Anyone else due this week WAITING & keen to get going ?!!

I'm due Christmas Day; saw the MW on Friday who said head was eng and cervix favourable. She did a sweep to help matters along (early, due to borderline age- I'm 39).
She predicted it would be before Xmas & I've had the show over the last few days. Had cramps on Monday & thought it was kicking off but nothing since. I got my hopes up
Now in weird parallel universe of anticipation!!
Anyone else waiting it out?

Yes me ArtyParty ! Have my sweep booked later on today, sooo want it to work Im so over this. Im so swollen and want to meet my baby so bad..

I started a thread about sweeps and if they really worked and considering all the answers Im thinking of not getting mine if my cervix is not favourable. Head has been 2/5 engaged for weeks now and I dont feel like its dropped at all so Im not feeling very positive about it :(

The only thing that really did something recently was sex. Had so many contractions that night, but then everything stopped. But at least its better than nothing.

Is my 2nd too- do you know boy or girl? It will be a surprise for us.
Thought contractions might be starting on Monday but think it was just the cervix 'effacing' because the MW checked & said it was very soft & thin... (Tmi?) This got my hopes up but have only had BH since then.
I'm a lot more mentally prepared this time but I do just want to get going & don't see why I'm not, seeing as the cervix is ready!!!
I was also 2/5 eng last Friday which I thought meant things were imminent with a second child.... But obv not.
I've done all my jobs and am just wandering about randomly cleaning the house & checking mumsnet!!

Let me know how your sweep goes... May not work but worth a go I think x

Yes its a surprise for us too! I cant wait to know. We have a 3 year old little boy already, what do you have?

Sweep was ok. Not as painful than with my son. She said my cervix was very soft but still quite long! Bother !! I just went for a power walk, Im having a curry, then sex (god !) and if nothing happens Ill just stop trying. Im too swollen to try !

Head was 2/5 engaged with me too! And BH have slowed down too..

I just have a feeling its going to be another 2 weeks...boooo! How are you feeling?!

My due date would be Sunday, hospital date is 31st this will also be no4 for us. Have been sick with a virus on top of trying to get the last few bits done. I'm so ready to get this baby out though. Hospital don't want to see me again till after the new year, which I am worried about as my last baby was 9lb. So I'm really hoping baby will come any day.

Glad MW could do the sweep AFergie. At least it feels like something is happening; have you had the show?
I have a 3yo girl! Would be funny to have a boy but really i don't mind either way... Have you got a preference?
I had a 2 week wait last time which is why I'm so keen to avoid it....
I had acupuncture yesterday which could be a load of cobblers but was very relaxing. I'm only going to do things I like this time.... Last time I was eating curry and pineapple for a week & I can't face it again!!!

You are the voice of experience.... Did you go overdue with your other three DCs or just frustrated with 'the wait'!? X

Went over with 1&2 and induced with both. With dd3 I went naturally but I was over by a few days. Mine are never in any hurry to come! I also had sweeps done with 1&2 and never came to anything.
Have all girls, so unless its a girl thing to be fashionable late . I just hope it doesn't all kick off and I miss Xmas morning!!!

I feel like I'm in a complete limbo at the moment, I keep getting woke up in the night with painful BH and thinking this is it, but then they die off! I'm desperate for him to come now

I have a sweep booked for Monday morning so I'm hoping it works, baby's head is 4/5 engaged so that's good, and I do feel like I'm on the brink of it happening but obviously don't have anything to compare it to as it's my first so could be a load of rubbish!

3peas I feel for you I had an awful bronchitis for 10 days a week ago, and it was the worst. Coughing with that bump ugh ! Do you manage to rest with 3 little ones? Do you know what you are having??

mollysmummy you sound close ! I had contractions a week ago all night and then nothing. Its soo frustrating! Have you had a show?

So I had my sweep yesterday afternoon, then 35 mntes power walk, then hot curry, then sex... and Im still pregnant ! I must have drank half a bottle gaviscon during the night and peed 9x. I think my next move will be to accept the baby wont come before christmas..or ever. Hopefully the lack of hope will bring labour on!!!!

If any of you has something exciting to report, please do !! I need positive stories !!!! xxxx

Nope no show, just the pains, it's so disheartening isn't it? I desperately want him to be here soon. My dad works away, he came back last nightand is due to fly back on the 2nd of January, so the quicker this happens the more time he will get to see him

I'm in agony with my back aswell, turning over In bed in a hefty task, Think DP is going to crack up soon!

Well I've had quite a night. Got BH from about 7 when I was doing the washing up. Thought nothing of it as have them a lot but they got stronger. By the time I was in bed I had mild contractions quite close together.
That went on for 3 hours so went downstairs to get on the birth ball (DH none the wiser as he has had bronchitis too afergie and 3peas and is dosed up).
Got an hour or so sleep on the sofa at abt 3am. Then awake again with slower & gentler contractions.... Now just feels like bad period pain with the odd surge... A bit frustrating but at least something is happening ....

Oh Arty Im so happy for you ( / jealous haha ) it sounds like something is happening! Try and stay active ! Its good they came back in the morning.. gosh you might be holding your little baby very soon !

Molly no show, no pains nothing. I really understand about your dad, my mum leave son the 26th... she is so upset when I come downstairs every morning still pregnant ! Lets keep faith ladies !!

On my side NOTHING. Even braxton hicks have stopped, Ive had them from 20 weeks regularly but now nothing ! UGH !!!! xxxx

Still very gentle contractions... Am on the birth ball now.
When I went overdue before it all came on suddenly & was over in 24 hours, so this is strange..!
It must be an extra pressure to have parents who are only around for a short time...
Also the pressure of Christmas Day... We didn't factor that in did we ladies!! X

No we certainly didn't! Ha ha! Although I suppose it's always a given my dads here over Xmas, but not convenient for anybody else.

Reassuring but disheartening that the latent phase can go on for days & stopping & starting is normal. Bah! Just period pain & twinging now so trying to rest in case it's another sleepless night- phew stamina needed.
Had the first show last Saturday & remembered the nct teacher saying that could mean 24 hours before contractions ... Poppycock!!!

Ive been getting strong BH for the last 2 hours. They are approx. 7 mins apart. I cant help but think its just going to stop and be negative !

That's my main worry as nearest relative is 1.45 hours away....

Read that if they stop you should use as an opportunity to sleep and eat which I've done.

1h45 away that sucks! If baby doesnt come before the 26 then its my husbands mum who will look after the baby and she lives 1.45 away too.

Do you not have a friend nearby that could be on standby until your back up arrives to put your mind at ease?

So annoying contractions have stopped!! Mine arent as strong as 2 hours ago... How long was your first labour?
Mine was 40 hours/ pitocin/episiotomy. Im booked in for a waterbirth this time...

First one was nearly 2 weeks overdue; waters broke & contractions started but hospital insisted on prostoglandin (?) pessary to ensure I delivered within 24 hours due to waters breaking... think it was 18hours start to finish... But only 5 hours active labour.

I also had an episiotomy which wouldn't have had if they hadn't insisted I delivered on my back
Different hospital & lovely ethos this time - also hoping for a waterbirth...
Neighbours & friends on standby but all have young kids or babies so would feel awful getting them out of bed.

I was given 2 due dates 17th for dates and 22nd for measures if that makes sense?!
BH on and off for weeks- sometimes painful.
Stomach cramps sometimes but just turns out I need a poo (tmi, sorry!)
Thought it was 'time' last night but turned out to be dodgy tummy again

Bloody fed up of BH and pooing, waddling etc
Doctor wouldn't sweep me as I wasn't at my revised due date...
