I'm due Christmas Day; saw the MW on Friday who said head was eng and cervix favourable. She did a sweep to help matters along (early, due to borderline age- I'm 39).
She predicted it would be before Xmas & I've had the show over the last few days. Had cramps on Monday & thought it was kicking off but nothing since. I got my hopes up Grin
Now in weird parallel universe of anticipation!!
Anyone else waiting it out?

Fergir,
House full of guest and you in labour!! Super Grin I really hope this is it for you and it's a speedy birth.

Terrible night last night of no sleep, rough day esp on Xmas day! Slept this afternoon so feeling a little better. I so want this baby now, I am cracking up with itch/heartburn/swelling/feeling crap.

mollysmummy1970 · 26/12/2013 00:53

Oh fergie that's brilliant! I hope ur close now Smile I'll have everything crossed!

Nothing major happening here, although I'm feeling mega crampy, been to the toilet alot and I think I'm starting to lose my plug, is it always bloody? Cos there's quite a bit of mucus but it's clear?

X

mollysmummy1970 · 26/12/2013 00:55

3peas- I hope u manage to get a good sleep tonight and it all eases off 2moro, there's nothing worse than each of those things, nevermind all at the one time! I had 7 weeks of horrendous itching and it was the most miserable time of my entire pregnancy so I can sympathise! Thanks X

DirtyDancing · 26/12/2013 01:21

Molly- loosing mine too and it sounds the same, clear no blood.

mollysmummy1970 · 26/12/2013 01:25

DD- that's good, hopefully it won't be long now, I would love for it to start tonight, I'll not be able to sleep tonight!!

Artyparty · 26/12/2013 11:51

fergie hope this is it for you... Right on the due date!

I didn't get the water birth as was going to get in for the 2nd stage but all too quick!

So far so good. Lovely to come home on Christmas Day.
Hope you ladies had wonderful Christmas' & look forward to hearing your news soon

All going to plan, I'm going in to be induced tomorrow. Have to call at 8am to check there is a bed. Feeling all nervous, excited... Everything!

Two questions I wondered if anyone knows the answer to.

-If I end up having an epidural, do you have to have a catheter? Really don't fancy that!

  • if the pessary works can you have a water birth still?

X

mollysmummy1970 · 26/12/2013 18:29

DD that's great news! The wait is finally over for you, hope it all goes smoothly.

Sorry I cant help with ur questions but I'm interested to know about the water birth one, i was actually going to ask the midwife that at my appointment 2moro but it's not until the afternoon so you will probably be in by then.

Wishing u luck!! X

BetterWithCranberryWensleydale · 26/12/2013 18:42

Yes I think if pessary works then water birth ok. Not sure about epidural and catheter but I suspect you might need one or else they will periodically catheterise you.

3peasinapod · 26/12/2013 19:48

DD
Yes with my epidural I had catheter and it wasn't to bad. I think I was in so much pain I didn't even realise I had it.
Not sure about second question but I think once you are well in labour I don't see why not.

Got new meds for itch so here is hopin to a nights sleep!

Artyparty · 26/12/2013 19:58

Hi dirty very best of luck tomorrow- how exciting!!
I had the pessary with my first labour. It worked fine & the contractions built slowly so I was able to cope without the epidural. At my hospital they said that once there had been an intervention/ augmentation then they needed to continuously monitor. This ruled out the waterbirth - it may vary from hospital to hospital... But I think that is fairy standard.
Some hospitals have 'wireless' monitors -called Telemetry - which you can wear in water. If they don't have that then you can still have an active birth with the monitor on.. & your birth parter can assist with that; use the birth ball; walking about & on all fours... so don't be too hard on yourself if you don't get the pool.
I don't know about the epudural; my sister had one but I thought they only put the catheter in afterwards because she had a c sect...
Very best wishes & thinking of you . Xxxxxxx

Thank you so much for your replies everyone, it's good to be prepared either way about the catheter and also accept I may not have a water birth.

Off to bed soon, hope I can sleep have butterflies in my tummy (as well as a rather excited baby, I'm sure he knows something is going on!) xx

DirtyDancing · 27/12/2013 13:07

I went into labour naturally at 1.30am this morning! Being assessed on the ward at the moment ;)

mollysmummy1970 · 27/12/2013 14:54

Hooray!!!! Well done!!!Grin U might get that waterbirth after all, great news!

Well i had a sweep this afternoon and she said It was all looking quite positive so fingers crossed! X

AFergie · 27/12/2013 17:47

Hi ladies
Sorry for the lack of reply.
Our beautiful baby boy arrived on the 26th at 330am after a 24 hour labour.
Still trying to recover as having so much unexplained swelling ( sorry its so gross) down there and havent slept since the 24th of dec!
Labour was tough, no waterbirth as heart rate was high, had fever etc etc. baby was back to back and it took so long of back to back contractions to get to 4cm.
It all nearly happened on christmas day!! I was contracting all through the opening of presents and the meal every 5-6 mnts- ridiculous!!!

Sorry havent read all thats been going on on the thread as ive been so busy but i had to update you as you have all been so fantastic. Will try and catch up on the latest events soon. Hope you are all ok.
Xx

AFergie · 27/12/2013 17:53

How is everybody today?

I had a show today so that's quite exciting! Anything happen after urs 3peas?

I was out last night and noticed my feet were really swollen, thought it was just cos I had been standing up a lot but they're still quite puffy today and the baby isn't moving as much as usual. Think I might phone the hospital soon, I'm getting myself in a bit of a panic, I'll drink some cold juice and eat some Chocolate first. X

3peasinapod · 29/12/2013 21:48

Nope Molly not a thing. Cramps and the runs (tmi) and that's it! Baby has been very quiet too. If your worried u would ring labour ward and see what they say. Back up to hospital in morning see what happens! Prob get another sweep and with any luck I go into labour very soon!!!!

mollysmummy1970 · 29/12/2013 22:33

Fingers crossed!

God I'm fed up today, I'm actually boring myself thinking about it all the time, ha ha! When will u get taken in if nothing happens?

mollysmummy1970 · 29/12/2013 22:36

Oops forgot to add, after i posted earlier he started kicking about again so he must have been having a sleepy day! Was just worried because he's always so active!

DirtyDancing · 30/12/2013 00:18

After 50 hours in labour our little boy was born at 9am today. We are shattered but just so happy! Let's just say it was an experience, few hair raising moments when his heart rate dropped & the emergency team flew in! But managed a normal delivery in the end which am so happy about.

Good luck ladies looking forward to the next birth announcement ;)
