Anybody else overdue and just waiting for things to happen? I know I am not that overdue but I feel like every day is dragging sooooo much.

Do you want grumble about it with me?

Hi all. I'm still pregnant!

My hospital induces at +10 days but I made a fuss to hold out to + 13 days but I think that is where I will give in gracefully. My cycle is a bit longer - 30 days - but not that long. Also my understanding was that the dating scan should not be affected by that problem??

Anyway I also have a husband who can't do his duty. We tried but I feel so ugly at the mo I think I just wasn't giving off the right vibes (poor man).

Impatient - yes it looks like we will be induced at the same time. Although last time I was induced I had to wait on the ward for a couple of days while emergencies were dealt with first. So you never know what might happen!

I'm feeling a lot more positive about everything now. I'm really looking forward to meeting my next little chap. A little bundle to hug. Great.

Elderberries - the dating scan should take cycle length into account but certainly in my mate's case it didn't. She may just be an awkward candidate but waiting longer certainly worked for her.

I know my cycle is dead regular but I suspect I ovulate quite late in the cycle which would naturally make me late. There are two possible dates that this one could have been conceived both of which were well after I should have ovulated. If I'm thinking 40 weeks from then, I'm looking at the ... 9th October. That was a really unhelpful thing to have worked out. Well done lemmings. Although methinks that it shouldn't be 40weeks from conception should it... I'll stop over thinking this one now before I get confused...

Going to aqua natal today , will finish cleaning the house and then sweep tomorrow.

I'd far rather have this baby on a week day because it means we're only dependent on childcare before and after nursery which is normal for DD even if its more days than usual. If I'm in labour over a weekend then she'll be having her first solo play date and possibly sleep over which could be quite a lot for her to cope with.

impatienttobemummy · 29/09/2011 09:36

Morning all!..... Still pregnant!!

Catgirl, I seem to be the only person I know who has been told they can only have 1 sweep weird huh?! I will be pressing the point with my MW today don't you worry!

Elderberries, I work in the NHS myself so am under nooo illusions about having induction that starts tomorrow! Been trying to prepare DP for all the sitting around and waiting waiting that will be involved as he is likely to throw a hissy fit...could be embarrassing! Im glad your feeling a bit more positive.. me too. Now the time has come Ive realised that of course the labour is important but getting our babies out is why we went through all this! Ive been so focussed on having a water birth I nearly forgot about the baby at the end! So today I feel surprisingly cheery :-)

Golemmings, good luck with your sweep tomorrow, ill let you know how mine goes today. 48 hours before the weekend...thats still a lot of time, I hope things kick off for you :-)

So today is my last day to try and get 'this show on the road' naturally wish me luck ladies and I wish you all the best of luck, its a day of long walks and birthing ball bouncing with hopefully a sweep thrown in for good measure! and if im very lucky (or unlucky ;-) some 'duties' this evening!

Keep Active and Positive!

:-)

golemmings · 29/09/2011 09:56

If anybody manages to persuade their bloke to man up and be useful, let me know how to persuade him. I subtlety told DH that there were several blokes out there who wouldn't do their duty and he looked at me really blankly and asked what on earth I was talking about. Sweet really but he didn't get the hint and pointed out that that was how babies got in, not how they got out. He's clearly forgotten the fun we had just before DD arrived!

impatienttobemummy · 29/09/2011 10:37

Golemmings, I regaled him with stories of days waiting in hospital for the induction to start..... doesn't fancy that funnily enough! He has promised to 'try' tonight ;-) Also said the MW said that it works (white lie ;-)!!

catgirl2 · 29/09/2011 11:58

Hi all - still pregnant too! Today is a beautiful day and that has definitely lifted spirits - also impatienttobemummy, what you said is spot on for me as well - going overdue has made me focus on the type of birth etc. which has actually made me loose sight a little of the whole point of this - to have a baby at the end of it! Even if we go into natural labour there is still a good chance that the labours will not be as we'd have wanted them to be ideally. So, I am now focusing on the fact that in less than a week I should be a mummy!

Golemmings - I also have a long cycle - 31 days I think, it's all very confusing though!

Also trying to view this time as 'bonus time' to get the house in order, do some cooking and hang out with my cat in the sunshine. Something I understand becomes a little more difficult with a LO on the scene...!

impatienttobemummy · 29/09/2011 21:28

Hello Ladies, thought id update....

went to see the midwife who kindly checked to see whats happening! Im 1cm!! I know thats 9cm to go but a lot better than Sundays 0cm and 'unfavourable'! she managed to do a proper sweep this time this was at 6pm. Nothing yet.

Bags packed for tomorrow with fingers crossed for tonight ;-)

Did hear a story today about a 'friend of a friend' who went into labour whilst waiting to be seen by the Doctor on the ward for her induction!

Good luck tomorrow Elderberries :-)

Hasn't it been a gorgeous day! Cleaned the kitchen floor, taken a load of stuff to the charity shop, been to aquanatal (not been before - discovered its a bot like subaqua morris dancing...) managed to get an appointment with a reflexologist and had my feet played with. he reckons that reflexology should take 24-48 hours to work if its going to but the sub-text appears to be, if you're no where close, it won't magically deliver a baby for you. Between that and tomorrow's sweep I'm hoping for a baby this weekend.

DH is still due to start school on Monday but has agreed to call them and say its still up in the air. If the baby arrives over the weekend he will stay home Monday/Tuesday so I'm not on my own with 2 kids. DD will be in nursery on Wednesday so all I'll have to do is get myself and 2 small children out of the house to deliver older child to nursery for 8am on Wednesday. The timing of this late baby really does suck.

And just to think I wanted DD early so I could race in the club marathon canoe champs after my 6 week check. Life was simple in those days!! Now I'm just wanting DC2 to arrive so it doesn't stuff up DH's PGCE or my sanity at effectively trying to do this solo whilst he's working 80 hour weeks until December.

golemmings · 30/09/2011 20:17

Hi impatient, I hope you had a good day and that you now have your baby and you too elderberries.

I've managed to negotiate induction to T+14 provided I go in on Sunday for monitoring.

Having said that with reflexology last night, a sweep this morning and a show this afternoon I'm feeling as through things are about to start happening.

Elderberries · 02/10/2011 11:21

Had baby with gels on Friday at 10.55. 8.1 lbs. Very fast labour. Think I shocked the midwives. Just gas and air because there was no time for anything else....although I would have taken anything! Because I had an epidural the first time I had no idea what the pain was really like. That is an eye opener and no mistake. Anyway we are all doing well. Baby crying so must get back to him.

Good luck everybody.

Congratulations Elderberries! Brilliant news!

metalelephant · 02/10/2011 12:34

I'm due today and think the baby is far too
comfortable, could somebody have a word with her? She must come out asap!

golemmings · 02/10/2011 22:39

Sorry metal - I think I'm the worst person to encourage a baby out... This one is now T+10. Induction booked for Thursday.

Hi all, I'm 40+2 tomorrow (was due Oct 1st) and nothing, not a peep... Sad

I had some cramps and lower back achiness this morning but it went away again by the afternoon. Earlier this week we had a scan and the obstetrician said that the head was about half-engaged and things should be moving but there's been nothing apart from me getting a sort of PMT feeling, but no contractions, no show, nothing.

I am booked in for a sweep at 41 weeks - does anyone know if I can go in to be examined or get a sweep earlier than this? If nothing has happened within a couple of days, I'd really like to have a midwife examine me to see if I'm dilated at all or if there's any sign of anything happening. I just don't think I can last a whole week of this - the anxiety is killing me! Everyone else I know who was due recently went early or on time...Sad

metalelephant · 03/10/2011 10:17

Good luck golemmings and inmuprime, maybe we need to lure them with cake?

metalelephant · 03/10/2011 10:21

Apologies for awful misspelling of your name InMyPrime Wink

Kelly281 · 03/10/2011 22:01

I'm glad I'm not alone in waiting for a LO to arrive! I'm 40+2 at the moment (was due Sat 1st) and it seems baba is quite happy to stay put for the moment. I have the midwife tomorrow afternoon, who I believe is going to try and give me a sweep - hopefully that will move things along.

Not sure if this is the right thread to ask, but is your show always bloody? Sorry couldn't see a thread for answering this - this is my first pregnancy and I'm none the wiser!

metalelephant · 03/10/2011 22:13

kelly, it can be clearish, cloudish, gelatinous, a bit on the beige side or bloody... ah the joys of motherhood... aspic will never look the same again :o

golemmings · 03/10/2011 22:46

Kelly - you may not get one either. I didn't first time around and thought I'd had one on Friday after my sweep - just a bit of bloody mucus.

TMI alert...
What came out on Sunday was very gelatinous and huge in quantity. Somewhere between egg white and haribo in consistency.

It clearly meant sod all because I'm still here and waiting and getting late evening cramps which seem to occur fairly regularly but don't come to anything!

InMyPrime · 03/10/2011 23:11

Same here, golemmings, getting all kinds of cramps and twinges but nothing holding or becoming regular. Bump is hard as a rock tonight and had some period-like cramps earlier on but no sign of anything getting established... I think that is the hardest thing, getting Braxton-Hicks and the occasional twinge but nothing that could really be the start of labour like a show or leak of fluid or anything. I get my hopes up and then am upset when it all goes away again.

Went for a long walk today so fingers crossed SOMETHING gets moving soon...

We have the same due date, Kelly, so maybe the Oct 1st babies are just late or the weirdly hot weather put them off!

Casi · 03/10/2011 23:29

Can I join in too? I was due Oct 2nd and also, nothing's happening apart from lots of tightenings and swollen feet! My husband can't sit still! I'm torn between walking a lot to get things moving and sitting down with my feet up to stop my feet swelling even more. What do you think? Hope everything gets going for all of us soon...

Elderberries · 04/10/2011 09:41

Casi - Put your feet up!
