notwavingjustironing · 17/09/2011 17:41

God yes Slubber. I could take you all dancing and everything ..... Grin

Ooh Sal big decision! Have you got a plan B?

lostinwales · 17/09/2011 17:45

MisSal what do you do that requires business trips to Morocco and why are you going to stop doing it?

I'm very excited at brambles being the child of a maths genius, I do love clever people. I think hanging out with Ada Lovelace would have been a laugh (although she was worryingly untroubled by her best friend turning out to be the product of her father shagging his sister Hmm)

I agree the actual place on the map sounds dull but there are lots of other things around. It also bodes well for Bala being pretty central for us all.

SlubberKopfgeldjager · 17/09/2011 17:47

I would be very happy to put up random strangers from the Internet anyone on this here thread. If people wanted to do Chester. I have 4 thermarests, two pop up tents, a four man pyramid, a sofa bed and 4 loos.

Not sure what Bramble has got, but she does have eggs from the chickens for breakfast innit on the Cobb.

notwavingjustironing · 17/09/2011 18:05

I was just going to say the same! But I suspect you have a little more room

but I'm not going to Cinderellarockafellas

MisSalLaneous · 17/09/2011 18:15

What a kind offer, Slubber. You could demand payment if anyone stays in bunting. I know secretly, deep down, you love it. [grain] Here's a starter pack for you. You know you want to, and it's better than a hedge.

Re work, Lost, nothing - am accountant. I'm supposed to be going there to present the budget to a mix of countries, hence the random location this year. Anyway, I cannot take it anymore - I'm so used to working in professional environments, big companies, all procedural etc, and this job is, well, not that. My boss is the loveliest woman I've ever worked with, and I know my leaving would have a knock-on effect on her as I've taken over a lot of her work, so I feel awful about that. However, the overall situation is too sexist, sleazy at times, utterly frustrating, hitting my head against a wall -ish. So I'm walking away, it's not going to change. I've done my bit, figures are final, so not leaving anyone in a crisis. No plan B. Will live off toast. Will do my figure good, so not all bad.

Nicer topic - this meetup seems like it's going to actually happen! So exciting, I cannot wait to meet you all.

brambleschooks · 17/09/2011 18:31

All v exciting we can do cruise with it's 80s dance floor and you can all crash out on my combo of spare big bed, single sofa bed, thermarest, 2x pop up tents. [grain]

Am busy last two weeks in nov as my ex-bluebell dancer auntie is over from Vegas and I will be away doing family stuff and getting false eyelash tips from her. Coat me in rhinestones and call me elvis.

notwavingjustironing · 17/09/2011 18:36

Shall we suggest 12th then, assuming we will all be doing bonfire type related stuff on 5th?

notwavingjustironing · 17/09/2011 18:39

If it makes life easier for anyone I could collect from Manchester Piccadilly and drive over to Chester - the link to and from London is very good and you could proably get a good deal on a ticket by booking early.

I could drop you back at Piccadilly the next day too.

Max of 3 Grin

SeaShellsInTheMoonlight · 17/09/2011 18:42

Hmm-Chester with free accommodation sounds tempting! it's 4.5hrs drive, so do able... I would just need to check when dh is on a conference, but otherwise the first 3 weekends in nov would suit.

I agree, final details need to be agreed off this thread, but it's easier to agree a city/weekend here then the rest off mn.

SeaShellsInTheMoonlight · 17/09/2011 18:46

12th I'm not working so no swaps needed

OP posts:
MisSalLaneous · 17/09/2011 18:58

Assuming the don't force me to stay until after (not sure if they can refuse my HK trip after already agreed, but you never know), I'm in. Grin Weird to think we'll soon meet irl.

SeaShellsInTheMoonlight · 17/09/2011 19:14

SeaShellsInTheMoonlight · 17/09/2011 19:24

Grin

Anyway...I need to entertain people (been mning whilst cooking) so I'll let you fight it out between you all!

SlubberKopfgeldjager · 17/09/2011 19:49

I am happy to do London.

I am happy to go anywhere. Apart from Stoke.

lostinwales · 17/09/2011 20:09

I have been sitting here thinking, I am much better at computers than people but dear god I deserve a weekend away and you guys are fab. Count me in! Chester is better for me as it is about 3.5 hours drive. West London is about 4.5 possibly longer as I would have to get the train, and we don't actually have a train station (seriously out in the sticks). I am due a personal ABA though and will travel wherever you are. I have a hidden fund for me to have a weekend away every year so I can even stay in a hotel I have NO plans for November so name a date and I will put it in my diary.

Right I am also up for inflicting the rest of my family on you if we camp at Bala next year, I think May would be a good month too.

MisSalLaneous · 17/09/2011 20:11

London obviously good here too, but happy to travel wherever easily reachable.

Slubber, meant to ask earlier - did you get good Olympics tickets then? I'm still sulking a tiny bit, as out of all our choices (which were loads and saved up for ages for) we got two tickets. Cheap tickets. To taekwondo. Now, whilst I'd like to see that too, obviously, I would have preferred many other options first. However, as we got some tickets in the first round, we weren't eligible to apply for round 2. Friends that got nothing first time around got fab tickets 2nd round. I'm seriously considering renting out our flat (really good location for Olympics, so should be easily done) and going on holiday instead! My minor sulk, not helped by the fact that we had all the inconvenience and cost of having the park partially closed for ages for the equestrian preparations, roads closed etc. I'm officially an old lady. Well, old.

notwavingjustironing · 17/09/2011 20:14

If we come to London I'm definately staying over and I might even be able to combine it with my monthly meeting dahn sarf.

So all options still open for me Grin

lostinwales · 17/09/2011 20:26

Oh I'm staying over wherever we go. It's an hour to the main road from here, not worth going anywhere more than 120 miles for just a day. I also have my nice weekend fund and am desperate to use it.

I think I missed your Martini posts notwaving but I will travel a good long way for a decent Martini. Actually if we go to London I could go and see my cousin on the Friday night and make a weekend of it, ooh, two nights away and a train journey to read books on, god help me I might start girly clapping like slubber!

lostinwales · 17/09/2011 20:40

Just a thought for London I'm fairly sure I'm joking...

notwavingjustironing · 17/09/2011 21:04

Martini post

"any pub any time anywhere"

I am not camping in London when there is luxury to be had .... Grin

lostinwales · 17/09/2011 21:18

No me either....

Ahh I get Martini post now Blush

scaryt · 17/09/2011 21:41

Sal, it sounds like work's been grim for you. I once resigned a job without one to go to. Turned out to be the best thing I've done. Am in a much better environment now.

Bramble, you come from an awfully exciting family. A maths genius and a bluebell dancer. Brilliant.

notwavingjustironing · 17/09/2011 21:44

Scary - have we roped you in yet ?
