days post c section... Couldn't control myself!!
We were really gentle. It was nice to get close to my husband after the worst pregnancy and cesarian!

10 days after CSection with my twins

MINIgiraffe · 09/12/2016 05:07

Hehe some of these replies have made me giggle!
I can't really remember with my first two - I remember it feeling very weird though - Like the first time again - But with a (dozing) audience!
This time I expect it will be much the same. Though I'll be queuing first for the coil while I'm still stretched and limber lol.

KingJoffreysRestingCuntface · 09/12/2016 05:19

About a year.

Didn't have sex with exDH once we'd conceived. Couldn't stand the way he smelled...

HearTheThunderRoar · 09/12/2016 05:35

About 3 months. I had a horrendous birth which ended up in a EMCS and DD weighed 9lb.

sashh · 09/12/2016 06:55

I met the doctor for the sex week checkHmm

Kittenrush · 09/12/2016 08:14

Booby :( that makes me so sad. I'm so sorry! I hope it gets better!
King, this definitely happened to me too but I liked his smell again after I'd given birth. I made him brush his teeth an awful lot Grin

Clankboing · 09/12/2016 08:18

9 months with all 4. I was too scared lol!

skyyequake · 09/12/2016 08:30

Oh I'm glad I wasn't the only one who couldn't stand the smell of my partner while pregnant... I thought it was just because he was a twat 😂

Come to think of it, him being a twat may have been another factor in it being 10 months... I didn't want to sleep with him when I was pregnant either Grin
