Hi MNer's,

I'm currently expecting DC2 and wanted to conduct a quick poll on likelihood of having same sex child for DC2 as DC1. Of all my friends/child's friends, everyone I know seems to have had the same sex child for first and second births!

anyone know if there are any stats on this?

what has been your experience? what did you have first and second time?

2 DDs.

My aunt says if you have 2 the same, chances are the 3rd will be the same again.

In my family everyone has two children of the same sex (ie 2 dds or 2 dss). except my mum, she has 3 girls :)

DS then DS. Everyone keeps asking if we'll try for a girl! Too risky!

dilbertina · 10/11/2011 14:02

I read somewhere once (ie not able to back this up in any way, but it was supposedly based on some scientific reason...!) that if you have 2 boys your 3rd dc is more likely to be a boy also. But everyone on this thread and who I know in real life in this situation seems to have had ds, ds, dd - so maybe it's a crap theory!

Francagoestohollywood · 10/11/2011 14:07

I second Dilbertina's post. My dh, who is very much into his experiments etc, claims that generally you tend to have a child of the same sex as the first. This leaves me Hmm

Conkertree · 10/11/2011 14:11

I have ds ds ds so it was right for me Dilbertina, and I have met loads with three boys since ds3 came (7 weeks).

mawbroon · 10/11/2011 14:12

x2 DSs.

Not sure if there will be a third or not....
