sorry, my phone ground to a halt on the other thread this morning!

I hope you found me :)

Grin yes I feel pretty rested, but then I didn't do any of the driving! We were all getting about 11 hours of sleep evey night too which also helps with the hangovers

Next time we have said we will just do one campsite per week, and have them all pre booked. The driving into lands unknown without knowing where we would be sleeping that night I found a bit stressful, especially when you got there to see the 'Belegt' (full) sign up.
This only happened at Bodensee but it took us a full morning of driving to six or seven sites before we found one that had space for our (not overly large) tent.

SeaShellsInTheMoonlight · 17/09/2011 15:58

Hello! Your ABA sounds amazing Slubber-and your Bodensee experience in particular sounds fab :) I'll have to reread and have a look-we want to meet our Scandinavian friends on the continent somewhere, so alway up for warm, hot locations with swimming and hiking and naked spas Grin

Entertaining family-must be sociable!! See ya laters :)

Commiserations on your crack too scary

I think we should have a tent and kinder free Christmas meet up. In a restaurant, not a field.

SeaShellsInTheMoonlight · 17/09/2011 16:26

Congrats to all new car owners and :( at crack-have they fixed it yet?

I hope your LO's bottom is better now-I hate Sudocrem, much prefer zinc based stuf we got from norway.

Misssal-I was referring to the dewaard, but thanks for info, I'm tempted by a 5m bell (or a dewaard when we win the lottery!) and it's nie to hear that you'd recommend it too.

Ada Lovelace sounds v cool-byron was a monkey though wasnt he!

Lake bala sounds fab!

We are also off to the Olympics, and already have a week book camping in august, I vote for a meet up May BHs or half term? Weather better then too....

Bramblechooks-wow, respect to your dad-dh is an academic, I feel your pain. I get trips cancelled thanks to world events Angry grr Arab spring could they not have waited one more week?!! However, we do all sit round the dinner table each night thanks to his flexi time!

Xmas meet up-hmm, tempting! Would have to pretty central to us all (has anyone got the list we did easily c+p before I wade through the last thread?!!!)

brambleschooks · 17/09/2011 16:31

Agree with sllubber. Failing getting to Bodensee, Bala pub :)

notwavingjustironing · 17/09/2011 16:34

I will come to any pub, any time, anywhere

notwavingjustironing · 17/09/2011 16:42

And sorry Slubber, have been so busy bring silly on this thread forgot to say welcome back! Your trip sounds great I really wanted to do much more camping this year but life just gets in the way.

And despite taking the piss, I feel your pain about posting on the kindle. It really is a "throw a six to start" system, which is why I remember posting they I was "half way down a bottle of red" at 8.15 am - double post from the day before but the thread had moved on somewhat from then.

Christmas meetup would be lively lovely. Sometime in November would probably work, before we all get embroiled with our own Christmas plans. Maybe a civilised lunch somewhere? Ds2 birthday weekend last one in November, otherwise I can do anything.

SeaShellsInTheMoonlight · 17/09/2011 16:47

My birthday is also last weekend, so any other (I think), however, may be ambitious given even Birmingham is 3.5hrs away!

OP posts:
SlubberKopfgeldjager · 17/09/2011 16:53

haha notwaving. Yes I remember that wine post and snorting with laughter.

We need to find our collective centroid (ooer). Does anyone here live in somewhere tricky like Abredeen who would shift it up northwards to somewhere bonkers like Durham? Not that Durham is bonkers. lovely Romanesque cathedral they have there.

SlubberKopfgeldjager · 17/09/2011 16:54

Bramble and I cannot do the 9th of dec as we are off to a ball. Darlings.

Mid nov sounds good.

notwavingjustironing · 17/09/2011 16:57

But it wouldn't be the same without you Seashells - after all, this gathering was your baby.

[grain]

scaryt · 17/09/2011 17:00

Ooh a ball. Swanky.

A Christmas meet up sounds great.

SlubberKopfgeldjager · 17/09/2011 17:02

Where are you again SeaShells?

I don't mind a lengthy train journey. Bramble, notwaving, funtimes and I could all board a train in Chester and be merrily sozzled by the time we got to wherever we were going. We could play Uno and pretend we were in a tent. Or German star wars top trumps.

SlubberKopfgeldjager · 17/09/2011 17:04

We could have a campers Christmas meet up BALL

Imagines swigging g&t out of a can on the virgin train with long gloves on

notwavingjustironing · 17/09/2011 17:26

Yes to tins of gin on a train

Yes to ball

go on, let's make this happen!!

lostinwales · 17/09/2011 17:27

Found it!

YellowDinosaur - Newcastle-upon-Tyne
Slubber - Forrin (hairy areas)
Bramble & Notwaving - near hairy areas
Funtimewincies - Wrexham
scaryt - Sheffield
Muchostinky - Birmingham, more or less
Lovecat - Greater London (Essex)
lostinwales - south west Wales of course!
Sal - London (SE)
Seashells - Poole
Reshape - Oxfordshire

I have put a few points into this website and it's coming up with south of Stoke on Trent being a middle point so slubber you can put down all the booze, it wouldn't be a long train journey!

We're missing JetLi and Chippy from the list though, I have no idea where they are from.

notwavingjustironing · 17/09/2011 17:27

Yellow is furthest North near Newcastle but I'm sure she would be up for it Grin

notwavingjustironing · 17/09/2011 17:29

x-posts!

Stoke on Trent. Hmm. It's hardly Monte Carlo is it?

notwavingjustironing · 17/09/2011 17:32

If you want to pm me an email address that you don't mind me knowing, we could do a group email to hammer out the finer points rather than do it publicly on this thread?

I know we think they all think we are mad out there but people do lurk.

We need Lovecat back on too - I think she and Sal would be able to come up together

SlubberKopfgeldjager · 17/09/2011 17:34

Chippy is in London. W London iirc.

Stoke mmm that is a bit of a rubbish centroid, but thank you for doing the calculation losty.

Manchester or Leeds might be a bit more er fun and accessible for all.

notwavingjustironing · 17/09/2011 17:35

I could certainly steer us in the right direction if it was the former Wink

MisSalLaneous · 17/09/2011 17:37

Adventures sound brilliant, Slubber! Odd re lack of camping - I had no clue they were only - well, mostly then - into caravanning. Snorting at hedges. Great progress there on Albatros. It's the promise of a romantic weekend in the land of no limits that did it. Wink

Lunch meetup sounds great! I'm supposed to be in Morocco for work the second week of November, coming back the Sunday, but as I'm going to resign on Monday, it's most likely not going to matter. Not that I'm suggesting my attendance is important or anything, I'm just glad to have an excuse to share my (lack of) career plans with you...

Grin at notwaving's "I will come to any pub, any time, anywhere" [grain]

SlubberKopfgeldjager · 17/09/2011 17:37

Are you a knower of the hip and happening dives of Manchester then Notters?

lostinwales · 17/09/2011 17:37

Chester is close to that area and much nicer place to get drunk together meet up. I have very fond memories of a trip to the Chester Grovesnor (and a few martini's in the bar) although the town is full of young people getting drunk on a Saturday .

I will send you my email address notwaving. See what would I call you if we met up, most are easy, slubber, yellow, scary etc but would I call you not or notwaving? (or we could try real names but that might be confusing!)

SlubberKopfgeldjager · 17/09/2011 17:38

Oh no Sal

What's happened?
