Anybody else overdue and just waiting for things to happen? I know I am not that overdue but I feel like every day is dragging sooooo much.

Do you want grumble about it with me?

sunface · 04/10/2011 11:23

hey there can i please join in too?! casi i'm the same as you! Due 2nd Oct and still waiting and this is my 3rd.. my first was 5 days over due and my 2nd was right on their due date, so of course i expected to be early with this little one Confused silly me!!! I had a sweep yesterday but apart from the usual tightenings, nothing else.....

Casi · 04/10/2011 13:48

I never thought I'd get this impatient! This is my first and I am reading baby books, watching daytime TV.... and going a bit mad I think! Need to chill. I guess with two other children it's easier for you to fill your day? I hope it happens soon... X

sunface · 04/10/2011 18:26

well had what i think is a show earlier this afternoon, TMI but it was jelly like and brown in colour? assuming thats what it was!! STill getting irregular tightenings and feel really really wiped out today.....

casi i just feel in total limbo at the moment, like i can't plan anything! One DC is at school and the other in nursery the odd day, so i have managed to get some me time, as i'm so huge and cumbersome at the moment, it'd be hard to keep them entertained otherwise! Hope it happens soon for you too!!! xx

golemmings · 04/10/2011 22:08

Prime, Casi, Sunface... at least you were expecting babies in October... grumble grumble grumble...

Sunface, sounds as though things might be happening for you soon. Fingers crossed!

Feeling pretty rough tonight, sore, sick, tired, DD (2) has been incredibly clingy for the last couple of days, had a nightmare last night where she thought I'd left... And I'm due to be induced in 36 hours.

I have no faith left that this baby is going to come out willingly...

golemmings · 04/10/2011 22:16

Sorry. That was unreasonably grumpy. Its been a long hard day so I think bed is in order.

On the plus side I'm going out for lunch with the friends I went out with when I was in labour last time and whilst they probably won't thank me for even considering repeating the experience, they would cope if anything happened and it will at least remind me that in 24 hours I might have a baby!!

Casi · 05/10/2011 07:21

Golemmings, I am willing your baby to come today! Not surprised you're feeling rubbish, hang in there. Enjoy lunch with your friends, you never know, history might repeat itself!

I am seeing a midwife today - not sure if she will arrange a sweep or actually do a sweep. But according to lots of people on here, sweeps make little difference anyway?

Sunface - any news? Prime - good luck too.

gluttom · 05/10/2011 09:00

41+1 with dc3 today - supposed to be being induced tomorrow - scared I'll get cancelled though. Had enough of being pregnant and think I am now depressed or hormonal as not able deal with my other dc who are only 2.5 and nearly 4 - I keep shouting Sad.

I have had 4 sweeps and a show but not even a sniff of a contraction. I was induced with dc1 and had the gel and it worked straight away, but the mw said this time ascot is baby 3 they will just break my waters and see what happens! Bit scared but I am ready now - the last few weeks have been torture.

Good luck

metalelephant · 05/10/2011 10:54

Aarrgh, had a sweep booked today, 40+3, and the midwife couldn't as my terribly uncooperative cervix is closed. Naughty carvix!

So will have another one on Monday and then induction on Wednesday, when I'll be 41+3.

My cervix is posterior, is that causing the lack of progress? My first was early, waters broke but not dilating so was induced... I feel utterly incompetent Sad

Good luck everybody, I hope all goes well for you today xx

InMyPrime · 05/10/2011 11:10

No movement here, I'm afraid.... 40 + 4 now, which isn't even that overdue for a first-timer but I'm just starting to get discouraged now Sad. I had a MMC in my first pregnancy so it seems my body just likes hanging on to things...

Sweep due for Friday when I'll be 40 + 6 (can't do it at 41 weeks as normal as my due date was a Saturday) and I think I'll ask them to induce me, if possible, at 41 + 3, next week because then at least I'll have a date in my head and know that one way or the other, there'll be a baby out by then! I wish I could just have a Caesarean and have the uncertainty over with.

This really is a kind of mental torture, isn't it? Good luck to everyone being induced - hope it goes well and you get your babies soon.

Irishclaire · 05/10/2011 11:28

Hi, hope you don't mind me joining this topic, I am 41 +1, had an appointment for a sweep yesterday however my naughty cervix too was closed and she couldn't do it, midwife is calling to the house on Friday morning to try again and then induced on Sunday if that fails to work, typically that is the day my Mum is due to go back to Ireland, she has been here for 8 days and will be so upset if she doesn't get to meet her new grandson/daugther... I am on the raspberry leaf tea, 1 whole pineapple a day!!! It's helping with my constipation if nothing else... and even managed to have sex last night, hoping Mum didn't hear us through the wall, wasn't very romantic....
It is so frustrating all this waiting... let's hope these babies come soon....

metalelephant · 05/10/2011 15:53

Ok...that's it...enough with the doom and gloom!

I'm taking charge here and throwing big handfuls of Prostaglandin at everybody on this thread. Come on babies! OUT!

metalelephant · 05/10/2011 15:54

PS welcome, Irishclaire, to the home of the naughty cervix

Irishclaire · 05/10/2011 17:35

Thanks metalelephant.....Well was in Cafe Nero today having orded a Tuna Melt and a coffee and had such a pain in my back and feeling of nausea come over me that I couldn't eat...still feeling pains now...so hope something is going to happen tonight...maybe the sex and pineapple is having some effect afterall, currently bouncing vigourously on my ball hoping for the best...

Retsbewdy · 05/10/2011 17:37

Hi all, thought I'd join the party....I was supposed to be induced today but after 3 phone calls they have decided to bump me to tomorrow (well fingers crossed). Apparently 3 ladies were booked in today to be induced but I was bottom of the pile - I'm 38 weeks with non-ID twins and am carrying around 14lbs of baby alone, lets not talk about how much baggage has also come with that! Hopefully that makes some of you feel a bit better!

It is indeed mental torture but I'm trying to placate myself that countries such as Germany view 41 weeks as full term (well, not for twins but you know what I mean).

Gluttom - fingers crossed we both get in tomorrow eh?

metalelephant · 05/10/2011 17:49

good luck Retsbewdy and Irishclaire! hope you get to hold your babies by tomorrow!

metalelephant · 05/10/2011 17:51

...and ,ofcourse, good luck to casi and sunface and gluttom and InMyPrime :)

golemmings · 06/10/2011 05:28

ye gads Rets - that's a lot of baby!

Its half 5 and I'm up. Either I've become incontinent over night or we have progress.

My next door neighbour (who is (and has been for the last 4 weeks) on childcare duty for DD) demanded last night that I didn't go into labour and wake her up at 3am but that I had it in office hours and the quicker the better. She might just get her wish.

If her wishes are that powerful, then I'll ask for wishes from her for you lot too and lets hope for some babies this week!

gluttom · 06/10/2011 06:48

Ringing in 10 mins to see if I have a bed - nervous. I really want to get this show on the road.

gluttom · 06/10/2011 07:30

No bed SadSadSadSadSadSadSadSad

metalelephant · 06/10/2011 11:28

oh dear, poor you gluttom :(

did they say you should ring back later? I don't mean to sound Polyanna-like but perhaps this delay will give you time to start on your own...

Casi · 06/10/2011 16:58

Golemmings - any more news??

cecinestpasunepipe · 06/10/2011 19:33

My DD is 41+3 with her first. She is being stoical, but oh what a state I'm in!! Not letting her know though (unless you're reading this, DD -wave). She had a sweep on Tuesday and was 3cm dilated, but nothing has happened since. Both my DDs were early so all this waiting is new to me. I thought I had
nagged trained my family to be punctual, so DGC and I will be having words.Grin

golemmings · 07/10/2011 17:55

Sorry about the lack of bed gluttony. Rets, did you get in? I managed to queue jump and went straight to a delivery room on the mlu at 10 am yesterday with contractions 2mins apart. The planned waterbirth was ditched and I was moved up to the consultant unit late afternoon. Alex finally put in an appearance at 7.20 last night. It wasn't the easiest delivery and he was a bit slow to sort himself out but he's doing much better now and should be out of the neonatal unit over the weekend and hopefully we will both be discharged next week. Best of luck to those still waiting.

InMyPrime · 07/10/2011 20:30

Congrats, golemmings, so nice that your baby is here now! Good to hear that things can move by themselves too, even when you've given up hope.

No movement for me, I'm afraid. Had check-up with horrible midwife I'd never met before this morning and she was just dismissive, saying my cervix was unfavourable and didn't want to refer me further. We pushed it with her though and got referred to see obstetrician at the hospital and we got bumped up a day so induction is booked for Oct 11th. Maybe I"m nuts to be so keen to be induced but I can't handle the anxiety any more Confused. I just want to meet our baby now, regardless. Could be I get lucky and go on my own in the meantime anyway. Baby is in a good position for birth (LOL) and cervix has just started to dilate a little (1cm) so you never know...

Good luck to everyone else... having a date finalised is a big weight off my mind anyway...

metalelephant · 07/10/2011 23:05

Congratulations golemmings!
